Do these pinion/tail feathers look like she will grow into a black chocobo, or am I deep frying another sallow yellow bird?

It'd help if your chocobo was looking up, but it looks yellow to me. If it has black tips it definitely looks it in-game.

I got the poofy tail too, but I neglected mine for the better part of a month and left it on take a walk, so it had a bit deficient strength and didn't get the legs. I think you get the trait as long as you have average or above in a stat.

Does receptivity do anything for looks? >_>

average or better stats in each category as adolescense (sp) could yeild a "hq" attribute?

average+Stregth = Feet
average+ Endurnace= Tail
average+ Discernment= Beak
average+ Receptivity = Head feather

just a thought my bird is better than average disernment and average resceptivity. and Kerberoz has above average str and average before adulthood.

Yeah, that's probably correct. Someone in my LS (whose chocobo is a sibling of mine) had average str/end and got the legs and tail too.

One thing though... I believe the beak and head feathers are one .dat file, and don't exist separately. Can anyone confirm this? It might have been changed in the last patch.

I took HyperionStorm for a quick walk before I retired her and met the Douchebag Trio and now I know what to look for with Black feathers.

Yeah, I have the feet too, Impressive Strength. I haven't noticed the tail though.. better than Average Endurnace.

Even First-Class strength is slower than a rental.

The chocoguy says rentals are bred for max stats in strength and endurance. No chocobo you raise will ever be better than that, since you can't exceed max stats in strength and endurance.

It's also been tested by Kuno (First-Class strength black choco).

Someone in my linkshell has a yellow chocobo that ran faster than my rental chocobo. only saw him on it once tho, maybe it had to do with weather prefrance or something (we were in la theine heading to horalis peak)

Furthermore, this difference in appearance that was released after kuno raised that chocobo, are we sure it doesn't possibly contribute to stats?

I kept trying to raise endurance, so yeah I did the str/endurance training. I think the leg changes might effect speed but does anyone have max str with the legs to test? I should really get around to testing my guys speed again.

Well damn, that kinda kills my strongest angle. ><;
Even if Choco can currently match rental, that's somewhat disappointing since charges are 1k each. -_-
They should make it possible for Speed and Stamina to be raised to 150% of rental, lower the price of whistle charges to 100-400g, or both.
Having a cheaper sneak/invis that gives a 50-90(100?)% speed boost is an appreciable amenity, however considering the fact that they can’t be ridden in dungeons, can’t be ridden in stable-less areas, and, most of all, the time and energy that must be invested, I believe it should be at the very least A: Significantly Cheaper or B: Noticably better than the norm, or a super invis is all ti will be known for.
Maybe I’m being selfish, but I wanted to raise a choco to break the barriers set by those over-paid stable people.

Here’s to hoping Choco Racing is like steroids for choco stats. 3-4x normal walking speed without a hack ftw.


Incidentally, how long does it take to get to the next rank with carrying packages? :x
I hit Substandard on day 10 and a bit deficient on day 20, so I was hoping I could hit Average by day 25 (or at least before adult). :|
