They don't get coloring till 2nd? stage of development when they are a bit bigger (according to altena viewer)

Under "NPC' on the "NPC list" at the verry bottom it has
"baby chocobo" then 5 different "young chocobo" that is the stage they start showing up different colors.

No luck for me yet, so I'm just standing by the NPC, checking with him every so often until it hatches while I do other stuff around home.

I asked around and still haven't heard of this occuring to anyone else but, my Chocobo made a new friend while we were on our first walk. Pulonono's Chocobo, Spring, approached mine and they just looked at eachother all cute and then wiggled their asses with some text saying they got along well. Then, I got that quest-completed sound effect with the message "Your chocobo has made a new friend!" Second walk yielded nothing but a reduction in energy, while all his stats remain "Poor."
