S-E should make af2 gloves do something... lol I mean they are about as useful as most of the drk af2.

The funguar wasn't great at 65, when I was 65 fighting L67 mobs, exactly how dumb would I have to be to spend 120000 exp to determine that it isn't that good at L71 fighting HNMs???
Funguar wasnt special, heck, no jugpet comes remotely close to a charmed one, but It was a decent DD in comparison to carrie.Originally Posted by Ambir

we HAVE tried different pets at different levels vs different prey at different levels. it is VERY easy to determine that a pet at level 71 sucks against a prey at level 80. There is no pet in the game that does good damage against a prey 9 levels higher.
Unless you are saying that the funguar jugpet gets some un-warrented and un-announced triple-attack-acc+50-atk+50% boost at level 70, you are wrong, plain and simple. If you are a BST, you know that low level pets suck on high level mobs. Pets cant eat sushi and wear haubergeons, they dont get sniper rings to tide the difference at level 40, they cant eat meat when their accuracy reaches a certain point. The performance of a pet is linear, you can tell how well or badly it will perform. Up until level 65, every beastmaster uses funguars as their primary jug pet since the level they can get it, and against shit that high, it sucks. It is a lot better than carrie AT EQUAL LEVEL, but not at that amount of difference.
We dont need to experience THAT jug at THAT level on THOSE monsters to know it sucks. We have already experienced EQUIVALENT comparisons many, many times over reaching 75.
still think we should get a 1-2hr ja like unlimited shot, that would atleast allow us the option of popping a 10-15 min jug for free, i would spend a week to harvest the crap for the hq attempts,
I'm way too lazy to read this pointless thread, but:

Anybody willing to grab a few buddies (hopefully a range of players from 70-75 so at least one person can have the jug con EM) and do some pet /checks in Diorama? (Assuming that's possible, which I don't know, since I don't do Ballista-type stuff) Mainly interested in the AF2 glove effect.
Edit: I guess just three friends 71,73,75 would be enough instead of dragging 5 ppl with you.

How are all of you other BSTs so sure that a lvl71 funguar wont perform at the same or better level than lvl75 cc. You can't simply say because 71 < 75. For all we know Carrie could be popping lvl70-71 and never at 75. This whole time we've been assuming carrie is uncapped. Furthermore a funguar or tiger has much stronger tp attacks than carrie. This alone could make them do more damage on average even with a lower level than cc.
Also why does everybody want an overpowered jug? The jug is not meant to be the primary DD. If SE made a DRG's wyvern pop EM then DRG would easily outdamage any other job simply for the fact that its equivalent to 2DDs.
I feel that a BST with 75 funguar would simply be too strong in merit pt's. This would sorta imbalance the game, and thus everybody would want to jump on the BST bandwagon.
The balance is already close as it is. I've merited in axe burn pt's before and my damage + pet damage is always close to what the other decent (non-riddel) wars deal. A typical parse might show the 3 wars with 26ish percent damage per mob each while my contribution is like 18% for me and 5% for jug damage. So I might be 3-5% lower in damage contribution which is fine by me. I know I'm not totally gimping the xp.
Thats with carrie averaging around 60% accuracy. If somehow her accuracy was boosted to even 85% then I could probably match most wars. Now replace carrie with a funguar and its a game unbalanced.
Fact is that most people don't parse their fights. They only see epeen numbers. BST will always be disrespected because their rampage will be much less than a similar equipped war's. But what they don't see is the jug plinking away adding that extra damage to make up for it.
You, along with Joetheplatypus, lack reading comprehension.Originally Posted by Spur

