SE has already stated they are making another MMO. It may not be FF related but they have another MMO in the works. That should tell you all you need to know about the changes you will see coming in this game. Back to the drawing board.

Yeah! And the fact that they make RPGs other than the FF series means the FF series has always failed!Originally Posted by Eternus
Sorry but MMORPGs arent generic copies. They can be entirely different games. Its the reason people who compare WoW to FFXI are idiots: they are completely different games, just because X works in WoW doesnt mean it will work in FFXI.
Ten bucks says "HP" will be involved.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus

It isn't worthwhile putting forth effort into fixing issues in a MMO you already have made when you already have one in development. Just too much work for SE to do on their part. Look at how the new MMO is on Xbox360, PC and PS3 only for a good tip on the graphics changes in particular. Face it man, FFXI is done. Stick a fork in it.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus
...idiot. If it was that done they wouldn't add any patches for it. Its a completely seperate team. SE doesn't focus the entire company in one venture, its a fucking huge company. Don't be so idiotic.Originally Posted by Eternus
Patches are mediocre upgrades and updates to a game that are made to placate the userbase that pays monthly fees. Keeps us from all cancelling our accounts with their feeble attempts at "fixing" a game that is broken at its very core (level cap lol and mob/gear progression). All MMOs turn to crap and are done eventually. Even though people still play EQ1 that does not mean it isn't done. FFXI was done 2 years ago, yet people like me and you still pay for it. They can make updates and patches forever. SE will never fix the real problems that plague FFXI.
An Xbox 360 code port isn't a simple patch or mediocre upgrade. It's quite a large investment simply to keep us from cancelling our accounts, wouldn't you say?Originally Posted by Eternus
Im still amazed that people want better gear than what they got already. what the fuck you gonna do when you get the new gear? The same shit you doing right now with the great gear you have. I dont see why people cant get the items they always wanted and be happy.
That is why I am saying they will not do it. PS2 userbase is the beginning core userbase of this game (was released in Japan on PS2 first) and it dooms the very existence of FFXI. Game would have to be Xbox360 and PC only to have upgraded graphics. That does not fix the 3 kings and the game breaking past level 80.
You're missing that people want complete progression in the game. This includes, but is not limited to, better gear, better fights, better crafting expansion, etc. Do you really expect everyone to do "the same shit" and continue playing? Patience is wearing thin and that constant 500k player base SE seems to enjoy is going to drop soon if they think monotony with newer gear is what people want.Originally Posted by Veli
Better gear is just the bait of doing new fun things. People want to do things(that are challenging or fun or both) for things they can value as trophies and tools for new (and hopefully funner or more challenging) tasks. It seems like a basic concept, doesn't matter if you want to side-grade your gear progression or what, but SE screws it up 80% of the time.Originally Posted by Veli
3 Kings is an issue of SE wanting things to be rare and hard to obtain, and putting blinders up as to what functionally that means in terms of actual players and gameplay.Originally Posted by Eternus
The game breaking Lv80? at Lv75 we burn VT mobs and barely IT mobs for EXP, what the hell would we do at level 80 beyond making the existing HNM too easy and satisfying the e-peens of people that want Lv40 Sub Job abilities. Raising the level cap would (in it's current state) ruin the game.
Someone suggested raising merit caps, that would improve flexible game play. Or add more to the additional merits, new spells and abilities and traits. Even just a generic trait merits for all jobs. Merit Fast Cast, Conserve MP, Attack Bonus or Evasion Bonus. PLD/NIN Merit Provoke, or maybe Dragon Killer Trait?
No shit I just said that. If SE has to raise the level cap any more by artificial means then it is proof that the game is doomed lol. Hell the existence of relic weapons alone tells you that they can't raise the cap. There is no next Genkai.. the game will never progress to where the stuff you are fighting today is not even worthy of mention. People will still camp Nidhogg more than they do AV 3 years from now. No room for progression in FFXI period. The game hit its ceiling years ago.Originally Posted by Aodh
When assault was first announced I had hopes that it would be more of an action oriented affair. While Im not really dissapointed because Assault is fun I still think the game could benefit from a change of pace that wouldn't require S-E to totally rework the game.
