Willing to bet it's the adolescent stage of development (which I don't believe anyone has hit yet). I know day 16 rolls over soon for the people who traded right away so I'm curious if there will be anything cool today.

Edit: oh, misread what Zhais said. Yeah, you schedule that with care plans. The longer walks to zones other than right outside the cities is what I was getting at (and thought you meant at first).

I'd say food preference is exactly the same across all chocobos, even the trainer and food description say that. Sandoria carrot is always "one gulp" for everyone, gysahl greens is alway "munches contently", and pastes are always "eats it".

Also from what the chocobo trainer says the worms are sorta of an extreme measure, when you messed up and need to fix things fast (e.g., you mistreated your chocobo, he hates you, so you feed him a cupid worm to fix things in a hurry). I don't think they are related to the 'receptive' message.
I did get that twice now too though (on day 15) so I guess it is less critical than I thought.

And yeah Zhais walking in town is a schedule option, not a caring for your chocobo option. Greens are an ok food btw. Tythera is referring to walking to konshtat, tahrongi etc probably.

Also I guess alternating between walking and listening to music might not be a good idea? They basically do exactly the opposite thing and should essentially cance each other out, and maybe be equivalent to or worse than basic care. I did alternate at the start just to try them out, but I think now I will stick to one mostly.

i wish there was more to do with my chocobo than spending 5 minutes a day (4 of which are spent trying to get the dialogue to load) where the only things i can do are feed it 2-3 items, walk it 2-3 times and watch over it twice. meh.

    Ah, ok. thanks a bunch!

    I haven't done much with the care schedules aside from scheduling listening to music ;;

You should do it just once for 1 day just to see the CS!

The first two times I fed my choco were Azouph greens, and it said something to the effect of 'swollowed in one gulp.' The third time, Im almost positive it just ate them. Gonna feed him the same greens tonight and see what happens.

Ive only fed him 5 times, if that matters.

i think it also depends on how hungry it is. I've had it eat some things in one gulp that after it munches on or forces itself to eat the next time.

When its starving i always get the one gulp message but i only feed it 2-3 select things.

Possibly, but it must be only a partial effect. My chocobo is always starving at the start of a new day, I tried changing order and it still only 'eats' vegetable paste even if it is the first food while he's starving.
Sandoria carrots he just gulps whether it is the 2nd or 3rd, and the same for gysahl greens.
Maybe other carrots and greens are in between two 'taste levels' and depending on how hungry it is or how new the food is it might switch from one to the other, but for the 3 foods I mentioned even changing feeding order results in the same messages for each food.

don't wanna sift through 40 pages so i'll just post on the assumption that nobody has mentioned it before...but...

has anyone else noticed that when their chocobo is "quite perky lately" when you do the "Care for your chocobo" stuff, it takes up more energy? noticed it when usually going for a walk took just over 1/4 of my chocos energy and when it was perky it took almost 1/3

I haven't noticed that, I am always able to do 3 walks a day + watching over several times. The watching over message does change when it's perky ("Your chocobo is in high spirits") but not really less energy for me.
I do remember in the first few days (day4-5) a walk would take near 50% of the energy though.

Was your chocobo ill the next day and then had to feed it Tokopekko Wildgrass? Like the day before it gets ill, and the day when it actually is ill, wouldn't it seem to take more energy(effort) for it to do anything?

Yes you said it was perky that day, but what happened the next day? *wrapped attention*

The first two times I fed BlazingSaddle carrots, they were munched on weakly. But ever since then, its gobbled them in one gulp. Few days later, I fed it a vegetable paste, and it was munched on weakly.

I think they get a taste for a certain food after a while, etc.

Yeah i'm leaning towards the taste for certain foods. I only feed mine 2 kinds of food, but when i first gave it to the bird it munched weakly, now its always one gulp. I dont feel like changing the variety either so it'll probably keep eating in one gulp.

Was it sick when it gave you the "munches weakly"? Mine was sick only 1 day, and that's the only time I ever got that message, on a gysahl green that all other times he eats with the normal munches contently message. It makes sense that while sick he would munch weakly.

He munches weakly when he's sick or really low on health (like you walked him x3 and watched him 3-5x) and you feed him.

Every day I take mine on 3 walks, then watch over him until he has about 2% energy left.

He, 100% of the time, always gulps down Azouph Greens in a single gulp since the first time I gave them to him where he ate them "contently."

At first, when feeding him Zhegam Carrots, he "weakly" ate them, then after about 3 of those, he "contently" ate them.

If you've ever played Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, I have a feeling there might be a similar food preference system as there is in that game. Where eating same foods over and over they drop down on a preference list, and eating disliked foods, they tend to rise up on preference. Possible, but at least I'm pretty sure there's at least an inherent food preference like the races in FF:CC.

He wasnt sick, but i may have overfed him. I do the same thing as mioko except i've tried chocolixer's before, he drank that in one gulp when he was hungry too.
