Dilemna: Chocobo hates me
Problem: Two weeks ago, I missed 3 consecutive days of checking on my choco, while set for Digging for Treasure. The lack of checking/feeding, along with the affection-sucking care plan, wrecked it's affection for me. "OrZ doesn't seem to care about you at all."
So for the past 2 weeks since then I've been on a strict regiment of checking each day, feeding it tons of Sharug Greens (helps affection?), spamming highest walks I can take it on, and doing an alternation of Basic Care/Rest plans. Every day I can nudge it up to "can endure your company" at best, then the next day it's back down to "doesn't care at all."
I'm not going to burn 100k+ on Cupid Worms each time I miss a few days. What the hell can I do to fix my bird? I used to always be running a "thinks of you as a parent" affection and now I've got a bird cowering in the corner shivering every day. Even if it doesn't run away, I'm stuck with a bird I can never raise stats on anymore because each day I'm struggling just to keep it alive. Two weeks of this is asinine.
I alternate Basic Care (minimal affection loss) with Rest because I'm paranoid multiple days in a row will be bad, since I can't feed it? Is it ok to Rest consecutive days?
Should I spam it different food than Sharug Greens? Should I shoot it in the head and start over? Or better yet, not bother with Choco raising period...
I left my chocobo unattended for 4 days while digging for treasure and its affection only went down to likes you a lot. Maybe something else like your chocobo's personality makes it drain more. Still, I don't think basic care and rest are the solution, he could be maxed in stats by now maybe if you kept digging and you could have retired, and at that point affection wouldn't matter. Maybe also try spamming watch over the chocobo or changing food to ones he really likes.Originally Posted by Sheeny

Plant your own cupid worm if you are not gonna dish out 100k.... And greens do raise affectiogn BUT! it has to be the green the chocobo GOBBLES UP!, if is not... than the affection raise is not enough to get you out of the slum... You should do take care of your chocobo a whole day instead of the long walk.. use up all the energy looking over it, get a chocolixer and cupid worm and ... well if you care for your choco sometimes 100k is what it takes... i dont see any other way to fix your issue.
Sum it up:
1) Find the green your chocobo gobbles up.
2) One Cupid worm when is starving.. (just one.. with luck you hit the jackpot and get regards you as parent from one silly worm)
3) Watch over your chocobo > Taking long walk if you spam it from all taht energy bar.
4) Chocolixer and Spam watching over your chocobo.
5) Basic Care and Rest... i would actually do the Exhibit to the public... yes lowers affection more than Basic Care.. but basic care is a waste of chocoday
Regarding Rest:
You can wake up your chocobo from a coma either 3 ways:
1) Change the Rest plan (not 100% that will wake up)
2) Feed it an item. PPl think is the Chocotonic, pretty easy to synth if yoru alchemy is lv15 and you got something over lv 60 to farm the r/e item.
3) Scold (Consideribly lowers affection doubt you want that)
Tip: If you dont want to dish out money for times your chocobo needs a certain feed, time to grow them yourself. GL~ (yes to lazy to spell check all that)
I've got the money to blow on Cupid Worms/Chocolixir, but I find it asinine that missing 3 days royally screws me over to the point that 2 weeks of emergency care can't remedy it. And I don't want my emergency plan to be "spend 200k" any time I miss a few days. It's not worth the money (or time to grow myself) to me personally.
As for resting, I'm not worried about waking it up from a coma, I'm worried that excessive resting, say 3 days, is more harm than good since it can't be fed? Not sure which is lesser of two evils - Basic Care (affection loss) + food (affection gain), or non-stop resting (no affection loss, no food affection gain + starving for days)?
So does Clerity salad remove lovesickness? Cause this whole lovesick thing is really starting to piss me off, I have barley enough energy to take my bird for a long walk and compete, and my STR refuses to leave 'Average" when with every single upgrade I've made before "better than average" is's been 1 day for STR's lvl to follow END's... It's been like 8 days now
yeah celerity salad resets any status yoru chocobo is on. Even if it has Restless + Love sick + Broken Leg , it will cure all of them in one day. No idea if is random but.. have used it 3 times.. 100% effect.
As for taking care of your choco, the reason you drop so fast, because I think 2 things. YOu didnt take care muc of it growing up so your Parent buffer is low.
and that leads to the 2nd, i think theres a loves you as a parent buffer. Just cuz you are at that level doesnt mean you max it, i think it stacks, you jsut dont get a new comment thats all, so i could be confusing. What i do is give its favorite green, a favoirte carrot x2. Other stuff is up to you if you want the stories or teach your chocobo stories. right now im just doign races and looking over it.
This is true. Because I didn't take care of my brother's chocobo for like 15 days, it took like 2-3 days of spamming watching over and feeding it only its contently munched to get parent status back, and I constantly lose it each day because his "affection buffer" for parent status is very low. I'd assume what this means is that someone with a low parent buffer and someone with a high parent buffer will all have the same chance for plan success, but the person with the low buffer will have to work harder to try and keep parent status. I would imagine your chocobo's attributes work the same way.Originally Posted by toonces
Yay first class strength!
Not bad for a yellow bird whose egg I bought from NPC. :D
So Green and Red chocobos aren't the result of breeding and can come from random eggs bought from NPCs? Can anyone with a Red/Green chocobo please post the information about their chocobo? I have a Blue Chocobo who will reach First Class Strength soon and I want to breed with a smart chocobo . (If I can find one..)
im not breedign mine hehe... I got both abilities i need now to get first class str :O
can new colors come from lets say a black and blue choco breed?
I hope not... that would be really stupid if black+black doesn't = black.Originally Posted by Dracy
Although we don't know how genetic donimance works when you breed non-yellow chocobos yet...
Maybe if you breed a red and green chocobo you get Santa Choco (*'-')
Maybe is you breed green and yellow you'll get a Zenithobo!
Well, taking Genome's suggestion, this is what I found... Using Somepage's digging lists for reference, I organized the lists as such:
- Nothing
Very Common
Common
Uncommon
Rare
Very Rare
Items not on the list for this zone
I noted next to each item how many times I got it. If there's no number next to it, I didn't get it.

Glad you were able to test this. From your test it looks like bore might also add new items (the ones bolded), although one of the items the yellow ginseng is new so they might have added it to any digging done in that area, who knows...Originally Posted by Khamsin
From just those few items it seems Bore also gives much inferior items compared to the normal ones so far.. (arrowwood log is 18 gil)
I think I already got to 100 items for the day but tomorrow I will see if I can get ginseng and arrowwood logs in those areas with both my burrow chocobo and a rental one, just to see if there is any overlap etc.
If bore does add more types of items like burrow, I wonder if there's a specific and different pattern to it, for burrow from my tests so far it's mostly seeds, coins, feathers, crystals. Btw I am assuming your own digging skill is very low? (just based on the items you dug up)

I should also probably edit my post to include, under Chocobo Stats, that my chocobo knows only Bore.