I was personally hoping for more of a 3-6 member instance based zerg rush type of battle fields.
For example:
HP and MP and TP automatically regened at a fixed rate in addiction to what ever buffs you give yourself.
Mobs would just be tossed at players as they made progress through the instance and it would be our job to lolzergrush complete with random temporary items like the mines used in the libros assault and random other obstacles in the way like the typical "split up and hit the switches, open the way and watch for the baddies that poor out of the opening." type of deal.
S-E wouldnt have to totally reprogram the game to do things like this and it would add some fast paced action which could help keep the game fresh and keep people interested.
It probably sounds silly I guess but I think it would be a lot of fun.
ffxi has 1-2 more expansions left before SE makes the decision to announce date on new mmo. Even then they will probably still keep ffxi servers up for quite sometime after new mmo is playable.
There's so many wrong things with the game yet there are so many right... if I had to pick 1 absolute thing to fix it would be sea, that place is a fucking trainwreck... pop items not 100%, 3 ix'aerns which pop at completely fucking random times and 1 appears to have no set spwaning method besides praying. And need I remind you of AV? And how often sea torques drop?
If I was to fix other things though I would go on (in this order): Striciter policy on gil sellers... someone who sits in sky all day with a name like "Spidermanzw" is not a player who has more time on his hands, its a fucking gil seller. I would make some alternate way of obtaining the body ABJs, that makes them as equally rare as they are now, but at least have more than 1 possibility for them. And I would make the entire GM staff actually play the game and know what they are talking about... like that person who said he could get his rajas (I think?) back, that made me rofl irl for a few minutes. And change the policy so "this matter will be looked into" would never be said again.
Thats not progression, thats doing the same shit over and over. This game is old now people just need to accept the fact that they beat the game already. The gear out now is fine and you can tell its fine because everything in this game is so damn easy.Originally Posted by Miji
Not-so-hardcore players deserve not-so-hardcore gear.
The player base that continues to sit in DA,VoS,BD everyday for 3 hours deserves better gear than the player base who sits in Jeuno or Alzabi waiting for their assault tags. Its been SE's motto for years now. Don't wanna camp Argus for a month and 10ACC? Here's a BCNM that drops a slightly worse version, Spectacles. Alot Assault/Quest/etc items are great, but don't expect them to be Ridills. I'm not saying i agree with it 100%, but this is SE's mentality and they aren't budging so stop bitching.
I know there's plenty of foreign factors that go into this, such as RMT and botting etc. Back in the day if you weren't botting you were simply wasting your time. But most endgame players have gotten to the point where botting is expected, and hell, botting isn't anywhere near as devastating as it used to be since the delay patch.
Another thing many people fail to realize is that SE likely never intended to replace Abjuration sets/Dynamis gear sets. Major Zilart NM drops focused on Weapons/Head/Body/Hands/Leg/Feet slots. Most of the items implemented in RoZ are still the best (3kings+Dynamis), or one of the best options for all those slots. There's exceptions but for the most part this remains consistent with all jobs.
Likewise, CoP mainly focused on accessories. The best rings/earrings/mantles/waist/neck etc etc etc all come from CoP areas/missions/NMs. Again, There's exceptions but for the most part this remains consistent with all jobs.
IMO, they are only 2-3 improvements away from putting this game on the correct path again.
1. Instanced Dynamis
2. Fix Jorm/Tiamat/Vrtra loot.
3. Make Sea pop item drop rates 100%.
Ah yes, instanced dynamis would be fanfuckingtastic as well <_< we have 234987 nub LSs who want to do dynamis on kujata nowadays \(*'')/
and you think they are anywhere on this path after seeing Hydra and Cerberus?Originally Posted by phirien
