Can you do that? I thought you'd have to retire your chocobo to VCS first?

You can raise up to 3 at once I believe. One in each stable at the 3 starting nations.Originally Posted by jomiel

I don't let him listen to music, I set the schedule to "take walks" or "basic care" only. (did "sleep" 1 day.)
and yes, I take him out for 3 walks, then watch over him until he has no energy left. <.< once I used chocolixir to get his energy back up to go for 3 more walks. (btw, unless it has been posted already; you can't use a chocolixir the same day as you already used one. it won't have any effect. I think it's only based on if you do it on the same day at least..)
All my Care schedules are Walk Around Town except one Listen to Music a few days ago. I do all 3 walks a day, no chocolixir though
i was able to do 2 chocolixers in the same sitting. 3x walk with a watch after and followed it with a vomp carrot then a lixer, then i repeated the same exact process and gave it another lixer and repeated it all again.
A lot of people mentioned the chocobo's personality keeps changing back and forth, the same just happened to me, after doing music two days in a row instead of the usual alternating between music basic care and town I was doing before.
It went back to "not much of a personality" from the "patient, good for carrying goods".
Another thing I noticed is that after being "receptive and very perky" yesterday, and making him listen to music, it says now it has calmed down... no idea if I was supposed to give him something special but I bet when people will have figured out everything about them, day12 when they are "receptive to anything you give them" will turn out to be important.
Also, maybe the oscillating between personalities could be a sign that it is in between two possible growth paths, and even something like alternating between making him listen to music or take a walk is enough to make him go more in one direction or another and back... just a guess though for now. Did other people that had chocobos alternate between personality messages always do the same activity each day?
Day 15 : still a chick <_<
Mine regards me as a parent, but all the other factors still are and have always been neutral. I walk her every day and feed her carrots and carrot paste+greens.
One thing I noticed is that mine "Gulps down the Vomp carrot in a single bite", but just eats everything else. I thought it was a carrot thing, but maybe they have specific taste in foods.
Mine does the same thing with San d'Orian carrots. Guess he's got a sweet tooth...er...beak?Originally Posted by Aodh
Music does seem to make my Stardust perky too- I'm one of those people alternating between music and walks in town. When he's big enough, we'll go on longer walks and stuff.
One that that fucking pisses me off is that its impossible to change the "Current care plan". It finally sunk in on me, lol. I thought you could always set Plan 0 to whatever you wanted for the coming day, but that doesn't work. What's going to happen the next time you get a status report is LOCKED, and what's going to happen the day after that is Plan 0. That's actually really frustrating, because it means you always have to plan 2 days in advance. Example:
Current care plan: Rest (UNCHANGEABLE)
Plan 0: Take a walk (1 day)
Plan 1: Listen to music (1 day)
Plan 2: Rest (1 day)
Plan 3: Rest (1 day)
The next time you get an update, he will be sleeping. Your care plan will now look like:
Current care plan: Take a walk (UNCHANGEABLE)
Plan 0: Listen to music (1 day)
Plan 1: Rest (1 day)
Plan 2: Rest (1 day)
Plan 3: Basic care (7 days)
What's frustrating about this is that you don't always know what you want for him the next day until after you see what happened with the current plan. But by that time it's too late.
Anyway, I also had another theory on worms. The NPC says if you feed him a worm at the wrong time all your effort could come to naught. And then it hit me that around day 9 or 10 you get a message that says "Your chocobo is ready for anything you give it." Perhaps as a chick his digestive system wasn't strong enough to handle worms, but the trainer is now telling you he's ready for worms.
I dont think that's true. I got that message and then the next day it said it "calmed down" and regarded me as a parent again. The day after that I got the "holy crap it'll love whatever you give it message" yet again.Originally Posted by divisortheory
Mine did that for the first time a fed it Vomp carrots, but I think it might be connected to the "it will respond to anything you give it" message because I gave it the carrots after getting that message. Did you also get the message after getting that little cutscene?Originally Posted by Aodh

If it starts lighting candles and smelling of patchouli, I'm aborting it.

Mine hasn't had the "receptive to anything I give it" CS, nor has the personality changed, nor anything else. It went from "Seems to like having you around" to "Regards you as a parent" but nothing else. I walk 3x per day, and watch over until the bar fills up. I feed it till it's completely full and don't over-feed. Dunno, kinda disappointed nothing else is happening with all the effort I'm putting in >.<
Edit: I'm even growing my own food for it, I had never gardened before.
Hmmm... for some reason my choco hasn't gotten the option to take a walk around town yet, still just a short walk outside. Started raising like the day after it came out, and take it out for walks nearly every day.
I'm cheap and lazy so I feed her the NPC greens >.> Is there a specific trigger to get the town option?
It's a care schedule option. Just like listening to music, rest, or basic care.
From the main menu you can choose either "Set up a care schedule", or "Care for your chocobo.". The first one allows you to schedule "Take a walk around town" the next day, the second one allows you to immediately "Go for a walk (short)".
