The only thing I liked about CoP missions was the feeling you get after you finally beat the snoll, airship, whatever after losing 55 times. I really felt like I accomplished something cause they were so difficult.

In my opinion level 75s are just flat out strong. Too strong I'd say. I think SE isn't as creative as we wish, but its harder making something hard for 75s without it being too hard than it is doing the same for level 50s and 60s... the same game is more balanced around those levels.Originally Posted by aers
I only enjoyed CoP because I had a good group of friends that I did most of my missions with and I'm a bit of a fan of a good story. I could've lived without the level caps and all but I owe it to the people I did the missions with for not loathing everything in CoP.
All the complaints are understandable though, the missions didn't add much to the story besides confirming other ACs are out there and it doesn't take too long to shoot through them. The whole update is looking pretty bad to me at the moment, either the next update is excellent or I'll be picking up PSU and not coming back again.
Lets not forget chocobo digging lol. This update would look a lot better if SE released all at once. You would think SE is good at hiding bad material with good material.
COP missions were fine, COP end-game sans limbus sucked massive balls though.

They were fine only if you had a static or a bunch of sane people from your LS. Due to my timezone, I had soo much trouble with CoP, took me forever and many pickup parties to get to sea.
I was never able to get that feeling. One-shotted every COP mission aside from a failed first attempt on Ouryu when a member DC'd mid-fight. IMO, the challenges you find in WoW are much greater and more varied (more so in Naxxramas and AQ40 than MC or BWL). However, I still enjoyed the dialogue and cinematic presentation of the COP missions, up until I quit (after getting sea), and I think that the continuing storyline rather than the difficulty of encounters is what keeps most people coming back for more FFXI.Originally Posted by Gregorio

The only kind of "hard" we see if stuff that require particular setup/strategy, but they cant do that or 3/4 of the peope would have to leech the BC.
For CoP mission, almost any job could go and do good, as long they had nin sub in most case. A balanced xp party (tank, healer, dd) could do everything and it was still challenging. People also had more job to choice since there is obviously more lv30/40/50/60job than level 75
All they had to do to fix the level cap annoyance was to create a full set of armor that scaled with levels. It didn't even have to be that great, just something for people to use without muling an hour everytime their party wanted to do one of those level capped BCs.
Like I say evertime, you could just buy a piece of armor on AH for 5-10k and 2 weapon and undercut it after by 2-3k to sell fast.Originally Posted by Kurp
RSE lv 30, AF weapon and body would cover what you need for 3/4 of the BC too.
Ok theses missions had totall xbox360 and people with ADD feel to it. The headstone NM was harder then the BC.
I miss the CoP type BC that made people think about what to do(yes they were a bitch but after you beat one you felt alot of pride). Alot of people after getting sea knew alot more about there jobs and expanded there vision of what there job can do.
Sofar if this is it for another 3-6months I give it a thumbs down.
They said this expansion was for high lvls... why dont they make the missions good for high lvls then :/. I think they should make the town for 70-75 onry and you cant get in unless your in that lvl range. Would make beseiged alot less laggy to from lvl1-69 just there for the free exp.
That's what I did cause I was playing WHM at the time, hell I used that -enmity pumpkin head for most of CoP. Most tanks/melee get all anal though.Originally Posted by Kaylia
The thing about trying to balance making a story to accompany lower level players and making it so they can actually do them is that not a lot of players at level 30, 40, or even 50 think about doing CoP or ZM stories. Aside from doing the rank missions for your home city, I highly doubt a lot of up-and coming players even thought about doing story missions. I mean there was sky and if you didn't have sky by the time you got to 75 then you couldn't xp anywhere but KRT before CoP and TAU came out. So while saying that accomodating for these low to mid 60's players is kind of a false reality in terms of difficulty. If anything making these BCs challenging for 75's would only fuel these other players (even shitty ones) to get their characters to 75 thus prolonging their playtime. While even at 75, there are players that are just too strong, having some sort of difficulty factor at that level would be nice.
Not to mention that part of even getting to Whitegate is the quest for the boat pass which requires a testimony, bunch of money, or something else which I can't think of at the moment. I think SE assumed that players who went to whitegate were at 75 or close to it to get there. So making the story revolve around that player base would have been a good notion imo.
Or just do like they do in Assault and choose your cap for the BC >.> that seems to work well in most case.
Nah, can get away with cheap gear no accessory with melee. Only important thing is the weapon and nin sub. Only the tank need decent gear, but buying 200-300k of gear before the BC and selling it back for the same when you're done isn't that bad.
Only fight where people have to be serious about gear is Ultima/Omega, but AF works fine in almost every case. Good pt will beat it no problem with crap gear.
Pretty sure you could get a pass to whitegate with subjob items.
