NIN/PUP is actually solid in certain situations... 30 second flash (unresisted), shield bash stun (with right attachment / body), and if you use valor head / storm body, your automaton will basically spam cure III on every 25-30 seconds if you are at 50%-75% health, which isn't really a problem for races with a lot of HP to dip down to 50% HP every once in awhile.

On top of this, you get good use out of the Lv50 Shinobi Ring (Haste+4% in yellow HP) and /PUP gives the Evasion Bonus trait.

The downfall is that this does not work well against mobs with strong AOE as your automaton won't last long or it will heal itself more than it will end up healing you.

The main benefit for this situation is if you're farming and don't feel like resting.. with the proper attachments, your automaton can keep your HP up fairly high most of the time with cures and just convert when it is low on MP (3 minute recast on convert). It could also be used for situational NMs, but if you're camping anything you'd probably want /WAR just for provoke alone.

    edit: typo

(+#% bonus) means the bonus damage reduction you are gaining over just having Equalizer with earth maneuvers (comparing it to my old tests of just Equalizer for you). Take it for what it's worth~ seems to give a base 1~1.5% regardless of anything, but only having about a 1.5~2% boost on each maneuver up that isn't light, also, having no bonus at all apart from the base +1% if you only have light maneuvers up. Maybe someone better than math can simplify it for me. *shrug* It's definitely a piece I'll keep on instead of Auto-Repair Kit, that's for damn sure.
So is this showing that the Optical Fiber can only be triggered, and in a sense only have an initial one time enhancing effect hightening the effects of those elements already active? no doubling up?

Was unsure if you had casted Light first and then Earth Ele or vice versa, wasn't knowing if the elements have to be active previously to casting the Light Ele to recieve the enhancing effect

On side note tho was curious if there was any information on the Haste attatchment? does Haste get casted on the PUP or is it basically just for the doll to increase attack rates? Ive seen posts stating it doesnt effect casting but ive obtained none of the new attatchmens as of yet ; ; so have no first hand accounts

Just to clear it up, no automaton attachments have any effect on the Puppetmaster, except for Eraser.

As far as the Optical Fiber effects, it seems like just light maneuvers by themselves do absolutely nothing, but when paired up with other maneuvers, they have +% effects to each of them individually.

As for Genome, useful new attachments...

Optical Fiber is good because it has an overall boost for everything for the cost of only 1 light capacity.

Reactive Shield is poo, didn't test much but it was doing 17~18 spikes to Lesser Colibri and 23~25ish to Cactuars.

I've yet to do my own tests with Turbo Charger, but I would imagine there would be at least a tiny % increase just from being equipped because of the description, for just a few rarely-used wind capacity.

Dynamo is probably meh compared to the accuracy attachments you could be using instead since as a sub 37 automaton, it'd need it pretty bad.

Tier IIIs, Target Marker and Attuner are pretty much necessities at all times if you've got 'em, in my opinion.

Drum Magazine will eliminate a 37 automaton's ranged accuracy.

Eraser can be handy but if it's a Stormwaker, it's a pain in the ass to keep proper maneuvers up when it keeps wiping them off.

Mana Channeler slow effect is much too strong for the slight increase in magic attack.

Smoke Screen would be useless, making it miss 100% of the time.

Equalizer is best physical defense attachment, hands down.

Tactical Processor is meh... increased overload is crap, only bareable if you have pup AF hands on.

Last three ENM wins = Equalizer, Smoke Screen, and Attuner ( 3 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT, TY SE). I can't believe I whined so much about it. Its a cinch now, even when it calls 2 Harlequins/VEs in a row.

Fairy update: Turbo Chargers selling for 900k and Optical Fiber for 1.3million :D

    Maybe Optic Fiber is:

While equipped: 1% bonus to all attachments

During Light: + 2% bonus per active maneuver, specific to each maneuver

When using multiple of the same maneuver: +2% bonus per excess maneuver

    e.g.

