People laughed about WAR/WHM then saw it worked somewhat, people laughed at NIN/DRK till Rukenshin owned everyone, I don't see why NIN/WHM would not be any different. Seems like it would do great with the proper setup for hate on HNM. Then again thinking outside the box is not allowed in FFXI for the most part.

we used 2x nin/war our first time- went pretty smooth
then like eudon wanted to be fancy and go nin/drk another time
then one time we had nin/war + pld/war tanking
etc
lots of areas for experimentation in this fight since alot of methods work. as long as your group is comfortable with the tanks, then it should never be a problem.
the only problem we've ever encountered was due to adds not being taken care of properly.. and that caused a loss
as long as:
1) people listen the RDMs/BRDs on when to nuke the elementals/worms
2) everyone spam cures on the tanks during a terror
things usually go fine

Oh, Im all for odd and workable job combos - nin/whm is a fucking monster on wyrms and part of our usual setup for tiamat. Its just that Ouryu is badarse, no elegy or slow, no stun for ga and spams the hell out of AoE, im suprised nin/anything can do well at it. Im sure they'd hold hate just fine, but how do you keep a nin tank alive through such intense aoe damage? We dont even use PLD/NIN in that BC.Originally Posted by Heian
This sounds like an excellent example of where Phalanx II could make a huge difference. Ouryu can be manageable or a total ass, depending on terror spam which I'm convinced is triggered by the usage of 2hr's.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if that was true. We've pulled Ouryu with Flash + Invcincible before, just to see how much damage we could do early on. Id have to disagree with the terror/2hr correlation. We have had fights where hes spammed terror and not once has any 2hr been used. Then again, in all our fights, we have never seen the katana drop.
