QFT. Gotta love Mezraq proccing all of like 10 times in a 3hour PT, and 75% of those procs were on Puks I'll never miss anyway. Oh yeah and the one time it procced on a NIN and a THF Mamool, I still missed a whole lot. DRGs are really that gimp.

I'm 75 DRG and THF and I'm not trying to be biased but I really hate it when people call DRG useless because of stupid reasons like this and let's face it the best thing Thief has is Treasure Hunter. I don't wanna go into a discussion how DRGs gimp or not we all know it hs it's problems, I'm expecting 3 pages of loldrg but I would like more info on Gungnir/Geirskogul off the OP.

Honestly, he hasn't been in my party, I filter out damage accordingly so I have no clue and he hasn't said anything about it in chat.

Hi there, I don't post a lot in the BG forums, but something happened last night, that I'd really like to open a discussion about in the BG forums for some opinions and to see if this has happened to anyone else lately.

First off, let me give you some back ground information about me. I'm a lv 75 drg/war. I've filled all 8 polearm skill merits and I'm on lv 4 crit hit. I'm very proud of my job, I've spent long hours crafting, farming, raiding to get the gil to buy the best equipment I can (which I'm still working on). I have the opinion that people don't understand the drg job and I want to do my best to leave the impression that this job is a good one, and should be an asset to any exp party. In the past I've out damaged drk/nin and war/nin in melee parties in the caed. mire and thickets zones (sorry no parser results to show, you'll have to take my word on it)

Even though I try my hardest, since I hit lv 75, I have had zero party invites, but that is ok, I perma'ed my way from 50 to 75 with a whm friend of mine, so I start my own parties.

on to the meat of the story:

So last night, in my LS two people ask for DDs for an exp party at roughly the same time. The 1st is a brd and I speak up DRG75/WAR37 invite to join party! to which no response comes. Then a few mins later a rdm in the LS is starting another party, and again I say "oh oh!!! invite me!, have Mezraq, will poke!" To which I find out that he won't invite me because I'm /war. Ok, do you need /thf? "No, /nin. I'm not going to heal a /war"

So I get into this long argument/debate about how rdm/whms in melee parties don't want to have to waste MP when a shadow can blink damage away. So at this point I'm flabbergasted, they want me to give up attack bonus, berzerk, warcry, double attack, and even provoke (which I do use since everyone seems to want to sub nin now adays and can't pull an add off the healer if the tank is pre-occupied). So They want me to give up all these things, basically gimp a job that has a reputation of being gimpy that I fight so hard to prove wrong so that I can have shadows that won't be needed since I'll be doing less damage.

Then people acted like they didn't understand why this bothers me. I know how to control my hate, use my jumps effectively, use defender if needed. If my whm friend and I can break chain 80 in the mire when we don't have convert, what is wrong with wanting to play drg/war now? It's like I was told I can't exp with these people because my job will now do too much damage... is there no pleasing people?

I may have missed something here since my highest dd is 38 and I think most dd are pansies who mostly brag about high damage on really weak mobs. I have yet to see the 2k rampage on nidhogg. lol

Think there's some old thread here with some exact stat showing bluberk amounting to 1% dmg increase over berk+1, but yeah I suppose you'll have to try and parse against traeh or zel <.<

I couldn't imagine a decently equipped WAR being outparsed by a very well equipped DRG, both /NIN. Since it sounds like you were /WAR, I still find it hard to believe unless you're "including the wynav too".

So at this point I'm flabbergasted, they want me to give up attack bonus, berzerk, warcry, double attack, and even provoke (which I do use since everyone seems to want to sub nin now adays and can't pull an add off the healer if the tank is pre-occupied).

This goes into the "Wynav too" part of the last statement. An average fly will do 3 or so cursed sphere's each battle, say at 200 points each. If you have the Wynav out then you have to heal it for ~600 damage every fly. RDM/WHM as main healer can't waste MP healing you and your pet in a burn situation. The fact that you pay Warcry, provoke or even draw hate with a WS means that the healer has to specifically heal you extra when you're /WAR.

Now I'm not saying DRG is a bad job, but trying to say "DRG/WAR can DD" and "Without /WAR I'll suck at DD" means that you won't get as many if any burn invites without /NIN, and you shouldn't be blaming anyone else because you don't have/want to /NIN.
