Probably not. When it comes to stat growth or decrease, care plans will be the #1 factor, food and Camp Kweh being extremely secondary, but still reliable factors.
Given the combination of available care plans, it would seem to be fairly simple to raise a chocobo to be 1st Class in Strength, Discernment and Endurance, the three most important stats, while staying poor in Receptivity. But the thing is, stats also largely stop growing with any speed at around day 63, effectively forcing you to choose either a mainly physical build or a mainly mental build for your chocobo.
My current experiment with chocobo raising is to raise a physical chocobo, emphasis on STR, while still being able to teach it some abilities. In this case, I want the two physical abilities: Gallop and Canter. It's worked very well so far, so here it is:
- Breed two chocobos with decent physical stats using the Gourmet plan.
-
Watch over your egg. A lot. I mean, like, 30 times per day, not kidding.
- Upon hatching, immediately set care plans to Take a Walk. Always feed your bird before any activity as Food extends their Energy. Daily feeding is 3 Vomp carrots, activity is 3 short walks, and burn the rest of its energy by watching over it. If it becomes sick, sacrifice one carrot for a medicinal herb.
- Adolescent stage: Set care plan to Carry Packages constantly. Continue 3 Vomp Carrot feeding. Daily activity will be 2 medium walks, burn the remainder of its energy by Watching over it. Your chocobo may start becoming bored or spoiled. For boredom, sacrifice one walk for a race. For spoiled, scold it once
before feeding and other activity. If your affection ever takes a substantial hit (goes less than "Wants to be with you all the time), sacrifice it's last carrot for an Azouph Green or Chocolixir (and take it on more walks).
- Adult Chocobo: Largely the same as teenager. Substitute 2 medium walks for 2 long walks.
Basically, the goal is to get 1st Class STR and END by around Day 50. From there, you have a little under two weeks to switch your Care Plan to Dig for Treasure to get to "A bit deficent" Discernment, which allows you to learn Gallop and Canter. Be aware though, that Endurance will take a hit, and so will Affection, but Strength should be untouched as long as your chocobo doesn't eat any Strength-decreasing food.
