They're actually not harmless. They might not corrupt your FFXI/POL files, but GMs can see that you are using the timestamp plugin 100% for sure. Those timestamps that get pushed in to your backlog do get sent to the server. I highly recommend you get the official version if you value your account.

Seriously... have some respect for Cliff, and follow his wishes. He takes the time, money, and stress, to update the windower and keep it working correctly, every time something becomes wrong.

So when he would warn you, that something is not correctly working... why would you go against his wishes? He has never caused harm to anypersons' account, and there has never been a reason to not trust him... so why start now?

Timestamp modifies the chatlog after its been displayed, I believe, so comparing it to commands being inputted that may or may not be sent to the server doesn't quite work.

if those of you who are here for the reason of "ToD" here's something to think about. There are other ToD programs out there... Or you know you could do something for yourself and just write your own chat parser... Of course this is BG, I doubt the majority of the readers know the first thing about programming other than some basic HTML...

The point I was trying to make was that we have no way of knowing if SE actually looks at incoming traffic to the server closely or not, and more specifically if the timestamp plugin actually modifies the chat log in such a way that that data is sent back to SE....it's all just wild speculation one way or the other.

The point of the question was to stir discussion on the topic, and it was rhetorical. I used POS hacks as an example specifically because it is something that SE should be able to monitor with relative ease (oh look, the xyz position is vastly different from one packet to the next) yet they don't specifically ban people for it unless a GM actually witnesses someone doing it.

I agree with you that if using timestamp could get you suspended/banned, its not really worth it for what you are getting. But that's not really the point I was trying to address.
