I'm pretty certain that just about no one here believes any of their items or even any of the items in the game literally mean "the world" to them. I don't really understand your motive for your points at all anymore or where you're coming from now. OK, your views were attacked and you defended yourself and attacked the views of others as well, which is fine and dandy to an extent, but then you just kept going with it way past the point. (to the point where you're just mostly insulting people)

You're not a speaker at Alcoholics Anonymous, the majority of the people on this board aren't asking for and don't need "advice" that in the end are nothing more than opinions of how you define living life, all of which based around false assumptions. The false assumptions being how you appear to think that just about everyone here is a failure somehow, because of their time spent either playing FF or posting on BG.

Most people here are living perfectly fine lives outside of this hobby and are content or more than happy with them, myself included, and on top of that I'm sure at least 95% of the people here (or at least I hope) are smart enough to know how to make choices in their lives. In either case, I'm positive that 95% people don't want to hear how they should live their lives from a stranger over the internet, as you probably wouldn't as well.

I don't even understand why you really seem to care what other people do with their free time.


Anyway... Someone go stalk deeds and somehow turn this into an informative thread, almost fifty pages and just about nothing. It's worse than the first spree of AV threads.

Deeds is a casual player, I don't think he really cares about what gear he uses and when. You certainly won't be seeing any numbers or tests from him, he probably hasn't even read this thread. It probably was a waste giving a relic to a casual player who doesn't seem to care enough about this game to put any real effort into it, but I guess he deserved it, or something.

8 pages... Obviously excluding pictures, to my memory none of my posts are anywhere near that long of just text, and I have all of them documented in word (I backup just about everything after losing 3 HDs).

In either case, I'm not sure what level of education you're currently at/went through, but 8 pages really isn't that much (especially on a topic you're interested in). The last two months of my Spring Semester I had to write at least two papers a week that were anywhere from 5-25 pages long, and a few friends of mine at different colleges had it even worse than I did apparently. Writing a 1-3 page LJ post is nothing.

It really doesn't take much time or effort to sit down and type out an LJ post with some pretty pictures once every 1-5 months, for the most part I'm just lazy and too busy with other things. Again, as you can see from reading, I don't even update very often so time spent on LJ entries is rather irrelevant. You might have a point if I did a huge entry like the others there every day or maybe weekly, but I'm far from that..

In the end I still fail to see your point about anything meaning 'the world' to me, my life doesn't revolve around all FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF, which again was the point I was making. And, if I enjoy writing LJ entrees about my experiences in FF and writing guides/strategies/other information that's helpful for others as much as playing the game, then what's the difference? Either way I'm using free time to enjoy a hobby.

On top of all of that, it's not like I'm doing it all just to amuse myself... It gets quite a lot of attention.

And no, Sylphet is not my female e-girlfriend. First, I'm against online dating. Second, I have no reason to tell you anything about my personal life, but I can tell you that knowing someone on FF doesn't mean they live 500-5000 miles away. Some people do in fact play FF with their RL wives/girlfriends/boyfriends/husbands/significant others/college friends/high school friends, etcetcetc... And I'm leaving it at that.

In reading books you'll find that many of the best authors write very passionately about topics that they enjoy/can relate to/experienced. It's one of those things that really make it more than just words on a page. While I'm far from the writing level of one of those authors (Russta is very good at this though IMO), I try to keep the reading level above elementry school.

But I guess you wouldn't know this.

You can be happy for something without having to dedicate your whole life to it. The reason we dont see Rkenshin's RL accomplishments here is because this is a FF forum. The reason we dont see them on his LJ is because it's an FF LJ.

Go read my LJ, it's mostly about dynamis. Does dynamis mean the world to me? Hell no. Do I love doing dynamis? Hell yes. Is dynamis real? No, do I feel real emotions when doing it though? Yes. Everyone does, it's human nature.
