What you're saying here is that nobody should waste their time with relic. In that world currency is useless, and the only two options are to toss it, or trade it to the Goblin NPC, with trading it to the Goblin NPC obviously being the smarter of those 2 choices.

Nope you can sell it if you are smart. A sucker is born everyday, the smart person takes advantages of those suckers by selling them currency. If you really are compelled to do a relic, then fund private raids or keep what you get from just winning it in Dynamis. The price of currency is too high imo to justify purchasing it. Trading it to the Goblin NPC or tossing it is more retarded and that goes without even saying. Sell the shit if you want to make gil and use it for something else, like help out a random noob. Buy a just starting NIN a Utsu:Ni scroll, a BLM some elemental staves, etc. Well instead of buying a epeen item that you will quit not long after getting.

Ever think of the dmg/gil ratio of items you can buy or camp and compare them to relic? Relic is overpriced big time. It is true if you have the means, then go ahead. Nope lol, just sell the currency to suckers who upgrade relic weapons or AF2+1. Like I said a sucker is born every minute (cliche but its true sadly). Last December, I calculated that barring catastrophe I was on pace to max out my gil (yes, 1 billion gil) by October or November of this year. This was before the huge gil bannings which totally froze the market for a solid 3 months, which qualifies as a catastrophe . Regardless, I've still accumulated and spent over 500m since that time: close to 400m on relic, and 100m on levelling clothcraft.

I already leveled 4 crafts to 100, including throwing away 100m for the very pointless last 1.0 in clothcrafting, and my 5th craft is 78+2. I already have pretty much everything I can get for my main job outside of a few Rare/Ex items (which I suppose I could buy off of the RMT, but I choose not to). My support of my linkshell has gotten me and my friends hundreds of AF2 armors and cleared many of us for access to Dynamis-Tavnazia, a place that only a fraction of 1% of the players on this game will ever have the opportunity to visit.

Tell me, what should I do with my gil instead of fund relic?

So lets say I make $25 an hour, that purchases about 1M with of gil. I only farm about 100k an hour. Since time is time, I should just go buy that gil (and screwing over my fellow player, while supporting unethical gilsellers)?

A better use of your time and money is to stop posting, stop playing and go do some volunteer or social work to better humanity. Since none of us seem to be doing that while we post or play FFXI then I think we can agree that FFXI and any MMO is a waste of time. For some people getting relic is fun and the accomplishment of doing something in an ineffecient manner is more fun.
