    Was that it? -Job updates

    from the sounds of it many of the merit options like the throw axe war /ja and the like were mentioned during the fanfest as revisions to current jobs,

    PLD as you will recall got the auto-refresh and shield mastery etc, and everyone was sitting on thier hands eagerly awaiting the special treatment for their class, but anyone else think that the merits were "it"?

    They also mentioned some BPs like earthen ward would be affected by summoning skill. That's all I can remember though

    A lot of merits in the group 2 categories do make me think exactly of the changes they were talking about although there are some ideas they still haven't touched yet. They were too cautious with the merits though, a lot of the abilities they added aren't strong enough to warrant the recast times they gave them, but I hope though that they expand the categories soon one way or another.

    look, dont get me wrong, im not trying to incite or hint onto anything,

    but i can just see the next dumb ass interview the next so called reporter has with SE where after he spends 99% of the interview asking about how wonderful is the improvements to the tavern in Tau is going to be and then asks "hows the job updates coming along?" and they answer "we made the updates in the july update, we are really happy with them, and our Sony GM's really like their jobs, and mentioned there is nothing we need to do about RMT, and everyone is happy with the level of competence etc.... oh and we are now adding stools so people can stand around the stools in the tavern,"

    I think there was a thread a month ago about an interview in August that someone would post the results of here? I hope it's soon as I'd like to know why they thought it would be a good idea to make a hnm drop some gear set for drgs and sams that looks like it tries to encourage soloing among several other things.

    They boosted daggers, not Thief. There is still at the least a 2 hour upgrade to thief. Honestly don't see anything else coming for us after the dagger boost though.

    Well, there are still some things missing. They mentioned wanting to give DRKs incentive to use scythe more; that's not happening. They also said they want to give SMNs a reason to have their avatars out more. They just made it even less of a reason with new BPs cause they cost more MP.

    I'm not saying they're actually going to do something about it, but they did say they were.

    Jobs haven't changed. DRKs and DRGs will still be deemed as gimp, THF will still be generally bad (depending on the THF and the mob), SMNs still BP and release, and BLMs still just nuke the shit out of things.

    But the update did give people a chance to individualize and explore the job further which is always interesting.

    Seriously just make Last Resort 2 minutes and people might suddenly have that incentive to merit that "haste to 2-hand weapons" option.

    I think they are headed towards the right direction. Just hope it gets better from here on. :T

    I think Ambush was put in place instead of making it only active during 2hr. I know they said they'd make it so you do more dmg or something (did they ever say what it would be anyway), but ambush is pretty much what they seem to have been describing. :\

    The steal thing is Aura steal.

    The dagger dmg change is the best thing for thf this update. Oh well.

    I dunno...isn't Guillotine a drk's most powerful ws? And absorb-TP lets them spam that and get more overall out of scythe. That'd give me more incentive to use scythe, but I haven't taken drk past 43 yet

    The dagger upgrade makes it so the top thieves can be forces to be reckoned with but your average thief will still be meh in a burn party. Just how I like it.

    thats kind of why i thought this should be discussed, they added non 75spells to a few jobs aswell, like tp drain, to me it looks like "that was it, enjoy"

    i hope not though

    Adding stools so people can stand around the stools in the tavern? Brilliant! Brilliant
    But I think there might be more job balancing coming just because the new merits only affect lvl75, it sounded like they wanted to balance the jobs in general not just endgame. The abs-TP for dark is an example of something that changes the job at all levels from 45 up, there might be more changes like that on the way, or at least there should be.

    like someone said before.. they were really cautious in not making these new merits overpowered... in the future if need be, it will be easier to adjust up, than to nerf something(though we all know how SE likes to swing that nerf bat >_> )

    maybe they'll do like they did first tier merits where the total number of upgrades was increased

    they added alot of changes this update.. they need to take time to see how players react to them once a majority of people start getting more merits and playing around with the abilities

    overall i think it was a good update, save for a few things(smn merits, some latent gear, hydra), most jobs ended up better than what they started with

    Back when it was first talked about, some dev mentioned changing the 2hr so that all hits from behind would be critical hits while it was active.