Earth = 1% bonus to Equalizer (just for having OF equipped)

Light = 1% bonus to Equalizer (just for having OF equipped, but no Earth maneuvers so no extra bonus)

Earth + Light = 3% bonus to Equalizer (1% from having OF equipped + 2% per maneuver)

Earth + Earth + Light = 5% bonus to Equalizer (1% from OF equipped + 2% per maneuver)

Earth + Earth = 3% bonus to Equalizer (1% from OF equipped + 2% per maneuver in excess of one)

So far, this is just explaining the results you posted.

    Now, to hypothesize...

Fire + Earth + Light = 3% bonus to Fire and Earth attachments (1% to each for having OF equipped + 2% per each specific to each maneuver)

Earth + Earth + Earth = 5% bonus to Earth attachments (1% for having OF equipped + 2% per maneuver in excess of one)

Light + Light + Light = 1% bonus to all attachments (for having OF equipped, but no other active maneuvers to give an extra bonus to)

If there were a Light attachment that gained a bonus from OF, then I suppose Light x3 would be a theoretical 7% bonus, but it doesn't appear to work on Light attachments.

did some testing of tact. processor on lesser colibri... seems to be that each ice manuever decreases magic recast by 2 seconds. I can't tell if there is a bonus just for having it equipped... if there is I believe its only 1 second.

with both manabooster and tact processor equipped, default casting time was 24 seconds. 1 ice manuever brought it down to 22, 2 ice made it 20, 3 ice made it 18 seconds.

Kinda' random... but I've been testing the "Automaton: Max HP Boost" of the few pieces of gear and attachments that grant it and the numbers look kinda' weird to me... Here's what I got. I tested it on all 4 frames because while the base total HP differ, if the HP boosts were based on percents, they should have calculated out to be the same.

    Valoredge: Base HP = 1663

    Adaman Sainti = +12 (+0.72%)
    Puppetry Tobe = +25 (+1.5%)
    Auto-Repair Kit = +69 (+4.15%)
    Auto-Repair Kit II = +138 (+8.3%)

    Added total = +244 (+14.67%)

    Actual total = +248 (+14.91%)

    Stormwaker: Base HP = 861

    Adaman Sainti = +8 (+0.93%)
    Puppetry Tobe = +16 (+1.86%)
    Auto-Repair Kit = +54 (+6.27%)
    Auto-Repair Kit II = +108 (+12.54%)

    Added total = +186 (+21.6%)

    Actual total = +190 (+22.07%)

    Harlequin: Base HP = 1311

    Adaman Sainti = +10 (+0.67%)
    Puppetry Tobe = +20 (+1.53%)
    Auto-Repair Kit = +65 (+4.96%)
    Auto-Repair Kit II = +131 (+9.99%)

    Added total = +226 (+17.15%)

    Actual total = +231 (+17.62%)

    Sharpshot: Base HP = 1030

    Adaman Sainti = +9 (+0.87%)
    Puppetry Tobe = +18 (+1.75%)
    Auto-Repair Kit = +57 (+5.53%)
    Auto-Repair Kit II = +115 (+11.17%)

    Added total = +199 (+19.32%)

    Actual total = +203 (+19.71%)

It looks like the only really solid thing I can take out of this is that Puppetry Tobe is always exactly double the bonus of Adaman Sainti, as well as Auto-Repair Kit II vs Auto-Repair Kit.

Two things I'm not understanding here...

    1) Why is there a difference of 4 HP between the added total of each individual HP boost and the actual total HP boost from having all 4 items on at once? (Except with Harlequin frame, where it has a 5 HP difference)

    2) Why do the +% bonuses from each item increase with lower base HP?

P.S. Why does the HP boost from Adaman Sainti have to suck balls?

Maybe the total altogether is higher than the sum of each individual boost because of the way percents work? e.g. take 100, add 10% and its 110. But two 10% boosts wouldn't be 120 because 110 + 10% = 121.

