I got the Armor Plate II from xp trolls also

I'm still on the hunt for Stabilizer II, Loudspeaker II, and Auto-Repair Kit II

Just tried to solo Excavation Duty on PUP, haha. I was hoping that minimum damge cap for melee hits would be in effect against Brittle Rocks and do like 10 dmg per hit... It definitely never hit for 0, but it was only doing 2~3 dmg per swing. *sigh*

If I had more attachments (mainly stabilizer II) I'd try using Valoredge more often, I used it last night for a bit (cause I capped my skills pretty early) and I realized again why I don't like it very much >.>; I was kinda shocked about the cap for melee though, what a pain.

I like Valoredge... his weaponskills are weak but he attacks relatively fast and for decent damage.

On another note, kept waking up around 4am this morning.. decided to check AH.. and found my Stabilizer II after days of camping the AH.

Did the help text on Target Marker and the Attuner change any? I didn't notice any differences in help text on the attachments I have.

Valoredge's skill cap is the same as the other frames. When I said I was shocked about the cap I meant I forgot it was the same as the others (I haven't used Valoredge since level 20).

Semi-OT: What do you typically use in an EXP party when you are geared for damage? I've been using Sharpshot Frame with ValorEdge/Harlequin Head, since it seems like the best damage (esp. on birds/bats). Is there any other generally accepted "good" melee puppet configurations? I tried using ValorEdge but I wasn't impressed with the damage.

I still have no clue how to use Stormwalker in an EXP party. Even with the ADD trick, the damage done by nuking <50% HP seems like less than a Sharpshot frame could have done engaged from 100% HP. What do people use Stormwalker for, other than a Heal Slave while solo?

No other job gets a healing slave :D

I actually use valoredge in xp pt (At lv. 64), with the proper attachments (i.e. tier II stuff and ideally a target marker but I dont have that ) it does reasonably good DoT. However I mostly dont use sharpshot because it's ranged skill is too low to use in xp right now. I'm having a cor with puppet roll help me skill it up.

Stormwaker and Sharpshot are the best if you cap their skills, Stormwaker seems to nuke full time with just light/dark manuver (nothing else) and doesn't seem to cast Bio/Dia this way. Some people say it's a myth using S/W this way but it works for me, and it puts up good damage.

    Summary:

Stormwaker > Light/Dark Manuver > Nuke (with highest spell).

Sharpshot > Wind/Fire/Thunder(or Light instead of Fire if you wanna be more defensive/your tank sucks)

    Valoredge: Don't use it.

No need for ADD (that actually takes away from your own damage cause of the delay resets and what not). ADD only seems useful when skilling up and you really have to be careful not to get it hurt too. Most PUPs don't take the time to skill up Ranged/Magic, huge mistake. The earlier you do it the easier it is to keep it capped.

Well the first frame I got was Sharpshot and he's basically all I've used from level 10 to 36.

I did spend a lot of time as WHM75/PUP to skill up the mage frame, so my magic skill is capped.... I just can't find a way to use Stormwalker in an EXP party that isn't really lame (yay for a puppet that casts Bio/Poison once every 25 seconds, or tries to Blind Bats).

Having to keep Light/Dark up (and no Ice) just to make it nuke seems kind of silly, but I guess I can try it sometime.

Stormwaker is pretty weak until it learns Water II (42/43) and Aero II (47). Basically if what you're fighting is deathly strong against your highest nuke you just use Sharpshot.

    Manabooster+D/L Manuver seems to work.

Stormwaker head onry. Gotta' have them Ice capacity for Loudspeaker I & II.

I've pretty much always used Stormwaker head/frame in exp pts pretty much regardless because it was pretty reliable for landing enfeebles and repeated nukage with no resting really adds up for the DoT. (Made me really hate exping on crabs and beetles... gogo silence)

Once Colibri existed I pulled the Sharpshooter frame and slapped a Valoredge head so it would get within melee range to keep its ranged dmg a bit higher and so it could gain TP through meleeing (melee hits aren't bad either, usually for more than one of my fists.)

I left Valoredge quite underleveled because I never found a great use for it in-pt until I used it recently since Target Marker made a massive difference and hits pretty much every time now and sometimes Shield Bash works great... sometimes. Once I cap out its melee skill, I'll probably try it out for exp again.

(Target Marker text has not changed, which makes me fishy about the actual change they made. However, I just used it in pt against Catoblepas and junk this morning and its accuracy was rather impressive. Didn't parse it, but I think it wasn't far below me in total dmg.)

Valoredge - I THINK has the highest damage output lower levels, it might hit for less than a ranged attack, but the high melee skill (at that level) helps it land a lot more of those hits. I had one parse where some gimp's Valoredge beat my Sharpshot (in garlaige, lv50).

But sadly, as levels progress (and without proper attachments) it seems to just start slacking.., not to mention logically.. there is no real incentive to join an XP pt and Valoredge - unless you do massive skillup on the other two during your off time.. god knows skilling up Sharpshot sucks ass.

I used Valoredge in exp last on Colibris (lvl 62) and it was parsing at least 10% of the total damage on every mob. My sharpshot is still 50 lvls below the cap but when I do bring him out, he still hits quite well. He also does nice damage. I think with Stabilizer II and Tension String II, the valoredge has become a very solid DD again (it was critically alot and was doing 40-60 damage per swing).

If my Valoredge performed like any PUP-type mob's Valoredge, there would be no questions asked. If you've fought Valkeng in Valoredge form... yeah, that'd be nice if mine hit for 100dmg per swing with Hastex10 and had 100% TP every 8 seconds, and took 10~15 dmg per hit...

What's base STR on Valoredge at L.75? Like 80+? That's pretty nuts... With Attuner and Tension Spring II, Target Marker and Heat Seeker, (perhaps with that new attachment that smells like haste) Valoredge damage output seems like it could be devastating and incredibly reliable. I just sent my Lv.68 Valoredge on an Om'yovra and it hit for 11~15 dmg every hit and probably had a 80~85% hit ratio. I think it even stunned it with Shield Bash.

Valoredge is good from 10-20, pretty universal considering most people suck ass. Good back up tank, decent DD and decent defense (via flash). But as soon as I got Sharpshot, then Stormwaker, I've been neglecting it. Recently I've been hitting caps on my skills like 2k exp away from my level so I guess I can throw in a little more Valoredge time.

It's a shame too because Valoredge has such a cool name a look (even though Stormwaker is incredibly cute).

    Don't judge me.

I'm stuck in sky right now on SMN But I think my Valoredge (last I checked?) was like somewhere between 71-74STR with 1775HP (Auto-Repair II) Pretty sure it wont hit 80 cause I'm 72 now. D:
