I vote we all go to that thread and call this guy an idiot -.-;Originally Posted by BRP

Uh... maybe in the question and answer session between Bercus and Sundi? So, aside from the poor translation of Sundi's replys and the editorializing of said replys, where was the actual interview here?
Weren't you a mod too at one point?Originally Posted by BRP
I had my own section at one point which I had complete moderator control over, but once the admin who I am good friends with went MIA, the moderators, low-level(Neighborhoodtaru) or infamous fucking failures at the endgame(TheGrandMa), all around idiots save a few exceptions(Icemage, Lei, moderators who I have not come in contact with), seemed to go on an all out vendetta. I was spending most of my posts as sattire to the complete retardism that they represented. Anyway, I stop posting for 2 weeks and during that time they indirectly ban me by causing my account to never load on that site, allowing them to ban me without a reason or anything like that(not to be confused with previous warnings, that had already been attoned). Anyway, I made an alternate account to figure out why the site wouldn't load, but now I roam around the "SE suggestion" forum.Originally Posted by Desklamp
I agree that people wont ever stop complaining, Human nature makes it so people want the quickest and most simple way to accomplish anything. The reason the current system needs some ajdustment is because items are always gonna be sought after, however. People want the chance to expierence these fights, AND have a small chance to get items. Right now only a small portion of the 75s control these fights. I'd have to say like 30% of the endgame shells on alex have a shot at even camping these things.
For instance, this system does not appeal to people who work jobs with long hours, or have schooling that takes priority. Not everyone can dedicate 3 solid hours to JUST sitting there for every 30minutes and try to claim and then walk away with nothing not even a lousey fight. At least in my shell almost everyone has a full time job or is a full time student, and it just doesnt allow us to dedicate the kind of time thats needed to do these on a constant basis.
People goto these camps without a guarenteed chance to even fight the mob and thats where most of the anger lies. For instance, if you gave people, anyone and everyone who wants to try, a chance to fight, and lower the drop rate to compensate for the estimated amounts of fights that could possibly happen every 3 days/5days whatever. People would not complain because now they have a shot to not only fight them but now have a small chance to obtain the items.
We tend to look at monopolization by one Linkshell or 3 or whatever it is that gain most of the claims on these mobs, However every linkshell contributes because as competition grows, those who are more expierenced will succeed on both claiming and successful kills. I will almost guarentee if you give people a shot to fight these mobs, the complaints will drop drastically, like 75% of the people who complain will stop, while 25% will be the ones who say its not fair that others have theirs before this system is implimented, or are luckier than others etc.
Biggest thing we have learned from this interview is that the people the players are going to talk to aren't the best communication-wise. If I recall, this is the first time an actual diagram has been made and shown to anyone on SE's team illustrating the playerbase's points.
Basically, we need to use more visuals in future interviews. Just questions are not going to cut it.
Good interview, even though there's a big "wtf" at the whole race change and kingdom hearts questions.
FFS
if SE makes a faf/behe/aspi BCNM, DONT FUCK WITH THE DROP RATES.
Ridill allready drops something like three times every two months (once per 20 days, 5%)...no ones gonna do those BCNM's for a 1% chance at ridill. That's 100 BCNM fights per Ridill...
That's my biggest frustration, too. SquareEnix has high production values, but too much of the content is essentially meaningless (lacking worthwhile substance). To be blunt, it's like an ornate gold ring in the nose of a pig... Yes, there are worthwhile things to do, but so much of the basic game design is fundamentally flawed, it doesn't really matter anyway. This is the sad truth about the game.Originally Posted by Fhqwghads

Every decision in life revolves around the equation of time, risk and reward, all of which are essentially commodities, inherently meaning we place varying degrees of value in each aspect. They often cross over into one another, but the fundamental equation remains the same. It is the balancing of these factors for each possible choice which defines the final decision we make.
This equation is no different when applied to a game environment; it's the fundamental equation for content design. The time/risk/reward involved must be balanced to maintain player interest and stability, with progressive alternatives available. When the individual components are out of synch, problems arise. We're all aware of the two main problems; poor itemization progression and excessive RMT influence.
While the PS2 does limit certain aspects of the game, adding new content is NOT one of those limitations, because they add new stuff every expansion and update. Therefore, the PS2 is not a scapegoat nor an excuse.
There is no reason for these problems to still persist to the degree they currently do.
Enough on that though; huge props to Bercus for putting the time and effort into the interview (and overcoming all those language barriers!), even though the answers you got were a mixed bag.
Next interview done by someone else is going to have chart of beaucedine and how hard it is to cross itOriginally Posted by Jeryhn
Anyway, about "people never bitching"... the problem is the people who are bitching at the moment are the true fans. You have people who do Fellowship, enjoy quests just for cutscenes, and all that jazz who are complaining. The exp grind alienates people who can't adapt to FFXI playing style, however this is okay because a lot of people can adapt. As kings stands now, it is just bad for everyone, no matter how hardcore you are, or how laid back, or how much you don't give a shit about the story, or how open you are to content. With bots and MPK, and all-round isolating most of the game's population, kings just flat out suck. Plus, with a BCNM format, you can do more. Who doesn't want to see Fafnir fly in, like the Japanese trailer?
EDIT: Also, I'd like to say now, along with the joke. I hope this interview didn't open Pandora's box(even if I'm pandora in this situation). I think the image was only effective because its the first time a picture was used. I will say this though, images are a lot easier to understand with a language barrier.

You Can't leave the drop rates the same and make Fafnir instanced and then see 10 drop in 1 day if say 100 linkshells go in. Thats why the drop rate would have to be fixed and thats where some problems with making the fights instanced would be coming from.
and whats to say the clearance to enter this BCNM will be easy ??
Noone said it has to be however, you now have to account for people who can spend time to gain access and actually fight now. For instance the 30% of people who control fafnir now or own these items are concentrated into 2-3 linkshells. Now you'd have to account for the fact that it will no longer be concentrated like that and expanded to 50% or whatever amount of people who would be going in daily of the endgame community, and the fact that its no longer popping once a day, but quite possibly 20-30 times a day.