Anyone try out Dynamo yet? I am thinking of buying either Turbo Charger or Dynamo at the moment and I am not pleased with the TC's Haste effect since it is only active when you use a Wind Manuever and I will never use that for my VE setup

First of all, according to the description of Turbo Charger, it makes no sense that there would be no Haste effect from only having it equipped. If that were so, the description would be closer to that of Auto-Repair Kit and Mana Tank's Regen/Refresh effects with something along the lines of "Wind Maneuver: adds "Haste" effect." which is not the case since it straight up only reads "Adds "Haste" effect." meaning it is active without maneuvers. I believe the % Haste bonus from only equipping is too small to really observe with our usual means. We usually test exact haste %s by looking at spell recast times but that's impossible with Automatons. Optical Fiber is 1% bonus, so I don't think it's too far off to assume Turbo Charger would be something that small as well. I just don't believe some kid on KI with a stopwatch or with a crappy parser or whatever he used is really going to be able to observe 1% Haste on a pet's attacks.

Second of all, I'm torn about Dyanmo. I went out a Lesser Colibri with Dynamo on, used 3 Thunder Maneuvers, and used Overdrive. It solo'd a Lesser Colibri and critical hit probably 4 times. What a joke. In contrary, I sent Valoredge with Overdrive + 3 Wind Maneuvers and Turbo Charger at a Lesser Colibri and the attack speed was extremely noticeable. All that combined with the fact that accuracy, whether it be Heat Seeker for long fights or Stabilizer II for short ones, is pretty important over what might be a very pathetic increase in crit%.

If Turbo Charger adds 16% haste per Wind Maneuver like was stated earlier, then I think you'd get more out of Valoredge with a Wind Maneuver than a Fire.

It might even be best to forget Optic Fiber and just do Fire + Wind + Thunder. Or if accuracy isn't a problem, go ahead and leave Optic Fiber on and use Light instead of Thunder.

anyone on Bahamut have an equalizer they want to sell/trade? Equalizer is the only attachment I'm missing. I've finished my pahluwan set, so now I just need faith torque and that last attachment to become the ultimate (lol)pup.

Whoops, my last post didn't come out right. I know you need to activate a wind manuever to even get the effect but I just wanted to see if the possible 40-50% haste would be better than the increased critical rate. I was hoping for a 15% increase but it sadly does not seem so as Mioko pointed out. Therefore, I am buying the next TC that goes up then get the Dynamo later. Thanks for the advice.

With regards to the adaman sainti, i'm hoping the HQ (which is really nice with the low delay) has a higher HP boost. Has anyone gotten their hands on the HQ? is there a difference in the HP boost?

With the retarded haste formulas in this game, a 50% haste is double damage overall...Think anything else would double your damage?

It depends. My maton criticalled Kirin for 103 damage (Reg Damage was 20-40). That is why I was curious about the potential power of the Dynamo.

After a small dry spell of losses I beat the stupid ENM again.

    Drops: Eraser + Target Marker

Finally I have the unstoppable duo of Attuner&Target Marker!
Eraser goes up on the AH I guess since I have it.

For some reason, even in this battle, I'm having awful luck with my robot tanking. The Fantocinni literally gets TP every single roll and I just can't keep up. I read about how easy it is now that Elemental slots got increased, but Kintoki gets the S kicked out of him so fast.

    Quoting myself for reference.

On the topic of Optical Fiber again, if it does work like I hypothesized, think of the implications.

+1% for being equipped and an additional +2% per maneuver during light (or per maneuver of the same kind in excess of one) might be more powerful than it seems at first.

Now, for things like Equalizer or Turbo Charger, sure an extra 1-3% won't make or break anything. But if you have, say, Tension Spring I and II, or Stabilizer I and II, or even all of the above with Target Marker and Attuner, then +1-3% per attachment per maneuver could add up fast.

    Tension Spring +3%
    Tension Spring II +3%
    Attuner +3%

That would probably add up to a decent bit of attack, assuming its 3% absolute, added to the 5-10% bonus the attachment already gives. e.g. turning 5% into 8%. And based on the results of Miokomioko's tests with Equalizer, this seems to be the case.
