I support those who kill Iraqis who have been shot at first. Now, as far as innocent civilians go, no, it's not right, but they're casualties of war. Shit happens. Death of innocents is never good, but that's life. People come and people go, how they go is different, love it or hate it.

However, as far as the Iraq subject goes, we need to be there... not taking a stand would be just as bad.
Shit happens? Easy to say that when it's not your family that was blown to pieces by a bomb. More to the point, what exactly are we "taking a stand against" in Iraq? Instead of fighting terrorists with targeted military strikes and limited intervention, which would keep international support on our side and avoid making U.S. troops into targets for Al Qaeda recruits, we're spending billions of dollars and thousands of lives on a stupid and ill-conceived invasion that has accomplished little other than diminishing our reputation throughout the world and inextricably entangling us in Iraq.

Ask yourself this; are there more terrorists now then there were 6 years ago? Are we spending lots of money that could fund schools or hospitals in the United States in Iraq? Are American soldiers dieing or being permanently crippled by the dozen every day? Have we brought anything to Iraq other than a joke of a government and sheer civil chaos?

My best friend is on his second tour in Iraq with the Corps... if he catches a bullet or loses a leg to a roadside bomb because Bush is too stupid to read a book like "Fear's Empire: War, Terrorism and Democracy" I'd be even more pissed off about this idiotic war than I already am. I'll give the man one thing... he was smart enough to hire someone intelligent enough and sinister enough to read "War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning" and to see the applications it has for rallying public opinion around a leader figure in times of war.
