Last December, I calculated that barring catastrophe I was on pace to max out my gil (yes, 1 billion gil) by October or November of this year. This was before the huge gil bannings which totally froze the market for a solid 3 months, which qualifies as a catastrophe . Regardless, I've still accumulated and spent over 500m since that time: close to 400m on relic, and 100m on levelling clothcraft.

I already leveled 4 crafts to 100, including throwing away 100m for the very pointless last 1.0 in clothcrafting, and my 5th craft is 78+2. I already have pretty much everything I can get for my main job outside of a few Rare/Ex items (which I suppose I could buy off of the RMT, but I choose not to). My support of my linkshell has gotten me and my friends hundreds of AF2 armors and cleared many of us for access to Dynamis-Tavnazia, a place that only a fraction of 1% of the players on this game will ever have the opportunity to visit.

Tell me, what should I do with my gil instead of fund relic?

I think many upgraders find themselves in the same situation. There's very few items that can be bought with gil that can be considered "game breaking". Kraken Club might be one of them, but everything else people covet is only marginally better than the next best thing. The rest of the items people obsess over (Dring, Ridill, Shadow Items, Abj. Body pieces, etc.) are rare/ex and simply can't be bought with gil. Once you've bought all that other "uber" shit and realize its simply not worth it, upgrading a relic starts looking better and better.

Eternus sounds like he's content with mediocrity. Someone could give him a blueprint on how to make gil and chances are he'd fuck it up. Its not 500m gil all at once, its 500m over X # of months to finish. With a steady source of gil, patience, luck and determination completing a relic really isn't that difficult. As he says, Time is money, he just needs to come to the realization that some people have more time or make better use of their time than he does.

It's actually kinda funny cause I'm not in that situation. My TP set is near-complete (Fire Bomblet, Cerb+1, Love Torque and Toreadors ring finish it off) but my ws set is nothing close to done. Doing attestation run in 2 hours and might get myself to stage 4. Hoping not to put myself in too much debt so I can get myself some better gear upgrades to increase my Mercy's as I go, but yeah, I'm not near-completion except some pretty rare/expensive gear I just went for the upgrade before I got that stuff >.>;

And most likely I won't be as bad as Nynja's NQ amemet

Lets see I spent maybe 1/10th of the time combined in all the previous FF games I played compared to FFXI. I would say I got more enjoyment in less time out of those games. Can't compare a non-MMO to a MMO. Of course MMOs waste a hell of alot of time. Some time sinks though are way worse than others. 3 Kings and Relic are the worst, but at the least 3 Kings have Ridill and Defending Ring lmao.

I play FFXI because I enjoy playing with my friends, killing shit like Tiamat or whatever else we can do at the time. Assault and Limbus are damn cool as well. They are all wastes of time in some way or another, but they are new compared to doing Dynamis for the billionth time.

Nynja I don't camp kings that much anymore, and its not for any gear I am lotting (I do it to help my friends). That sig is outdated as hell lmao. Maybe I should change it. Still only 75 BRD, just did some other shit that isn't really that important.

Wouldn't you be happier if Mandau had Treasure Hunter +2 or Trick Attack enmity enhanced instead of the poison lol. That shit should be the top DD dagger and make THFs Knife obsolete at the same time for how much it takes to upgrade. The actual relic weapons need some kind of buff period to further distance themselves from their competitors. Staff and Mace seem to be a damn shame... borederline criminal if you ask me on SE's part.

Especially when a couple of you do the same thing. Wait til he gets really good WS gear (though sadly I think he has Heca). Well since AGI is supposedly the modifier that kind of gear might help him if he can borrow some just for testing before he buys (or have a BRD etude his ass). Trust me I would like to see this thing work out well, but I have doubts big time. DRG needs something aside from the decent buff they got not too long ago.

Instead of singling out DRG for relic wastefulness you can look at the big picture and see them all as wastes of time and currency. Maybe to different degrees haha.
