Chocobo Raising Now Available! (08/21/2006)

If you noticed in the introduction to "Compete Against Others", the 3 other choco guys you're competing against, One of them is named Bashraf.

Bashraf appears in two quest so far that I know of, one is for the Bibiki Seashell(a cameo role), the other is in chocobo raising(he's responsible for the mental attributes of their bird iirc). He does not have a position in either Al Zhabi or Whitegate that you can go visit him at. So to get the the Story of a Happy Chocobo, you probably have to beat their chocobo repeatedly in races, and you'd then receive it as a reward. Probably beat them 3 times is my guess. If so, we'll find out today when more people compete against them to win.

Edit for a question: Anyone with blue or black tip feathers. Did you feed your bird any sort of worms anytime during it's growth cycle or stuck to standard greens, carrots, wildgrass, paste?

I fed mine mostly the 60gil greens and it turned out black. No worms or potions or anything fancy.

anyone know how digging for treasure is unlocked? i am thinking maybe from taking long walks?

If you look at the chart for care plans, it's probably part of the set of care plans that get unlocked when they reach the next stage of development.

Kuno, thank you for clearing up that rumor. I can hear the parasite worm market crashing right now.

i planted an egg, set it on basic care, then went to burning man for a week and change, not logging into the game whatsoever. I'd say I didnt check it for atleast 12 days. When i came back, i got several cs in a row updating me on progress, including it hatching, being sick and needing a green, fully recovering from sickness, etc, until i could care for it as normal. seems pretty surly and unhappy, but its not dead and I literally didnt do ANYTHING. If it grows up where i can call it and ride it, even if it sucks in races, I'd consider this a success. Just a tip for all you busy peeps that want a rideable choco like me...

the three guys whose chocobo you race have been a reccuring joke in lots of ToAU quest/mission cutscenes as the typical peanut-gallery adventurers

4 phases: Egg, baby, adolescent and adult, atleast I think.

Klvino, it could still all be randomish.

Adult isn't the end. From what it looks you can still train it as an adult and it will eventually retire. However you can register to ride it as soon as it becomes an adult or retire it right then also.

Hmm guess I read it wrong then. I assumed once it hit adult, that that was the end and that you only had up to the adult stage to influence how it behaved.

Fed it veggie paste and gysahl/sharug/azouph greens. Zegham carrots when it got perky. No worms or potions.

As of today:

Strength: Substandard
Endurance: Substandard
Other stuff: Poor

Endurance was her first Substandard. Fed it Veggie Paste till day 19, then found out it liked Azouph Greens. I feed it V.Paste, A.Greens, and sometimes a tokopeko thing just in case it does what it says (keep it from getting sick). It's a black choco.

Have a theory that Veggie Paste could raise Endurance...maybe

Raced it twice, won both and got another story in a short CS afterwards. This was my third win in four attempts, so its most likely 3 wins = story:

Yeah, mine got the Story of a Happy Chocobo too from 3 wins, 3/3 though.
Another thing, I had mine set to Carry packages, Showed an Animation of my Chocobo running from Clothcraft Guild to the Tent NPC.
Got hurt too. Only noticable diffrence was he started off with 5% hp gone. Nothing took more stamina than usual.

Oh, 200g for Package Carrying.

General Request: If your choco in it's teen years has the feathers change colour, please post! I'm wondering if you change exercise/food at this point if there's still a way to change the colours or if once you hit Day 19, you're locked in and if it's not the colour you want then restart.

Since apparently where the egg came from doesn't seem to be a definite factor of feather color... is there any text in the .dats that mentions what breed of chocobo you have? (Destrier/Courser/Rounsey/Palfrey/Jennet)

I originally assumed that Destrier and Jennet would come from these ISNMs considering they would obviously be the most sought-after.

For the record: my ISNM-60 Making a Mockery = "little" warm egg + azouph/zhegam/grysal foods = white feather tips

Mine has been completely healthy and often perky, sensitive personality, but for the first time now he's bored and wanted to race, won 1/2, but still "irritated" when I hang out with him, but I assume that will last until the next 24hr mark.

Do I remember correctly reading that you could only teach your chocobo 2 abilities? Or can you teach it all 5?

If you are limited, we should be sure to read it only stories that correspond to the abilities we want to teach it.