Uhhhhhh we're not even talking about which type of mob outperforms the other dude, we're talking about can they frigging hit level 80 mobs. No. They can not hit the mamools, they can barely hit decos, how do I know? Because I spent millions of gil at the end of my BST career trying to make it worthy, millions of gil on new jugpets/foods trying to make things better, HQ'ing my AF2 hands for the possibility the pet will pop higher, etc etc. I'm not talking out of my ass, I talk from my experience. How are all of you other BSTs so sure that a lvl71 funguar wont perform at the same or better level than lvl75 cc. Dude every BST so far has said carrie isnt 75.For all we know Carrie could be popping lvl70-71 and never at 75.
Did you even read our posts? Nobody's assumed it's uncapped, we're assuming it's mid to high 60's, early 70's at max. This whole time we've been assuming carrie is uncapped.
So you understand why we want them now, good job.Furthermore a funguar or tiger has much stronger tp attacks than carrie. This alone could make them do more damage on average even with a lower level than cc.
BST's main DD not coming from the jug ? Did you even level BST? Most of the damage comes from the pet, we are the subtle damage on the side + rampage at the end to finish the mob off. Also why does everybody want an overpowered jug? The jug is not meant to be the primary DD.
We're not DRG. The pet is the main dmg, it's not like DRG where they are the main damage and have Melee traits like Acc/Attack bonus. All we have to support ourselves are "Killer" traits for when we pull hate occasionally. If SE made a DRG's wyvern pop EM then DRG would easily outdamage any other job simply for the fact that its equivalent to 2DDs.
What's wrong with that? Heaven forbid they make us stronger instead of spamming nerfga on the jobs.I feel that a BST with 75 funguar would simply be too strong in merit pt's. This would sorta imbalance the game, and thus everybody would want to jump on the BST bandwagon.
Being the weakest in the party might be fine by you, but considering you are counting two beings in the party (you and your pet) and you are still weaker than the job that is your mimic without a pet, I dont see that as balanced or even, people are 3-5% better/stronger than you.The balance is already close as it is. I've merited in axe burn pt's before and my damage + pet damage is always close to what the other decent (non-riddel) wars deal. There we go, our "best" jugpet from a 75 BST cant even hit as good as a lvl71 WAR.Thats with carrie averaging around 60% accuracy.
Why is it unbalanced, because we're strong? Because the pet acts like a pet? Heaven forbid. If somehow her accuracy was boosted to even 85% then I could probably match most wars. Now replace carrie with a funguar and its a game unbalanced.
Yeah, my parse with CC showing less than 4% on the parser on multiple occasions was enough to win me over. Seeing on my battle log "The courrier carrie misses the decorative weapon" x6 in a row with AF2 gloves, on a mob without decent evasion, was enough to make me realise it's frigging broken in a negative way.Fact is that most people don't parse their fights. They only see epeen numbers. BST will always be disrespected because their rampage will be much less than a similar equipped war's. But what they don't see is the jug plinking away adding that extra damage to make up for it.
I just don't know how you can say that, but then follow it up by saying you only "come close" to axe/axe or axe/joy WARs.Originally Posted by Spur
Besides that, your whole post doesn't really address the specifics of the Affinity merit. No offense, but it's just more tangential (and pointless) commentary of meripo BST in general.
/rerail please? :/
Wafik,
stop posting and go watch Rove,
Even if cc has 40% acc she is adding damage is she not? We're not really talking about accuracy, but more on total damage.Uhhhhhh we're not even talking about which type of mob outperforms the other dude, we're talking about can they frigging hit level 80 mobs.
Lol, assuming its in that range, capping bst affinity should be really attractive to you would it not?Did you even read our posts? Nobody's assumed it's uncapped, we're assuming it's mid to high 60's, early 70's at max.
Maybe there is a miscommunication here. Are we talking solo or meripo? Perhaps that is why yall are misunderstanding joeetheplatypus as well. It seems he is talking about the improvement of bst with bst affinity in meripo. If solo then I'd certainly expect my pet to do most of the damage. However if I could call that same pet every 5min in meripo we would be overpowered right?BST's main DD not coming from the jug ? Did you even level BST? Most of the damage comes from the pet, we are the subtle damage on the side + rampage at the end to finish the mob off.
If say you + pet parsed out to be the same damage as the wars would you still be unhappy? I don't understand how you could be unhappy with that. Also there will always be a player that is the weakest in the party. Does that mean he should change jobs? In my eyes as long as everybody is in the ballpark then the party isn't gimped.Being the weakest in the party might be fine by you, but considering you are counting two beings in the party (you and your pet) and you are still weaker than the job that is your mimic without a pet, I dont see that as balanced or even, people are 3-5% better/stronger than you.
What was your damage + pet damage percent? If you found that that 4% from carrie made you do more damage then another player would you still think you were gimped? Or if capping bst affinity raised that 4% to 8% would you be unhappy with that? I see SE releasing something that helps bst in meripo. It's can only be a positive thing, but it seems most bst here are unhappy with it cause it wont make CC alone do the same damage as a war. Like i said, most people need to focus more on the cumulative bst+pet damage.Yeah, my parse with CC showing less than 4% on the parser on multiple occasions was enough to win me over. Seeing on my battle log "The courrier carrie misses the decorative weapon" x6 in a row with AF2 gloves, on a mob without decent evasion, was enough to make me realise it's frigging broken in a negative way.
I held off for this last merit update out of a last strand of hope that SE would come to their senses, the potential was there. . .but they failed, yet again
Summoner finally got the bloodpacts I had been waiting to use for two years of being a 75 summoner, and they suck. Barely outdamage tier 4 avatar magic.
i'm not at all impressed with the drg additions, but bst held the most potential for me of being somewhat fixed. But it seems SE failed with it too
I just moved on, Square enix is a company that only implements what they think is right, and when they do take advice of players, they implement the ideas horribly wrong. Surprised that I lasted so long with this shit game dominated by prideful japanese, most of wich dislike NA with a passion, and overrun with gilsellers and botters, most of wich forced to bot just to have a chance at a king. lol Screw you SE is all I can say, and I definitly won't be playing anymore of their games

Acc is really the issue with all pets. A level 75 magmatic eruca has ~25% acc against a VT puppet master troll. I doubt CC will hit anything in mamook, particularly when he's blinded 80% of the time.
I've probably spent more on my bst than anyone on these boards or over most servers. Until I sold off all my gear I also easily out-did fully merited dual axe wars easily on D. weapons. Most of this was due to having a temperance axe and beingfully merited
As I've said before, I have level 1 Beast affinity and I will finish it off simply because I like to see blue next to beastmaster job merits. I also don't have anything else to merit besides rdm (and rdm isn't getting any merits anytime soon). This will help my damage a bit, but not by much and probably not noticeable.
If SE wanted to help us out a bit they would give us pet-aggressor, pet-unlimited-shot, not shit +6.
