I like touhou , but 3d model with no mapping, and no color arent that amazing. I'm not saying you can make this in 5min, but its not particularly impressive.

Not even sure what you could use to make that... swish3d/flash, maya3d, 3D custom girl, metasequoia, 3d studio max, cinema 4D can't do such fluid motion even in/weights on stuff without an insane amount of time/work ;/ They put alot of detail on the models... even the chest bounces!

When I first saw this, I thought they were characters from some Anime or visual novel and I looked around frantically for it. Sadly, they're from some game franchise that does like low-key (in the U.S. at least) 2D shooters and fighting games.

I think if they did this with characters from an actual Anime or Visual Novel (like Fate/Stay Night), it would be an excellent marketing campaign. The problem with using it as they did, however, is that they drew a ton of attention to characters that aren't likely to ever be developed.

Touhou is easily one of the most drawn things you can possibly find. There are likely millions of images floating around. Beyond that, there was an anime.

about 99.99999% of touhou stuff is fan made, but so what? It's decent quality (Minus a few mishaps, hurr.) The game was made by one person as far as I know. Apparently he did all the animation, sound, etc. And "Drawn" meaning its outrageously popular. There are so many fan-images it'll literally blow your mind. Touhou pretty much has highjacked every form of media you can imagine. There are games(The original, visual novels, fighting games, etc.) animations, pictures, a (HUUUUUGE) bank of music, etc.

I see. I'm somewhat of a continuity junky though, so worlds (or in this case, perhaps "franchise" would be a better term?) that span several genres with myriads of different writers and visions typically don't appeal to me.

I guess what I'm saying is: What is it that even ties the forms together? What does "Touhou" define? Is it just a style? Is it a world? Is it a franchise? Is it just a label that people throw onto a piece of media to dip into a pre-existing fan base?

O.o Perhaps Touhou is a database of conceptual art made available to the masses. In other words, if you need a character for a story you've written, or music for a video etc. Or the other way around; if you see a character that you would like to develop, or a song you want to make a video for, or something along those lines...

I like that idea, though I don't think it's anything I'm ever likely to get into.
