I personally think you're full of shit. The Tier 2 AMs are all the same strength.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
If you're noticing Burst do more damage, it's probably because your local BRD or NIN are doing threnodies/ninjutsu.

Burst probably does do more when you don't cast Freeze.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

Light is used more than Dark, so I think thats the reason why her put more into burst than freeze.
everytime i've done freeze II it does slightly more than Burst II and i have 5 lightning/ice potency merits, it seems like aquilo's staff gives it a slight push from the extra int on it.
2 Merits in Heavenly Strike and I do notice a nice difference. Its a fantastic BP to use on mobs with strong defense because it is rarely resisted, increases with TP, and is very consistant in damage ala Nether Blast (650+ damage to all mobs in Dynamis, almost 400 damage to Bahamut, Omega on legs form etc,) However, I am not seeing enough to want to go for 3 merits. I suggest picking your 4 favorites and put 2 in Heavenly Strike and 2 in a light based BP (Ramuh or Ifrit). Then choose between Titan, Leviathan, Garuda, or Ifrit/Ramuh.
The only reason Light was used more than Darkness was for the fact that Thunder4/Thundaga3 did more damage than other spells in the same tier.
Now that AM2 spells are available, and are all the same strength (with the minor exception of Freeze2 because of the INT on the Ice/Aquilo's Staff, not to mention the elemental skill cutting down on resists), you'll probably see a lot more Darkness skillchains being made than before.
All it requires is your linkshell being capable of slightly changing strategy.
Done:
WHM Protectra LV1
WHM Shellra LV3
And I'm done. Lol at COR merits. I went back to gathering 9 merits at a time to max STR. Some BRD BLM and RDM categories might be worthwhile checking later, but I don't feel like wasting dozens of merits on them at this point.
