I still can't get back to my chocobo but I can also confirm you can get all stories from different walks (happy from racing, curious from long+meeting jeuno NPC, and from bastok the windy one from long, the sandy from middle).
After that, you can only learn 2 of them, and I noticed that i consumed all 4 out of 5 stories very easily, and the 5th story I just can never learn it no matter how many times I read it, so I am really thinking that each (or some) chocobos just has 1 ability they basically can't read, maybe my faint egg just can't seem to be able to consume the bore story...

So far with level 6-7 mental I haven't seen any difference in chocobo digging (It just seems to go by my A10 digging level and available pool or dug out zone...) However the Burrow ability makes a big difference in the types of extra items I get, although it generally causes to fill up sooner to 100 max items and not get as much money from digging each day (it could be useful for skillup).

I can say that burrow and rental vs mentally strong raised chocobo does not increase pool of items before digging fatigue, it seems taken from the same pool basically (if a zone is dug out, it's dug out with both, and if you get to 100 items with either one, you will get no more items until the next RL day with either chocobo).

e.g. learning Burrow might lock you out from learning Bore?

First i would like to say that my yellow chocobo was from a quest egg from brutus.
I have been raising it's discernment up for awhile now and and reached Above Average. Spamming Bore and Burrow the past few days hasn't been working in learning them, so i tried Auto-regen and Gallop stories.

I am kinda thinking now that some chocobo can only learn certain abilities, and i think it depends on the type of choco...
I remember the day my chocobo was able to be riden on, i got the message"Just look at those legs!"
I think this meant it was predisposed to strength right?
It would be kinda useful if some of you could try to remember what kinda message you got on that first adult stage day, where you were able to ride.

Do you remember what message you got Kuno? Maybe black chocobo wouldn't be the best in strength but another category.

Anyone who has learned Bore/Burrow remember what message they got?color?

personality could also play a role in it, however mine has no personality, making it easy to care for

I don't think it's the order, because I tried to learn bore forever, spamming it day after day, and it just wouldn't learn it, then I learned canter easily and burrow easily, then i consumed autoregen easily and gallop just as easily, and then I still couldn't learn bore at all, the only one I haven't been able to use up. So basically I couldn't learn it before any other, and I couldn't learn it after as well.

About the message when it grows up, I tried to ask in this thread before what different messages people got, but now I think maybe it gave everyone the same message "it's all grown up, just look at those sturdy legs", while the ones about the strong beak or plumage is not implemented yet, because in all the few pictures I saw and people that took the time to notice it always seems to be just that one message about legs.

I tried, but it's like that for 2-3weeks now. His stats arent going up anymore, his energy is always low and he is starting to hate me

From what I can tell there's just nothing you can do. Mine comes out of lovesick for a day or 2 now and then, but it goes back pretty fast.

And yeah I'm doing everything I can to increase my stats, but after getting rank 2 then 3 str within a couple days of each other, it took over 2 full weeks to get rank 4 str. And it's making my chocobo completely hate me and be lonely along with his lovesickness most of the time.

It's getting pretty frustrating, especially seeing stuff like Kuno's where he seems to be doing pretty much the same stuff and he's maxed str already...

Our chocobo is probably just not the kind to like str stuff. >_> I really hope next patch is going to make them level much faster, because I'm in the same situation. Been on level 4 for 2 weeks now
