How much was it hitting?
How much was it hitting?
Automatons have some weird minimum damage cap. They will NOT hit for 0 unless the mob has crazy Phalanx or Stoneskin on (including Besieged NMs which is why it always pulls hate and gets raped). Against these Marid, it was hitting for 10~35 dmg (with Tension Spring II only). Never less than 10 dmg. Don't think it ever missed a WS either (which they unfortunately tend to do).Originally Posted by BRP
I just can't wait to get my hands on the attack version of this attachment, Attuner. (Enhances attack against strong enemies.)
These 2 paired together = PUP endgame gear imo. And now I must agree with those earlier and say I'm fucking glad we get to solo once a week with no competition for these attachments, and no one but 60+ PUPs can get the drops. I am pretty psyched right about now.
SE should do something like that with a worthwhile pet jug.

PUP will rule the world, I've been saying it since day one. We can only go upwards...
Great job Mioko!
I knew pup would get some stuff to make it better. SE kinda rushed it on this one , trying to get the expansion out, I still would rather have had them release PUP with this patch, than have PUP mediocre and rushed, simply from the fact it's got a "reputation" nowOriginally Posted by Elcura

How PUP started out sounds like SMN, maybe even worse lol.
Indeed, because well not many people remember how SMN started out and only know what it's used for now so when PUP was introduced no one thought "Hey, SMN used to suck but now it doesn't"
And as for the lolpup, I enlighten 5 people per PT. Soon enough the world will know and see the power. At least your LS cares enough to DO lolpup jokes, mine doesn't >.>; just me and Enitsu bragging how great PUP is and everyone esle doesn't really care lol
My apologies for post-whoring it up because it's 4am and I'm bored LFP... apparently the word about PUP isn't spreading fast enough. :P I wanted to re-list the new attachments obtainable through 'Pulling the Strings' ENM in the new light of how utterly potent Target Marker really is, also for those not familiar with the actual descriptions of these things.
warning, presumptuous and 'zam'y
--- --- --- --- --- ---
Attuner(fire):::Enhances attack against strong enemies.
Self-explainatory now. With the assumption that whatever variables or %s or whatever 'Target Marker' uses to calculate the enhancement will be the same for this one, I'm honestly expecting to see 60~120 dmg hits on any exceptionally strong mob the Valoredge frame is sent at.
Mana Channeler(water):::Increases magic recast time in exchange for increased magic attack.
Finally a truely useful water-based attachment. Magic defense rarely is a pivotal stat. Not only will this attachment not get in the way with stacking up Loudspeaker and Loudspeaker II, I'll be assuming the magic attack boost will be very significant given the potency of the attachment I tested.
Equalizer(earth):::Reduces damage received according to damage taken.
This is a little bit oddly-worded, but my friend pointed out something that makes a lot of sense and, I think, would fit in with the 'badassness' of the rest of these items. Theory: The lower the automaton's HP% is, a higher damage reduction -% is applied. So the lower the puppet's hp gets, the less damag it takes. The PUP's Defending Ring, by the looks of it. EDIT--I thought of something else... Perhaps "damage taken" is the running total of damage the automaton has taken during the course of a battle with a specific mob and the damage reduction is simply based on that running total for the fight. To put it simply, it will take less and less damage throughout the course of a fight. Could be since Pattern Reader and Heat Seeker both gradually increase their stat throughout the course of fights as well.
Eraser(light):::Erase enfeebling and maneuver effects.
This one also sounds a little tricky from the wording. I'm going to make an assumption here and say that if the automaton has a debuff on it, a light maneuver will erase the debuff(s) as well as all current maneuvers. Sounds good to me, maneuvers aren't too difficult to re-apply.
Smoke Screen(dark):::Decreases accuracy, increases evasion.
Pretty self-explainatory, and also aweseome because Valoredge frame had yet to ever have a use for any dark-based attachments. Perhaps Smoke Screen combined with Flash Bulb and Strobe = PUP's NIN tank?
Drum Magazine(wind):::Sacrifices accuracy for speed in ranged attacks.
I was hoping for something that sped up ranged attacks ever since I got the Sharpshooter frame. In any exp pt involving bird/puk/colibri mobs, I've always opted for the ranger puppet because of the piercing damage bonus but the attacks were so few and far between. Again, I'm now expecting a huge frequency jump with this attachment, with not too big of a drop in accuracy. Sounds like this will own in a burn pt when mobs are all 'Very Tough.'
Tactical Processor(ice):::Decreases decision-making time, but increases the tendency to overload.
Another tricky-worded one, but I don't think I'll be far off at all assuming this is a potent haste with the opposite effect of PUP AF gloves which reduce overload rate. And again, finally a useful ice-attachment for either the melee or the ranger frame. Since the II attachments came around with such a big elemental cost, I've been finding 3-4 attachment slots open still on these melee frames. Now no space shall be wasted.
Target Marker(lightning):::Enhances accuracy against strong enemies.
Yep. It sure does.
Just a thought. And I know many of the people in this forum want PUP to perform better against HNMs, but.
Maybe those new attachements which have 'against stronger enemies' also are there for giving better performance against IT and IT+ exp. mobs. Or is that already obvious ? And does those help against easier monsters too or do they actually only work against alot stronger enemies?
I didn't parse the data, but we were killing 'Easy Prey'~'Decent Challenge' Lesser Colibri for a while before we headed to the Marids but I can say right now it was no where near 80% with 1~2 ltng. maneuvers on... lol.Originally Posted by Karny

Great to see such nice data from just one attachment. Thank you very much for posting. Still, I do think you are going to be upset when you do your next EM 60 and get either a) nothing, b) lose from some unforeseen misfortune, or c) get the same item. That unfortunately is going to be a large damper on PUP's enthusiasm but at least we know the pieces are worth it.
The Target Marker and Attuner were probably added to solve just that kind of problem.Originally Posted by Tahngarthor

I lost my first time, I tried using valoredge. I sent him against the main mob first so the enemy maton would attack it. I 2houred and spammed fire manuvers to build up hate, and used repair. This lasted for a while but my automaton eventually died and I got pulverized a little while after that by a raging. If I put on earth manuvers after getting the hate built up (and if I had an armor plate II) it would probably have lasted teh whole fight, but as it stood I got it down to about 33%. I'm going to try once more to see if th is sort of a pproach can work at all, then i'll go back to stormwaker. My concern with it is A) the maton deciding to nuke instead of cure when i'm about to die because the enemy's HP is low or B) if I use the harlequin head, dying while I wait for him to cure because it takes him longer to cast spells with harlequin head.
Uh oh...from the notes regarding tomorrow's impending update:
I pray for the sake of PUP everywhere that your new uber attachment doesn't get shit on.- Automaton's attachments, Attuner and Target Marker which relate with ranged attack performance, have not been functioning properly and will be fixed.
I'm betting this means they affect ranged attacks and aren't supposed to.Originally Posted by TsingTao
Maybe it's supposed to and it doesn't?Originally Posted by Tahngarthor
You never know, there aren't any attachments to further increase racc and target marker sounds (which I suppose doesn't count for a lot) like it should be affected racc.
Yes, the wording is ambiguous as usual for a patch. It may very well mean that the Target Marker and Attuner weren't properly helping out on ranged attacks.
We know SE though.
