    1. Timestamp wasn't supposed to be released, for two reasons. One of which we know, and one of which they won't tell us. Neither of which are listed on the front page. There is nothing harmful in the Windower that was uploaded, they just want you to delete the Timestamp plugin. By the way, the announcement on the main page is written by Cozma, not Cliff. She just signed his name at the bottom.

    2. Timestamps are sent to the server. You are very wrong, Snowknight26. The incoming chatlog lines are hooked, and the timestamp is added, before they are rendered on-screen. When 50 lines are written to the chatlog the old 50 are pushed to a .LOG file. Game Masters pull these .LOG files to read your chat information. You can check for yourself if you want to, the timestamps are in those .LOG files.

Summary: Cozma's a lying bitch, but don't use Timestamp anyways, because there's a good chance you could be jailed for it.

I was talking about the timestamp plugin and its ability to alter the visible chatlog, not the actual timestamp in the chatlog.

A new method is in order then.

Again, the chatlog has its own timestamp, but if its the visible timestamp that the plugin adds that causes concern, just remove the visible one after the buffer has reached its quota and written to the .LOG files... and so, that is what Cliff and co. are trying to do (or something similar).

No, that was me letting everyone know so they don't get banned and cry on the forums about it. I'm not even using Timestamp any longer.

    This is correct.

Everyone that bitches about me should just take a number at this point. People realize I am involved with the Windower project, and use windower, and then talk about not trusting me. Strange.

Am I wrong in thinking that the timestamps are not really sent to the server? Granted they are very accessible to any GM that wants to check your logs, but they still have to look right?

On a (somewhat) unrelated note, what happens if a GM reads your logs and finds something different than another person's logs?

e.g. say you edit your log files to fake in a conversation with a gilseller, where you have them "admitting" to being RMT, using third party tools, and sending you foul language in /tells. Everything on your end is perfect, down to the hidden timestamp the server adds.

Now you call a GM on the gilseller, and they read your logs to discover the "conversation" you had with them. The GM then pulls up the gilsellers logs and finds that conversation nowhere to be found. Who will they believe? Will it get the gilseller banned?

And that year has included several re-installs of FFXI(and it's expansions) on account of timestamp, along with other beta-testing periods of plugins that have never been mentioned on the site.

And let's be honest here... it truly is a miracle I'm not banned, along with tons of other people I can think of on my server. More trips to GM jail than I can count, maybe I have a Guardian Angel at SE. (yeah right...)

Gilsellers get banned? There's your answer.

It's time to make that 44/44 into 44/80.

Because of these rumors, went ahead and installed FFXI + Windower on a junk PC with a crap acct, it seems to be attempting to access Photobucket.com on launch.
