If you choose muse over radiohead it just means you've never listened to radiohead.
Funny, I'd say the same thing, except replace Radiohead with Muse and visa versa.Originally Posted by Enkidu

But I think the two bands are similar but not close enough to compare like that. I mean, vocally similar, both electronic, both experimental...
but Muse has much more intensity and radiohead a lot more experimental.
Whenever I listen to Muse all I can think is "these guys are trying really hard to sound like Radiohead, but it isn't working". I will say that Muse are better then anything on the radio, but that's not really saying much
Anyways I'm just basing this off of "Showbiz" and "Absolution", I haven't and probably won't listen to the new cd, but I looked up the review on pitchfork and well... it definitely gave me a few laughs. I like the last paragraph the most:
What's most difficult of all to look past is that Black Holes was created in all earnestness by three dudes in Hot Topic shirts advancing a vision of rock music that operates on three fundamental assumptions: 1) distortion is always better than no distortion; 2) every measure of music should contain at least one drum fill; and 3) the future will be dominated by robots. Muse leave no room for compromise on these points. So for peace of mind, call them retro, because they can't reasonably consider such a vision inventive or resonant in 2K6. Can they?
Origins of Symetry is a great CD. The new Black Holes and Revelations is interesting, it really does seem like a throw back to the 80's like Prince and some Queen ect. Its pretty good, and honestly I need to pick up some radiohead. I am not bias at all when it comes to music, I'll give any band a chance. Anything you Radiohead fans can recomend?Originally Posted by Enkidu
I really had to let Black Holes grow on me, especially because it was so different, but alot of the songs really work after awhile. Granted in a different way than Absolution for instance (which I love also.) I'm pissed they were in Philly and yet I had no way to get out of work...probably never see them live again.Originally Posted by Heian
Also on another note Heian, I've been listening to the latest Thrice CD that you recommended..and I was a little skeptical, but alot of the songs hit me really well. Felt like they were trying too hard in the beginning, but when I really listened to the lyrics they felt really unique. I like the whole theme of sacrifice...and "For Miles" hits really close to home. It's so haunting, I'm really drawn to songs like that. Now for Russta to kill me for ending up liking them. >.>
Hahah yeah sometimes the vocals are a little over done but when you sit back and put it all together: Lyrics, Vocals and Music. Its really awesome, some songs are more "meh" than other but over all its one of thier best to date.Originally Posted by Lockecole

appleseed cast
not that muse is not a great band radiohead is just more my style i guess
nvm
... and they're both very good for that reason. So I voted both, they're both good at what they do.Originally Posted by Mekami
I just saw Muse when they came through Minneapolis, it was pretty awesome. They do a lot of good stuff for a 3 and 1/3 person band, whereas Radiohead is 5?
Johnny Greenwood is pretty godly though. I guess I prefer Muse but I own all albums by both bands they're all pretty good.

anyone hear the new Muse album? I heard it was pretty mainstream/softcore
I know a bit of Muse, but I would have to go with Radiohead on this one, they keep releasing stellar albums and each one is different in its own way.
The video for Paranoid Android is enough to blow ur mind
The concert in Philly was amazing, Locke 8)
Some random songs I really like are "The Pyramid Song", "Black Star" and "Scatterbrain". If you want to listen to a lot of Radiohead and see what they're about I'd go in the following order:Originally Posted by Heian
The Bends
OK Computer
Hail to the Thief
Kid A
Amnesiac
All nearly perfect cd's if you like to sit down and listen to music rather then just have it playing in the background. I'd just stay away from Pablo Honey, it was a pretty shitty cd. They were trying to be like Nirvana or something I think.
Going from Radiohead to Muse is just tough I guess... The stuff Muse is (or was) doing is just rehashes of The Bends and OK computer, except it's just an over-the-top cheap imitation.
Thanks man I'll have to check that out sometime soon.Originally Posted by Enkidu
I have to completely disagree here, it's anything but mainstream and softcore? When was Muse hardcore? It's all experimental electronica. If that's softcore... well, okay.Originally Posted by Kross
Radiohead by some considerable distance.
The real question here is Radiohead or Audioslave?
