Yeah, I figured it out after a bit, at least I think so.Originally Posted by Haelian
You get 3 points per level (at least at low level) to put into STR or INT. STR is all physical stats, INT is all magical stats.
For skills you have your melee and your magic. All these points are combined. First you train in a skill, these are the 3 kinds of melee (sword/shield, spear, bow) and 4 magic (fire, ice, lightning, healing). You can only advance in level of a skill as high as your characters level. At certain levels you'll start to see abilities pop up in the bottom section of each skill. These are your ws's/spells (FFXI is my only MMO so...) Ws's and spells both use mp to use, as you advance in level and skill level, you can rank up your ws's and spells so they use more mp and do more damage/heal more, new spells/ws's will also be unlocked. Currently at level 11 I can almost keep up with 1 melee and 1 magic skill if I only keep level ups and 1 skill/spell ranked up per. So there is a lot of specialization it seems.
They give you items that grant you bonus exp to start (much like empress bands) but actually I don't think they're that great, because they don't give you extra skill points (at least not that I know of) and so I'm lvling faster than I can keep my skills up. Currently I'm trying to stick to doing the quests that grant both exp and skill exp.
Edit: Boo to you Drinhkinn, I need some people to play with and go do something other than spam kill EP's like I do in FFXI.
