    SMN is better simply because of the nature of the beast.

    You only have 18 slots, and you neeeeeed magey support to keep the elementals under control, and no matter how good your group you need several good tanks and they do take support to handle (quite a bit typically).

    Adding melee to the mix would be pretty rough, especially at the end when he loves to spam aoe terror...would be alot to support in stonega's.

    Melee on a NM which spams Invincible? >.>;;; Get a couple for skillchain/manabursts but not as a source of DD, leave that to the BLMs. This is the 1 Wyrm where SMN are among the least useful.

    Never landed silence on him so gave up trying and assumed it can't be done. Paralyze is pretty effective though.

    I also got about a 50-70% silence rate on him, obviously it's insanely helpful to the fight if you can land it. Didn't get harder for me throughout the fight either.

    I noticed all skill > all MND on Ouryu, no idea why.

    how is the Elemental Magic resistance with Ouryu? I have been told mixed results with the Elemental magic and enfeebling resist too... like if the blm's spam Aero mob will resist Wind based enfeebs

    In my shell we only use a few blms to control adds and for a few nukes. Majority of our damage comes off SMNs. We win in about 30 mins as well, give or take a few, with no problems really unless he goes terror and breakga happy

    Silence is much harder to land on Ouryu in my experience than Paralyze.
    I mostly attribute Paralyze being easier to land because of the BRD using Ice Threnody.

    From a BLM point of view I would go into that fight with as much +elemental skill as possible. It's also why Blizzard is arguably better than Aero on Ouryu, even given Ouryu's natural affinity towards wind spells by being earth based. Aquilos gives an extra 10 elemental skill.

    You want to break the resistance cap. It won't cost you damage over INT/MAB gear because with MAB gear you'll get resisted more often.

    Now to test it myself and see how it does...

    Also most BLMs have Ice Potency merits, few have Wind Potency. Plus not every BLM has an Auster staff, but every BLM should at least have an Aquilos.

    Right now, I'm loling ridiculously hard at the idea of kiting Ouryu.

    Yes, Terrorga, Breakga, Stonega, Slowga, everyone. Fucking awesome.

    If you read the original post, you would have seen it was a strat i saw, and a strat i was deeply questioning for worth (and thus asking for some advice).

    But thankyou for your rather useless post.

    Note the other people's posts, their thoughts, comments, strat suggestions and links. Helpful, insightful, everything your post lacks. But im sure you were just jacking off at trying to feel superior and didnt see you were just looking like a jackass.     Anyone who suggests you should kite a mob with that much pain in the ass abilities with numerous adds and shit that can happen in a small arena shouldn't even fight the mob.

    My linkshell offers to buy any and all Cloud Evokers for 4 million apiece, and we cry when Ouryu tears apart yet another NQ LS on the server.

    I agree with you on that though. The orb drops blow from the ENM i have done and any one that is waisted is a shame. Ive done the other wyrms with some previous LSs but my current one has not done any wyrms but wishes to do Ouryu. My first thought was fight it like any other wyrm, but without a bit of experience, they can get a bit painful and i wanted to look outside and see if anyone had a more solid strat to ease this LS into the fight (so we dont waist an orb).

    The kiting one came up in a few searches i did and i beleive was a very early strat when the BC just came out. Nevertheless i wanted to see what you guys thought.

    We have plenty of Blms to manaburn it, but i dont want to leave all our melees on the sidelines, as they get to miss alot of fights nowadays.

    Might have standard tank setup.
    2 rdms for adds.
    4 melees building tp on worms and rotating in for SC.
    2-3 smns.
    4-5 blms.

    Keep Paralyzed, silence if can, have smns on support and DD.

    Not sure if we should try and sleep it when it lands, so we can rebuff and prepare to wake with SC and MB. Or just SC occasionally and save ES sleep for when shit hits the fan. Any suggestions?
