If you took the time to read and study other religions, it's one of the most interesting things you could read about. There are so many "smudges" on catholicsms' record, as well as budists (sp?), paganism - they all have skeletons in their closet.

Except Wicca, of course. We can do no wrong.

rofl this guy I knew Paxson was a Wiccan... yeah no wrong lololol keep telling yourself that.

All religions are headed by humans, which have all the problems and inperfections that an actual god or deity wouldn't have. Lets not be stupid and think the popes were anything but humans.. some were decent people, and others just were downright evil.

I agree, and that is because human beings themselves are capable of the most beautiful emotion and commited love -- and the capability of devestating horror. Wasn't it devil's advocate the movie that said "it's god own sick joke, his own cosmic gag reel." I don't necessarily agree with that, but it's interesting nonetheless to see what humans do with a little free will.

I jest about wicca. It's the ultimate love of nature lol. If anyone else follows or studies wicca, hopefully you saw the humor in that.

I can't lump all Christians into the same boat, there are alot that live a hypocritical self-righteous path though. I have personally known some great people that are Christians also. Same could be said of any faith. Depends on the individual.

My father has become closer to God over the past 10 years. He was not much an example of any kind of christian prior to his "born again" faith. Although he is classified as a "Christian" due to the church he goes to an similar beliefs -- He says he has no religion, but rather a relationship with God. Take that for what it's worth, but it seems to help him be a better person in my eyes (not saying I'm one who walks the golden path), it's just an different look on the take of things in the religious realm

That's where the problem lies, Religion. Just for a moment forget the word Religion and focus your attention on God. What we have today is a bunch of seperate religions (speaking mainly on Christianity). These religions are not what God's intentions are for his people to follow. And thats where the problems lies, how Christ's church went from how he designed it to be, to a wordly religion full of corruptoin, false teachings from what comes from God's word.

And might i make a statement, If it wasn't for God, his Word, and his Love, i would not be standing here today. So whether u all argue if there is a Higher Being, if religion is made by man, if God was made by Man. I know in my heart there is a God and he is alive today. I wake up every morning feeling like i won the lottery b/c i have air in my lungs and the Love of God in my heart =) Nothing can take that away.

Norelco, is it possible then that you'd consider yourself to be agnostic?

I may be wrong in my exact definition, but I believe agnostics believe in higher powers, some specifically jesus, but do not believe in either the organization of a formal church or religious ritual.

They believe, just don't care basically.

I wouldn't be so hasty about that. Hell is supposed to be an eternity of unimaginable torture and horror the likes of which cannot be described. In short take everything bad you can imagine happening to you, multiply it by 100. Take all that stuff and have it happen to you every second of every day for an eternity. Really Hell doesn't sound so appealing to me. I would just rather not exist to be honest, but it is hard for the human ego to fathom that it will cease to exist at some time. That is why people cling to some hope that there is an afterlife. They can't understand an existence without them in it.

What is pain by nerves hurting. I rather to be able to think than not to think, even if I have to feel pain. Plus there is a chance I'll just be a monkey in my next life and that if any of these religions are true, its the ones who don't punish the non-zealous.

Sadly you are limiting the torture to just physical torture and do not see the possibility of neverending psychological torture along with the fact that Satan could easily loop the music and TV/Movies that you despise the most. I said it would be worse than you can possibly fathom or imagine, it wouldn't be Hell if it were otherwise.

If you want to bet on being a monkey then go right ahead, maybe you will get lucky and not come back as a maggot or some other less desireable creature. Oh yeah punishing the non-zealous that made me lol. Where does it say you have to be a legalistic zealot to enter the afterlife? Nowhere if you actually fucking read it. Nowhere does it even say you have to be remotely perfect, don't believe what you hear from self-righteous types (they will be punished for judging their fellow man). If you do not believe then thats fine, but don't make such lame excuses so you can find a religion that suits to your lifestyle.

Religions are so outdated, that they can not keep up with how things work nowadays without being completely being different than they used to be. If you can change something such as how to get into heaven so easily then how could it be true. Every guy jerks off and most people have sex before marrage. You can't but help to think that religion is a man-made creation with a bunch of different flavors that change on a whim. I don't believe any in of them enough to 'worship them', however I think its okay people do and they are not wrong for doing that. Ceasing to exist is worst than hell, I don't care how bad it is, unless the hell is ceasing to exist. At least you can get to regret going to hell.

I doubt you have any time to think to regret being in Hell, being busy with the unspeakable horrors and torture that destroys and rebuilds your mind, body and soul at the same time for an eternity to only destroy it again in the most horrible way. Ceasing to exist would suck too and really the more likely result after us humans die.

We just don't want to admit we are worm food. Desperately hanging onto a belief we have something inside of us that will transcend this mortal plane of existence. We are foolish to think our life will carry on in some respect in an afterlife whether it be as another person, animal or plant or in some otherwordly plane of existence. Just more human's masturbation over their own self importance. We totally rock and no fucking way we stop after we die mang. We gots da soul to keep us goin on even after we be dyin see! Might want to hedge your bets by playing on both sides or something lol.

organized religion is the root of all evil, that pretty much sums it up.
