Apocalypse Nigh Earring choice

I wear AF1 gloves, Phantom Earring, and Magnetic in Dynamis. I don't have many merits for BLM yet, and zenith paws makes me die more since I'm the main caller for BLM statues. I do better damage with that combo than I do with my Moldy atm :/ (again, this is just me, and I know people have much different opinions)

I think if i'd be doing HNM again it'd be a lot different, but just for instanced situations on BLM it's pretty nice to stack all the cMP stuff.

but then again, I'm a career SMN who has BLM to 75 because it was her first job, and I do have fun with it in Dynamis.

Aurik: do you have the BLM af2 boots? I'm a weird BLM in that I don't use anything but BLM af2 boots (don't really like Rostrums as much, but I do have a pair) and that I don't have RDM as a sub (whm for ds, erase, etc), I'm meriting enfeebling magic before Elemental ... despite all this I really do like the pairing of af2 + earring.

No af2 boots and my dynamis shell is about 60% black mage, so I'm somewhere like 30th in line for them haha.

I'll be using Yigit Crackows for a long long time.

I don't think thats a bad thing. I wear Yigits most of the time anyways. I guess it goes back to the whole thinking of how benefitial the +5 conserve MP is really. Its a bit of a reach, but if you try to measure out how much more damage you will do with Yigits over the Sabots and compare it with the extra 1-2% mp you'll save from +5 conserve mp, you end up saving only 40-60 mp while doing a good 200 points of damage less.

The times I wear my sabots are in situations where I am stuck doing alot more healing than normal (8-10 person Fafnirs with no healers, etc). The conserve mp and -enmity in those cases is obviously better.

This whole discussion of conserve mp is something interesting to me, so I plan on doing more testing, I like trying to be informed on my decisions. Just the basic testing up till now just tells me you are better off with Yigit anyways.

The thing about doing extra damage per-nuke as a blm is that it is quite often irrelevant, and sometimes it is even harmful if you are pushing the hate line too hard.

I don't get the Demon Helm +1 joke in this situation. It's not like the guy is an epeen whore just becauese his LS sets up skillchains on more than just the stuff you mentioned. It's not like the Magnetic Earring has -enmity on it either, and when you're in a LS that does incorporate SCs into more fights, you don't often have MP problems, since you rest between SCs, etc. Usually the balance for BLM on HNM ends up being damage vs. hate, not damage vs. MP, at least in my experience. If BLM is the only job you care about getting the earring for, I'd say static all the way. Now to the guy who has BLM and PLD a page back, I agree it was stupid to get static over etherial, but what can you do?

You forgot Kirrrrrriiiiiiiin!!!!! Tornado II that biotch with AF2 Gloves and Static Earring will leave your friends breathless!

That's the main point of the choice: BLM Main = Static, WHM SMN RDM = Magnetic.

AF2 gloves and Static earring together would prolly add close to 500 extra MB damage; and that is better than +5 Conserve MP for a BLM.

Not sure what the Demon Helm comment had to do with anything. I'm actually the only BLM I know who swears by Mahatma Hat for most things. Demon Helm +1 used for soloing/manaburning onry.

lol.. i got mine when we had 5 drop in one run and everyone else there had them. (ironically the only 2 pieces of blm af2 i have are the 2 i wanted, head and feet).

Why don't u want the hands? +10 dark magic skill is hot in dynamis, and the bonus damage on MB is pretty nice too (better than Zenith +1)

No, on MBs static > Novio (or about equal). The bonus is 5% flat, MAB is affected by how much MAB, and even then is (apparently) more like +.9%.
