Anyone going to Otakon? (Next week, Baltimore, MD)
Driving there with some friends all the way from Illinois (yay week long road trip ^_^) Would be interesting to see who else is going.
lol Ota used to be banned from B-more cause it caused too much of a ruckus. I found that funny, considering it was B-more.Originally Posted by Jotaru

E3 gone = a good thing.
Someone outlines a VERY good reason in this thread.

I personally work for a software company; although not in the game industry. Demos fuck the living shit out of the process...This is a vastly overdue change. While the inner fan(boy) in me really enjoys the tradeshow, I've begun to see it in a different light. Did you know that companies often have to divert resources away from a project to specifically build an E3 demo? This should not be required, for by eliminating such tasks, we can curb development costs, and by association time.
Yes, it's idealistic to say that we'll end up with cheaper games because of it. What we do gain, however, is slightly less tangible. If our favorite companies save money/time, that means we'd see more games hitting the market, and quicker to boot.
Cheers, E3, you've been a good friend.
You do need a media/press pass and security is extremely tight when you go.
I've never been to one but i have read up on them.
Then again, if they opened up E3 to everyone it would be drastically overcrowded.
