I did some parsing while exping after I got Target Marker at level 68. I used Target Marker on about 10 mobs then switched to Equalizer II for 10 more. My puppet had about 10-15% better accuracy with the TM, but individually it seemed that TM was more effective for IT+ mobs.

Also, with Optic Fiber, Turbo Charger, Dynamo, Tension Spring II, think that Valoredge is a viable DD setup in a party? Or is Sharpshot still the best option?
Depends on what you're fighting. Flying mobs = Sharpshot, pretty much everything else = Valoredge.

I've been mainly using Stormwaker (Mana Channeler, Mana Booster, Loudspeaker II, Loudspeaker I), starting off with Light+Dark when the mob is pulled, then after the first nuke, adding in a Water, then just keeping those maneuvers up during the fight for constant nuking with no debuffing. I could probably get more damage out of Sharpshot, but I have more fun with Stormwaker. Plus, it can heal.
Stormwalker fails in the damage department, but if you need debuffs in your party for some reason, makes sense to use it. Obviously for curing purposes it is useless in exp parties since you'll never pull hate, but in horrid exp conditions like you described I'd do the same. I only use Stormwalker while soloing.

Bought Optical Fiber and Reactive Shield for 1m each first sales.

Dynamo sold to some lucky 60pup for 500k.

I have some LS mates holding onto a Turbo Charger for me, should get it soon when they log on I hope.

At the moment, testing Optical Fiber with Equalizer to see how it affects dmg-%. Results in a few. [[[edit]]] first test, it added 1% to Equalizer just from being equipped with 0 maneuvers.

[edit] For whoever it was that asked about /pup for backup, I haven't really tried it much, but I did try it at lv.1~10 and from that it sucks bad. Flashbulb potency is watered down so much, and it just can't hit at all for DD and getting it to cure you when you need it to is also a bitch. I have a feeling Turbo Animator might play a large role in Automatons' performance.

    [edit edit]
With no light maneuvers on, Optical Fiber gives Equalizer a straight 1% boost from being equipped, regardless of other maneuvers. I'll give a full result list later, time to go do some actual work now... :(

I would assume the optic fiber would be a very low boost to all attachments, ie less than the affect of a full maneuver. Otherwise it would be fairly overpowering. I'll be interested in seeing how much a light maneuver changes its affectiveness.

Yes on that. It seems to give maybe a 50% bonus to an attachment's ability per light. So instead of TSII giving 10% Attack Bonus, it will give 15%. Still testing to see if more light Manuevers means higher increases. I still am not 100% it activates attachments like the Turbo Charger without the respective manuever on but more testing all around will shed more light on this potentially powerful attachment.

P.S: Optical Fiber has no effect on Mana Tanks or Auto-Repair Kits. MP/HP+% is the same and the MP/HP per tick is the same.

Sorry, let me rephrase what I meant by overpowering.

"Way more powerful than any other attachment. "

I'm not saying they wouldn't do it, but I find it hard to believe that Optic Fiber, for 1 light is as good as all of the Tier I attachments combined, which if I'm reading Toth right is what he's saying.

I guess time will tell. Tension spring isn't a solid piece of evidence. It should be easy enough to test with equalizer or loudspeaker though.

lol, ok little misunderstanding, I agree, it would be a lot more powerful of an attachment and probably be a reason to be only spamming light maneuvers instead of anything else.

I'm in the midst of testing Equalizer + Optical Fiber right now and it's a pain in the ass waiting for these things to use 1000 needles, I'm like halfway done now, but I'm not really going to put much effort in trying to get a 3-light test or a 3-earth test because triple of any element other than fire is pretty unrealistic to be using in any situation other than along with loloverdrive, which alters stats itself so it wouldn't be accurate anyways.

    I'll post the results soon.

(I'm going to break something if I overload one more time)

Equalizer + Optical Fiber vs 1000 Needles

    base damage taken = 940 (6% reduction) (+1% bonus)

(+#% bonus) means the bonus damage reduction you are gaining over just having Equalizer with earth maneuvers (comparing it to my old tests of just Equalizer for you). Take it for what it's worth~ seems to give a base 1~1.5% regardless of anything, but only having about a 1.5~2% boost on each maneuver up that isn't light, also, having no bonus at all apart from the base +1% if you only have light maneuvers up. Maybe someone better than math can simplify it for me. *shrug* It's definitely a piece I'll keep on instead of Auto-Repair Kit, that's for damn sure.

Interesting results, Mioko. At least now we can see that there is indeed a % bonus from the Optical Fiber. Even if the percent isn't as high as the 50% I theorized, the basic thing is that no matter how small the bonus turns out to be, it is a bonus we did not have before and one we can certainly use :D

The new Ashu Talif update will probably mess with Attachment prices. Some servers, like mine, already had a bunch of attachments up (9 Turbo Chargers being gouged atm), so we might be OK. But if a lot haven't shown up yet prices could stay high.

Definetely a nice touch, being able to boost attachments while also having flash/regen is pretty nice. =)

I want them to stay high, or get higher, to justify me buying them early >.>

Same, haha... I just managed to get all 4 new ones for a mil a pop, so I'm back to only lacking that fucking ghost Drum Magazine, which hasn't been sold on Kujata at all.

I'm hoping to see Dynamo in action next Sea farming session or something because Valoredge critical hits are almost always impressive with Attuner/TensionSpringI/II. Usually around 150 dmg or so on VT~IT. Even more of those would be <3.

Pup still isn't fixed by any means though. Also, I would love to know why Sharpshot frame can't crit with Ranged Attacks.

I'd love to know why Sharpshot frame can't get a decent attachment for endgame. Drum Magazine renders it effectively useless.

Rebumping my question as it was bottomed out 3 pages ago.

How well does /PUP work if you just want a cure tank? Basically just wanna go Melee/whatever and skill up parry/shield on Easy Prey mobs. More effective than subbing /whm or /rdm and resting after every fight?

I think the biggest problem with that being realistic, beside the fact that it will most likely have pretty weak MP and no better than Cure III... is how crappy they perform as a lv.37 sub job without Turbo Animator. I always get /tells from friends trying out pup at lv.5~15 that say "it won't cure me until I'm almost dead!" "why won't it stoneskin when I earth maneuver" etc etc etc. The higher level it gets, the better it performs, its priorities even out and it eventually begins to respond to maneuvers instantly with JAs and proper spells. I don't think I would trust it to keep me alive in a situation at lv.75 that's more than just "iffy." Hell, soloing EP as PUP main is still pretty sketchy at 75 after a few kills because it still likes to nuke instead of cure me occasionally, even though it has 1000 MP and Cure IV+10%.

Ah, I have no problems killing certain EP on BST main (no pets) with VIT gear + defense food with /RDM. The only spells I would cast the entire fight were Bio II and Stoneskin. Overall it was pretty decent for shield/parry skillup purposes. However, the downtime was bad enough that it was quicker to run back into Nashmau for the nomad moogle swap job trick than to cure back the HP with /RDM.

I only played around solo with PUP till around 25, I thought there was a way to guarantee the only spell it casted was Cures? My memory is fuzzy, but I thought it was Harlequin frame + Valoredge head. I'm probably wrong though, I didn't give PUP a serious enough try.

    edit: using only light manuevers

Valoredge Head will restrict Harlequin Body to only being able to cast Cure spells. However, Harlequin Frame MP is pretty dang weak. At 60, when I enter ENM, it has like 260 MP. Damage Gauge is also a necessity to make it cure you efficiently.

One annoying thing unless they fixed it is that it never cures you unless it's engaged to a mob, even NPC fellows cure you in between fights but not puppets...
By the way when one day the extra newest attachments become dirt cheap, would any of those be good for /PUP and can /PUP be used viably on anything? (I am trying hard to use /PUP just for fun of course, most other subs have their uses but any suggestions on /pup would be welcome)... miokomioko?
I even have all the tier II but didn't even play around with them as /pup yet, haven't touched it in a long time...

    Any thoughts/suggestions, miokomiokomiokomioko?
