Is it possible to recap endurance after you spam Dig for Treasure to get discernment up to the required level?

Also, nobody ever answered my kamp kweh question ><. Should I be specifically looking for higher-leveled chocos to play with to make my stats go up each time?

My guess is no, since getting Disc to Average would take around 10-15 days, and there isnt a care plan that will take the lost END at the same rate as treasure digging rapes it.

Considering most chocobo hit STR/END first class at the ~40-45 days mark, and stats lock is at 63 or 65...it really doesn't leave much time to build Discernment, learn ability, and recover END.

I'd imagine you can still hit the above average - outstanding range on stat though, but I'll let you know in 3 weeks as to how my chocobo turns out...

As for kamp kweh, I'd say that you just need to do it with different chocobos, since mostly everyone that I do kweh with for 3+ time in a row stops giving stats.

In any case, I'm looking forward to chocobo circuit...hopefully the reward for having a good chocobo participate is somewhat decent, since it requires ~2 months worth of dedication for a good chocobo.

Well, you could always raise Discernment first, from the moment it hatches. Once it hits adult, learn your abilities, then start working on Endurance. That way, there won't be any Endurance to recover since you never lost any.

That would be a good idea if

1. Personality doesn't lock at day 19
2. You get canter as soon as your chocobo turns adult

But the problem is that personality does lock at 19, so setting it at mental personality would give it issues on the growth rate of physical care plans. And I've done 2 weeks of at least 1 long walk per day since my chocobo turned adult at day 29, yet I still haven't gotten the canter story from Brutus (2/3 meeting, will get it the next time I see his fatass)

Really, the best way to get a physical chocobo with ability is to get a chick with canter already learned. That way you can just set the wanted personality as a chick, then have it learn gallop at adolescent by having it do some mental training (possible in sandoria and bastok I think) and just carry packages for the rest of its stat growth spurts.

The legs and and plumage come from physical stats, the the beak from mental stats, so it ought to be possible to have physical and mental stats at the appropriate level by that stage in development without sacrificing one for the other.

Possible...maybe they're just half assing this whole chocobo raising deal, since it doesn't seem to be near completion, and really the whole "you gotta raise mental to learn physical based ability" is kinda fucking retarded when the care plan seem to be build on choosing to specialize on either physical and mental without possibility to cap both.

Also...note that the "Fine Plumage" seem to refer to the Endurance Tailfeather, while the Graceful might be one of the mental stat.

And from the mined data, it seem that multiple traits chocobo can only go as far as Strength, Discernment and Receptivity...

I didn't think stats stopped growing, just that they grew at a slower (maybe half?) rate? Coulda swore somewhere back in the zillion page thread somebody posted that he got a skillup on day 90 or something.

Well, it's just something I gotta see for myself, but from what my chocobo raising friends have told me, the whole stat just stop growing after a certain age.

All I know is I'm gonna be extremely pissed if they revamped the whole chocobo stat gain system and everyone and their mother can get an all First-class chocobo with minimal effort next update.

Canter is the one you really need your chicken to be born with. Gallop can be learned in the chick stage if you start in Sandy, but there's no way to learn Canter before adult, and that seems to make it really hard to get Endurance up before your chickens stats stop raising.

Still interested to see where Autoregen fits into the racing chocobo makeup... I guess we'll know soon...

Out of curiosity, anyone know what canter or gallop does?

I'm guessing canter increases the length of the ride while gallop increased the field speed of chocobo.

I've done some testing on chocobo speed, and it seem that first-class STR speed is equal to rental. However, a few friend of mine have informed me that they've seen someone's chocobo being faster than rental.

Would that be gallop in effect? Or is there a "maxed out" extra tier for first class that brought the chocobo at faster speed?

Then again...the particular owner of the said chocobo has been notoriously known as a speedhacker, so it might be just that >_>

I always thought First-Class basic speed was just below that of a rental chocobo, and would be equal to it with Gallop.

I could be wrong though since mine doesn't have Gallop and i got bored enough with her not learning it to retire her, but it really seems to me she runs a little slower than our good old city & crag chocobos.

I did testing by having a friend running a rental chocobo, then i would /follow him

It didn't seem like the gap between the chocobos are getting further, so I decided to do it in reverse, and the result was the same for both test.

The distance doesn't get farther when following or being followed, so I concluded that there is no difference in speed...or if there were, it was quite small.

I'll test it with gallop once my chocobo learned it. It still has poor Discernment, but it's starting to get better at treasure digging (getting the 400 gil reward today after 2 days of 200 gil reward) so, I'll get back to you on that.

I got Hantileon's story (gallop) on short walks

I saw zopago (burrow) on a regular walk today (i assume I need 2 more?).
Presumably the windy chick pulonono (bore) also appears on regular walks?

Which story you get on which walk depends on what city you're in. In your case, Pulonono will show up on long walks randomly interspersed with Brutus.

Kinda a necro, but my chocobo just learned gallop today.

Did some speed test with rental, same speed without any change, so it seem as far as field effect is concerned, gallop is worthless.

So yeah, guess that bastard was speedhacking on choco, I think anyone on sylph knows who I'm talking about, after all, that's how he lose his first account.

Now I got 8 days left to learn gallop and get END back to outstanding or keep it on impressive...

Both chocos are first-class str, both are now outstanding end, both are 1-2 days shy of average disc. The male has the gallop and canter stories ready to learn, the female is 1 pulonono visit short of having bore and burrow ready to learn. Then I'll swap back to physical plans.


Completely random question: are NPC visits perhaps dependent on time of day? IE, if you go out around 9am EST, are you more likely to see brutus, or 11am to see pulonono? My guess is that it's completely random, but I swear I got a lot more NPC visits a few weeks ago. I've gone 9 days now w/o seeing pulonono (who is a dirty taru whore, as far as I'm concerned). Add to that the fact that I only get 1 long walk a day, and it's looking like I may not be ready to learn my abilities when I hit lvl 3 disc.

The Average Discernment requirement for Canter is really a killer.
