I've helped 9-10 LS members get this drop, seems like drop rates are @40-50% if you have at least 1 THF in each PT, a bit lower if you only have 1 THF for multiple parties, and pretty abysmal if you don't have any THFs at all.

We don't bother with THF kill, however, the way we set-up an ideal group kinda ensures the THF does end up getting the kill. The biggest pain farming these things is building up hate since killing the NM resets hate for the person who pops (usually the person that needs it) and if you do something like Gration between belt runs, that resets hate as well. I'm not 100% sure, but I think killing Stegotaur while farming codex may also reduce hate.

Our best results are with the following set-up:
    NIN/NIN/THF/THF/RDM/BRD

The patch that introduced Swift Belt nerfed Dancing Chains to the point its a non-issue, so a WHM is no longer needed when killing Fomor. THFs can SATA+VB at will and kill the NMs very quickly. Some of the NMs have nasty 2 hours, so having 2 NINs bouncing hate makes it quick, safe and easy. All melee have Utsusemi so nasty TP moves aren't a huge MP sink.

If you have a close-knit group of friends in the LS, you can pretty much guarantee yourself a belt in 1 run with this set-up. Spend a few hours farming as a group for codex. Have the people who have the belt or don't need the belt hold the extras. Then head to Sacrarium and kill fomor/farm subligar while building hate. Even if your codex doesn't drop, you still have a few extra chances with you which saves you a trip back. More often than not, farming/gearing and running out to Sacrarium is what makes farming these belts such a pain in the ass.

    Details prz ;o

Are 2 familiar'ed Blubber Eyes enough to kill it, or do you need to drag it back to the start area and chuck dc/em bats + gazers at it?
2 familiar'ed Blubber Eyes are enough to kill the hume. You'll probably need both of them above 80 percent hp though. Bring pet food, etc. The first time we did it though, by the time we charmed both eyes they were kinda low on health so we ran to the start and juggled the dc-em pets there to kill it after the eyes died. Balor was at about 20 or so when he came back to the start. (We tried to kill Elel once juggling the EM-DC pets, hilarity ensued)

But yeah, 2 familiar'ed Blubbers can kill the hume without a problem.

I'm not sure on the other fomor but the hume, we tried the elvaan fomor once and we lost miserably. Double/Triple attacks ftl.

Also, when we did bring a thief we would do the whole "THF last hit" thing and it would make no difference.

Why not just find a couple full-health Blubber Eyes and charm them, instead? Or at least charm them without damaging them.

One of my friends has gone 0/8 so far. He pretty much gave hope and bought himself a Speed Belt.

The run I got mine, we went 6/7.

Since then, drop rates have been less then 50%.

Not sure what we did correct the first time, but we have not been able to replicate it.

The problem is charming the second one on the first try. Both bsts spam charm on the first one til it charms, then sic the charmed one on the second one while the other bst tries to charm the second one. If you can charm the second one on one of the first few tries all is fine, but we're talking level 50 so there's no charm+ gear to help you, aside from a charm+1 axe.

Sometimes you can charm it easily, sometimes it can take 10+ tries to charm the second one. And you kinda need the one charmed blubber eye to help hold hate while you're charming, unless you want the IT eye hitting you and casting -ga spells on you. But like I said, bring some pet food and all should be well. Balor dies fast to two eyes, EES isnt too dangerous.

Edit: My BST is exactly 50, charming them may not be a problem to a level 75 BST maybe? I know subjobbed BST charm reflects your main BST level, not sure how it works in capped areas. Then again the BST I duo with is 75 and sometimes he can take a while to charm one too, I derno.

Capped BST works as if you were the same level, so 50 or 75, should be the same charm rate. I used to merit for in the capped zones for fun when they came out and saw another bst xping there, didn't notice anythign special. +charm gear really shouldnt help the initial charm anyways, just load up on chr and prey you get it in a reasonable amount of time. I personally would see if you could drag a bard to just sleep it while you attempt charms. Good info though, thanks alot.

    I hate swift belt.

I've gone on like 7? 8? runs trying to get this thing.. the one time one dropped on *my* codex and *my* hate, we had randomed for order (you know, to avoid having to fight taru and whatnot) and someone else got it.

Then they said they were tired and the run ended before their hate built up.

    Bitter bitter.
