If it's any consolation, the days are capped at 130 before it auto-retires...Originally Posted by Seraphise

ung I gotta get back on track and raise another chocobo
Anyone gunna answer my friggin question? -_-
btw, Pissed-off Chiyo-Chan.
Kickass.
here, I'll answer your question.
NO FREAKING CLUE.
Haven't seen the research, don't know if anyone has. Don't even know what they're referencing those numbers to. IMO its a crock, the only thing you should go off of is the chart SE provided. Relations are good, exact numbers are bad.
that answer your question?
'Unsubstantiated.'
The single stat care plans working off a percentage makes sense, the help text for them says something about getting more of a bonus the higher it is.
..but yea, no one can back it up, all I wanted to know.
Just wanted to bring it up again before my question was drowned out by a bunch of pointless wiki-bashing and shit most people already know. -_-
I had a disturbing conversation with someone I bought a chococard from.
It was advertised as a Blue, and it was, but when the baby turned out to be yellow at teen, I was a little put off.
For the record, I realize the shit is random, I was just really disappointed (named it after winter & everything ;-.
I was disturbed with the lack of color, but what was really bothering me was the fact that my END was far inferior to my STR.
STR hit substandard on day 10 while it took END another week to do the same.
Before it had reached teen, about a week before racing was added, I had talked to her a little bit and she told me to keep her informed of its development.
So a couple days after it turned teen, I contacted her, slightly miffed.
I told her about the lolwhitetips, the low END, and that I had been going slightly lighter on vomps and walking than usual in an attempt to save some money.
The choco was '..parent' when it hatched, so I didn't walk it as much, so I wouldn't have to feed it as much.
She went into a lecture about chocobo raising, thinking I was asking for directions or didn't know how to raise one properly.
What I was actually doing was accusing her of selling me shoddy merchandise, because there was about a 8 day stat discrepancy.
At first I assumed it could only be genetic, because even if the END was low, there was nothing wrong with the STR, so a few extra vomps a day wouldn't bridge that gap, it would only make the development of both equally faster.
Then the selling breeder dropped a bomb on me that screamed 'I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.'
"'Delivering Messages' raises END."
After this I kinda cut off the conversation, because it kinda made me put a few facts together.
Delivering Messages only raises STR.
There is no tier 3 plan for END.
Caring for your chocobo has been said to give token stat boosts (Stories>Disc.)
I had been taking very few walks in the chick stage.
Is it possible that taking a walk with your chocobo raises END?
When I raised my last chocobo, END was the higher stat, it hit First Class first.
I had walked it very often.
Is it possible that since taking a walk is the main tool for raising your affection with a chocobo, the devs decided not to add a tier 3 plan for END, since walking every day would do most of the work for you?
If it isn't genetic or some weird stat randomizer, that's the only explanation I can think of.
I'm in the process of getting my endurance back up, but it's not like I can do anything different than I was before.
Physical plans, physical food, etc.
Only thing I can do is walk it more and hope that I'm right about it.
depends on the stats of the parents the most, and also the personality of the chocobo. If your chocobo is ill-tempered, and comes with parents that have higher STR than END, then you'll get what you're seeing as far as I'm aware.
I expected the High STR, it's just the low END that puzzles me.
Most physical Chocobos are totally maxed on both anyway, I knew I maxed mine.
Ill-tempered may have something to do with it, I'm sure most chocobos turn out that way on a physical plan, so ill-tempered parents will create an ill-tempered child.
However, I'm damn sure that my last choco hit stage 3 in both stats a little earlier than this and there's still the stat gap between STR & END to consider.
What are people's typical chance to learn stories? I learned gallop on my 4th day of spamming (disc was lvl 3), now my disc is lvl 4, and I'm around 0/9999 on canter. Is this just extraordinarily bad luck?
On my previous chocobo, I capped STR and END and then dropped END to Impressive to get DIS to Average. Was able to teach Gallop on the first story, but Canter was just impossible at Average. I spammed 6 HP bars worth of Canter stories to no avail and gave up. Ended up teaching lolTreasureFinder on the first story the next day.
I've heard people say Canter needs at least Above Average DIS to be learned; some say you need Impressive DIS to have a good chance of learning it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the chocobo's stats are locked around the mid-60's (around when the NPC says the stats are stabilzed) so if you focused on physical stats, it'd be pretty hard to get DIS high enough to learn Canter. With the new chocobo racing additions, I hear you can buy stat upgrades with chocobucks, but I haven't been messing around with that too much so I don't know how that works. You can always raise a new chocobo focusing on mental stats, but then you get the uglyhead and lose the sharp talons and extra plumes.![]()
I'm really kinda bummed now. I stopped my mental plans when both my chocos hit avg disc. I could have easily gotten them to above, one of them possibly to impressive, but I thought you could learn all the stories at average. I was really hoping to put bore/burrow on my F, and canter/gallop on my M, then use them as breeder chocos.
How do repeated Hot & Cold games improve your chocobo's digging ability and by how much?
I think I noticed getting a couple extra digs before fatigue after digging up a few chests.
Anyone have any thoughts on how Chocobo stats translate into performance on the racetrack?
I think END may affect your top speed, but I have very little to base it on.
Burrow can be learned with only lv2 Discernment. And talons and/or plumes affect your choco's speed drastically on the field. My better than avg str and avg end black choco with plumes/feet smokes another black choco(it's parent) with first-class str and first-class end but no plumes/feet. So the feet/plumes alone are worth approximately 3 levels of str on the field.
Are there pics to show what "plumes" and "talons" look like? I've been going all-phys (at least until I swapped to mental at day 45).
I did learn canter at average disc after 32 tries, at least. 8/6/4/1 gallop/canter going into day 64. I'm fairly happy.
Did anybody ever figure out how many of hte 80-chocobuck increases are needed to increase stats each level?
Trust me, you'll notice talons and the big tailfeathers.
They only grow if you hit average in STR & END, respectively, before it hits adult.
