the sky is the limit
dear SE please reverse this change....
"Sneak Attack" will now only be successful when performed from directly behind an enemy.
and this one
Adjustments have been made to the "Killer" job traits and "Circle" abilities.
Previously, these abilities had a "Haste" or "Slow" effect. However, now when a monster is attacking a PC with the appropriate "Killer" job trait or a PC under the protection of a "Circle" ability, the creature is occasionally intimidated and unable to attack, similar to the "paralyzed" effect.
The message "(Monster) is intimidated by (Character's) presence" will appear in the log window when the effect takes place. "Killer" meal effects will also be treated in the same way as described above.
In relation to these changes, the "Circle" abilities will now last for one minute and will be available for use once every ten minutes.
and this one
The damage and accuracy of a player’s ranged attack are now calculated based on the distance of the player from the monster. This determination varies from weapon to weapon, as does the ideal distance for maximum damage. In addition, the higher the monster’s level is with regard to the player, the less damage will be dealt with a ranged attack.
Reversing the ranged attack nerf would be even worse than the nerf itself.
My 2 cents:
Going on what Genome brought up in an earlier thread about the japanese liking the concept of gambling, hence the idea of a free spawning HNM where it would be "free-for-all" claim. (However, dominated by botters now), I think SE has hesitated to change that concept of having something spawn out there in the "wild". Having instanced BC's (though a decent idea) with faf/nid essentially kills this element.
They could have Faf/Nid pop anywhere in the Aery, and make Bark Tarantulas pop in the pit as well, so you need to work "harder" than just "Afk-wait for claim". Also, Faf/Nid should have draw-in abilites.
Though this will not completely eliminate botting, this spawn randomnisation allows more people a chance at claim. Also, claiming right away might not be a good idea since Faf/Nid will draw-in and with your LS is spread out around the whole Aery, you most probably will be dead with all the adds.
It also makes the fight more challenging, having to deal with re-pops during the fight, justifying an LS having to work that much harder (hence feeling more accomplished slaying the dragon) for their dalms/curiass/adaberks. Most regular end-game LSes can kill faf with about 9peeps anyway with the right setup. Having the adds etc would almost require at least a full alliance for faf/nid.
The changes to making these fights instanced as suggested aren't a bad idea. But I think they would require a longer time to implement those (hello dec 2007!?) due to the complexity of it. Historically, SE really isn't known for making huge changes/revamps in one go to their current content. Rather, they like to implement minor/subtle changes as the game progresses.
They could have Faf/Nid pop anywhere in the Aery, and make Bark Tarantulas pop in the pit as well, so you need to work "harder" than just "Afk-wait for claim", causing everybody to huddle in one corner of the zone where it's "safe" before casting Sneak and Invis every window and Mr.Argus on top of Fafnir like it was Aspid.
How would fafhogg pop anywhere else in the aery?
Last time I check the whole zone was tunnels
And ya, that would only encourage more mr argus
bump in anticipation
ya rly. Isn't that interview happening today?
