We bring 1 NIN and 1 SAM. They TP on Ziryu.
Skillchain + Magicburst each time Ouryu lands.

BLMs who come with RDM subjobs are to be the butt of all jokes for the night.

Save ES Sleep for Terrorga. Do not bring summoners who are going to use Assault with Garuda (Garuda recovers from Terror and Petrify faster than the summoner... and wakes up Ouryu more often than not).

my favorite role in the ouryu fight is on brd/bst... nice and active. Otherwise manaburn makes this fight {too weak}.

If you read the original post, you would have seen it was a strat i saw, and a strat i was deeply questioning for worth (and thus asking for some advice).

But thankyou for your rather useless post.

Note the other people's posts, their thoughts, comments, strat suggestions and links. Helpful, insightful, everything your post lacks. But im sure you were just jacking off at trying to feel superior and didnt see you were just looking like a jackass. Anyone who suggests you should kite a mob with that much pain in the ass abilities with numerous adds and shit that can happen in a small arena shouldn't even fight the mob.

Corsair absolutely owns for the BLM parties if you straight manaburn also. Our setup we use to break 30 minutes after the update was just:

    PLD/WAR
    PLD/WAR
    WHM/SMN
    WHM/SMN
    BRD/WHM
    RDM/BLM

    BLMx4
    COR/WHM
    RDM/BLM

    BLMx4
    COR/WHM
    RDM/BLM

Corsairs doing RDM & BLM rolls while it's in the air and we're doing damage, and switching to SMN & WHM rolls when it's on the ground is very strong, and the BRD we use lands Ice Threnody incredibly consistently as well. Typically I control all the adds myself and keep para on Ouryu before he lands and we clear out elementals as they aggro by having RDM pull them next to Ouryu and hitting them and him with -ga, we don't bother holding them for 10 minutes.

And we all just stand on feet except for the RDM, who are on standby for sleeping after a terror. Just need to keep stoneskin up always and it's not really a MP drain at all getting hit by blast/wing, and it just gives us the peace of mind of knowing that a BLM isn't going to pull hate and flail it since we do bring him down at a pretty fast pace.

Our linkshell also pays money for evokers whenever we can get people to sell them; 3m per evoker. So far out of 10+ Bahamut kills we've gotten a total of 4 cashmere cloths (3 cloth, 3 thread) of which one broke, 3 masks, and 1 staff, along with tons of random other assorted kuwnu, molybendum, wyrm horns, and the other shitty bahamut items and dragon staffs.

Ah gotcha. He's one of those 1337 players in a 1337 linkshell.

I'll stop deviating from the topic now, just thought I'd point out how pathetic said player is for making such a rediculous remark.

Glad to see that Corsair is being used wisely in your manaburn setup. They can really parties of different makeup shine in different ways. What was the additional damage markup you saw on the Warlock's roll?

very very low resists with warlock's roll for bahamut2.

most nukes were completely unresisted, and we were taking off huge chunks extremely quickly. didn't even notice the so-called "nerf".

Sounds like the prefered tank is PLD for this by most peoples accounts. Out of curiousity though, has anyone tried NIN/DRK for it?

I can think of a few reasons why we always take plds over nin, and why pld is better in general here.

pld can cure themselves. if you replace pld with something that can't cure itself, thats losing 7mp/tick x2, so 14MP every 3 seconds that goes into healing.

pld generally hold hate better. whms can pull hate on this fight relatively easily.

there are a lot of -GAs. when a worm or an ele wakes up, -ga might land sometimes if the rdm isn't watching.

with the manaburn strat, the only time you should be taking dmg is in midair, where shadows doesnt matter(so pld being able to heal themselves helps again).

pld is far more likely to survive after a bad breakga(cover entire alliance) over nin.

Nin/Drk is also a bit slower in terms of hate build opposed to Pld/War, where it can go in huge spikes. If you're manaburning, you want those large spikes in case shit hits the fan on some crazy BLM. Especially since you're sleeping him when he lands, so Paladins won't be getting hit much to lose said hate.

Hmm then what about NIN/BRD? A job with supposively more formidable hate generation than that of a PLD/WAR, NIN/DRK or NIN/WAR. I guess what it boils down to is more so a question of do you need a tank in there that can take hits and be slapped around or is your tank in there purely for the sake of holding hate.

Well, you don't HAVE to Manaburn Ouryu, so the hate spike thing may not even matter if you're going with a Melee + MB set up.

It really is more of having a tank that can take hits. He hits pretty fast. PLDs should have no problem holding hate on this guy.

    Re: Ouryu Cometh Question.

    Bump

I was wondering if people have done this fight with something else besides PLD tanking (i.e. RDM/NIN or a WHM/NIN) or do other tanks not keep hate well enough during the fight? Also does PLD/NIN work for this BC when ouryu is on the ground to reduce as much damage as possible or it isn't useful because Ouryu can't be slowed? Also what strat seems to work the best for people?

    Thxs in advanced :D

Oh. My. Gooooooood, necrobumping a topic for a question that is very easily answered by searching.

Anyway, anything that can hold hate and has decent magic defense stuff can tank Ouryu. It's gonna be asleep on the ground anyway, so just make sure you have enough survivability to take a couple of hits if someone is really slow at sleeping.

If you don't sleep it on the ground then use something with heavy defensive stats (i.e., PLD/WAR or NIN with an asston of -% gear). It's hard to rely 100% on shadows because he can't be slowed or elegied and spams things that clear shadows, plus Slow.

    Hello more than 1 year.

Use common sense. Is there anything that would make this PLD only? No. Ok then.

There are strategies posted on this thread and other threads alike...

    Peoples need sum brains.
