looks to be 87.44% damage Mijin, from the HP he stated ( 1250 )Originally Posted by Lockecole
Meh... I was in a uncapped ballista with a Galka 75 NIN once, and he Mijined in the middle, of a group of mages on our team, and killed them all... dunno if he had a Giant's Drink in effect, or what his Subjob was... but man... that surprised me... I keep chat filters on in ballista though, so I can't guess at what the numbers were...
It might ignore hp gear like certain latent effect do (unicorn set)
Like omg fren it's based of HP and how many hours you've contributed to the COOL DUDEZ INC. empire!
I agree with Ryko and Russta.
Pretty certain it's just HP and resist... I don't even think weakening it to fire is necessary. I'm almost certain that Mijin Gakure is not elemental based (same kind of damage as Chi-Blast or Spirits), and it's very easy to test.
Cerberus takes almost no damage from any magic, and yet Mijin still hits him hard. Omega while on two legs takes 0 magic damage, and yet Mijin still hits him hard. With magic shield up Ultima resists all magic damage, and yet Mijin still hits him hard, etcetc. Bahamut will resist fire magic, but Mijin still does a lot on him.
Highest ever:

People still cast barfira in dynamis against nin, and it seem to work. But again, you can land it easy on fire elemental, so its probably not fire resist.Pretty certain it's just HP and resist... It wouldn't be the first time that a mob ability was different from a player ability, even though they have the same name (same with a lot of abilities actually). I can already think of one major difference... A mob's Mijin Gakure hits everyone near it, yet ours is single target.Originally Posted by Kaylia

I dont think HP has much to do w/it, cuz I've seen some Kijin for more then there HP, Max HP maybe?
but resists and debuffs probably have a big role in em, like stated earlier....
cuz barfira lessens damage done to players by mobs
maybe CHR?
Mijin isn't spirit damage, Hydra is immune to spirit damage and mijin does damage to it.
Incorrect. Hydra severly resists magic damage, period. Hi2u 30 damage Burst2.Originally Posted by aers
That's not my point.. My point is that it's not elemental magic damage, just like Spirits Within and Chi-Blast. I don't necessarily mean that it's the exact same as those two.Originally Posted by aers
He didn't say it was magical, he just said it wasn't spiritual. Spirits within, formless, strikes, chi blast, spirit taker, etc do 0 damage to hydra or just flat out miss or faiil. Mijin, however, doesn't.
Edit:it would also have a multiplier on cerb if it were, and from what I see it doesn't.
Doublt edit: Not putting words into your mouth <_<
You posted like a split second after me, your post was loaded along with mine when I clicked to view my post.
I so type faster.
There are only two kinds of damage. Physical and magical.Originally Posted by Ryko
"Spiritual damage" is just another term for non-elemental magic damage (Spirits Within, Meteor).
Spirit Taker deals physical damage.
When it comes to Hydra, my Nether Blast also does zero damage, but my new elemental Bloodpacts do approx. 12-14 damage. This suggests that Hydra immune to at least dark elemental damage. Whether or not its immune to non-elemental magical damage has yet to be determined, but it suggests that Mijin Gakure, while a magical attack, may not be non-elemental (in this case, this may prove it does actual fire damage).
Nether Blast also does 0 as well, despite not being spiritual damage. So Hydra is not only immune to spiritual damage, but also really consistent, non-random, predictable magic damage. Magic with an element of unpredictability and randomness in the equation will do damage, however, it is just severely reduced.
EDIT: Typed this at the same time as the post above me, so it is directed at the people before that.
Not a smn so I wouldnt know, does netherblast get a boost against cerb?
No, it doesn't. Cerberus has a hard magical resistance much like a CoP Wyrm (although less so).Originally Posted by Ryko

I've always thought that Mijin Gakure was mostly based off a mob's fire resistance. Then, I was proved wrong by countless efforts on testing on mobs like Tiamat, Jormungand and such. The highest Mjijin I've done was to a TW Rabbit for 1092 dmg. Pretty pathetic, but meh.
Its entirely possible that the Mijin used between players and mobs are different (as someone suggested). Mijin used by a player is probably very consistant (like Nether Blast and Spirits Within), however, Mijin used by mobs seems like it can be resisted like any old fire spell (Barfire reduces damage).
