Talus is right, and it's more complicated than that. What you eat becomes extremely important.
What's the difference between refined sugar and the sugar in fruit? It's pretty huge, actually.
What you eat is by far the most important aspect of a good steady diet. How much you eat means absolutly nothing if you're not focusing on what it is you're eating first. It doesn't like long to figure out what a good diet is, we've known this for a very long time, but it does take a lot of work to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Work that many people these days confuse as something bad.
Actually processed sugar and the sugar in fruit are not a ton different.. the thing that is majorly important about the fruit is it provides fiber (90% of americans don't eat enough fiber in their daily diet) and essential vitamins/minerals
That would be a true statement, unless he meant Fructose and Sucrose, in which case they are different. Sucrose is made up of Fructose and Glucose. Because of this, Fructose is faster metabolized. The body cannot use disasscharides (hope that's correct name in english) so it has to break them down into monosaccharides.Originally Posted by rydiu
Ingesting Sucrose will give you a higher energy "boost" which will last for a longer time. But as such, will require your pancreas to produce more insulin. And it will raise your glucemyc index a lot.
Fructose will do the 3rd of that, and will last a much shorter time.
That has to be the right thing to eat, it might as well say "de-ass" in the name.disasscharides
This is the solution to fatassery.
Exactly what I meant. Great clarification. =)Originally Posted by Lasitha

Without exercise, no matter how good your diet is you're not going to have the metabolism to lose weight unless you're genetically inferior by evolutionary standards, in which case you probably won't have to worry about that until you're middle-aged anyways (especially women, since fat doesn't show as quickly as it does for men). Eating smaller meals at more frequent intervals helps maintain a good metabolism though, and obviously eating food that has more nutrients is good too.
Honestly, I don't think people's diets have changed much from 50 years ago except that now it's a lot more prevalent to ingest hunks of synthetically-manufactured lard as opposed to eating more balanced meals, but even that might be a stretch. The real difference is definitely that people exercise a lot less than they used to. 99% of fat/obese people are just lazy, and the other 1% are just unfortunate victims of heredity. Oh well, lazy bastards.

The fact that fast food is just that, fast. It's easy, cheap, and you can find it anywhere. 50 years ago fast food was nothing to where it was now. I blame fatassery on fast food.
i eat once every 2 days! works out well for me lol.
so how many times do you go to the gym a week?
how many hours?
