I never noticed any magic nerf in Ballista. My nukes, as a BLM, hit for about the same as on any regular mob. Even oneshotted a Galka Monk with over 2k HP the other day.
Lightningday with obi and pants and Burst 2. Was funny as hell.

If you're going to test how INT/MND effect Banish, you'd do best trying it on level 1 bunnies like melee attacks.
My guess is INT effects Banish over MND. Because SE is lazy with their programming code.
I don't wanna test how MND affects banish, I wanna test what type of MND a mob would have at a specific level, so testing on lvl 1 bunnies wouldnt help much, as I don't know what kinda MND they have.Originally Posted by Jeryhn
Unless someone can prove to me that magic is indeed nerfed in Ballista, I'll be making my tests there.
You need about 70 more MND than the mob to reach the 30% Slow cap.Originally Posted by Lockecole
In general normal mobs have similar base MND to their level... (as players do). HNMs may be different, but it's harder to get Tiamat to sit still to let you test (damn NIN tanks wanting multiple slow on poor Timmy at all times...).
You can find that out by having 3 DRK cast absorb mind at the same time (naked so no +stats)Originally Posted by Lockecole
then see how much each one drains. Repeat untill you see the same'ish results.
Unless your absorb is different from the mob's stats, dont see why this shouldnt work.
After abs-mind or shock, they have 1 mnd.Originally Posted by Lockecole
magic damage is definitely nerfed in ballista. can barely hit 1k with thunder4. but with all that potency gear and burst 2, i'm sure what you said is possible.Originally Posted by Judai
Really? ah well, I like never Ballista. I just didn't notice anything different the other day. Was just fooling around with AM2s and stuff cause some people asked me to play. Everyone was rofling when I oneshotted the Galka MNK tho.Originally Posted by Tilo
Divine > Enfeebling >>>> Enhancing >>> Healing was the order I capped my magic on WHM.Originally Posted by Correction
Divine is really easy to cap. I capped divine before I capped evasion on WHM.
really don't need ballista test: just use the black magic damage formulas
( (INT vs monsterINT) x tier value ) + spell's base = Damage set
(Damage set x MAB value) x staff/day/weather bonus = accually damage
just replace INT with MND and the tier value for Banish III is 1.5, the spell's base I don't know
to find the spell's base just go abs-mnd a LV1 monster so you know all values except the spell's base
using a whm just don;t sub blm or rdm and don't wear a staff so you can factor off MAB staff/day/weather bonuses
I did this test along time ago, I never really wrote it down, but Tiamat had 80+/-5 MND from memory
just takes alittle alegebra, nothing to advanced

I thought it was common knowledge among RDMs by now...Originally Posted by Raineer
This is common knowledge to good rdms, which means it's pretty arcane.
RDM friend of mine, actually one of the best rdms on the server I think, casts his enfeebles with the mnd+9 wand. I was thinking about buying him Mistelteinn when there was a dude selling it for 10m (pretty cheap for its rarity) but I think someone else snapped it up.
If you took a poll I'd say a solid 70% would tell you Terra's Staff is best, another 20% probably m.acc, then you have the few, the proud, the elitesOriginally Posted by nivlakian
Forgive my n00bishness concerning RDM spells but wouldn't a Terra's Staff help you land (not talking about potency) Slow better then a MND+ weapon?
Yes, but since when do red mages get resisted on anything not completely immune to the enfeeble?
I dunno I filter all that shit <_<
Silly galka.
Wait, Cerberus!
(Even though we actually don't have RDMs Slow him, we got into the habit of having WHMs do a cycle of ES Slow)
Considering WHM can get a higher MND cap then RDM, (potentially) as far as Slow 1 is concerned, WHM is actually a better ESer on Cerb then RDM. Kinda sadOriginally Posted by Krandor
