    Non-worksafe sigs/avatars/etc

Some people could get in serious trouble at work if they were seen with a webpage open that had pictures of nearly-nude cat girls and huge 700x400 blocks of FFXI text laden with profanity and raunchy linkshell chat which, due to FFXI's giganto-font, can be read from across the freaking room.

I realize there are no actual rules regarding this, but could everyone at least be a little considerate? Or maybe shrink your screenshots of text down a bit, at least?

(I think that any sig higher than 250px is pretty obnoxious too, regardless of the work-safe factor of its content, but that's just my opinion)

Waiting for the "how about you actually do some work while you're at your job?" replies.

When I read I'm always looking over my shoulder and have the window size adjusted to being small. Maybe that's because if anybody walks behind me they can see what's on my screen. I don't have any wall just a monitor. So everyone can see what's on my monitor if they really wanted too.

The more paranoid people at my office have rear-view mirrors affixed to their monitors. No joke.

Like these? (No, I don't have one, nobody sits behind me anyway)

As an aside, I think if you removed all the posters who read these forums at work, things would be a lot quieter around here during the day.

In front of me are clear glass windows and I use the glare off of them to see behind me. But I can never directly see behind me because the monitor is in the way of that part of the window. I have to wait 30min-1hour between what I have to do, and my bosses won't let me read a book so I have to hide the fact I am reading these forums. Supposedly, "I don't care about what I do" even though the whole thing is automated until the end and I can't do anything until it finishes.

Yep, pretty much like those. I sit in a cube, and I have a flat panel so I try to angle my monitor as parallel as I can to the outside wall of my cube.

But then I'd actually have to do work and I won't get paid to just sit on my ass and read about cool things about the game ex. samsash

If you can view forums at work, you shouldn't be that worried about obnoxious signatures that aren't WORK SAFE.

Yep, that's what I do at work, and it's funny because i'm typing up a storm on forums sometimes, and my boss smiles at me as if "Ah he must be hard at work!" and im really posting how the job sucks or something.

Not only can you turn off images within whatever browser you are using, you can block specific ones with firefox plug-ins.
