My vote goes for Singing.

Elegy is the easiest shit to land, I never understood why people go apeshit over Wind skill+ gear.

String is a close second because Threnody is a bitch to land on HNMs and for Lullaby in Dynamis-Xarcabard.

PS. for party buffs, I've done my own personal testing on this crap and CHR, doesn't help, Singing skill doesn't help, elemental staves don't help... nothing helps the #s you get from minuet/etc except "whateversong +1~2" instruments (aside from using an instrument vs just singing)

This post is like, really wrong >_> Gonna get flamed cos it's my first post but Singing does affect party buffs and only party buffs, it has no effect on debuffs.

String as a skill is inherently flawed for debuffs; Mary's Horn will always, always land Lullaby easier than a Nursemaid's because Wind is for some reason superior to String as far as sticking debuffs goes. The same goes for Flute +1 vs Sorrowful Harp on Threnody. I know it sounds hard to believe and I have no idea why the game was designed this way but tests have been done and it's true. The only time you should use String on a debuff is if you are confident you can land it and you need that extra point of potency/duration from the instrument, or for a larger radius on Horde.

Merits for BRD suck plain and simple. I did -2 seconds into lullaby recast, 4 minuet, 4 madrigal I think. I did do singing and wind, but I will have to erase those if I ever want to mess with BLM or RDM. -crit and +crit were nice (spell interruption isn't bad for /whm) and I maxed MP. You could merit dagger skill if you are going to level THF in the future. I will probably merit the new enmity songs next.

String is important if you are sleeping in dynamis. The radius is a bit larger than wind and with capped string + whatever string gear, I very rarely get resisted. I dont even bother bringing a harp to xp parties though. 0 String skill is just lazy, you could have maxed it just macroing it into finale.

Firefox has themes? Umm I'm using whatever the default is.

Crashes with both subSilver and Boyz forum theme.

Can't view in IE, although IE isn't crashing, just stuck at 100% and says "Opening page blahblah" in the bottom. I notice a bunch of Java VMs in the taskbar, and the more I try to open the page, the more I get. Somebody posted a Java applet or something?

I did 4 Wind 2 Singing 2 String...but that's because I put my merits into string about a year ago when I still thought string was any good. I'm also too lazy to delete my string merits earn the merits to put them extras into somethin else.

I personally like wind skill the most so I tend to try to load up on that and toss on some singing skill+ too. I try to start off around +35~ CHR. The rest I go for MP and switch it out for CHR or -enmity when I'm low. I don't get resisted too often with my setup and I don't really pull hate. Plus I have a decent size MP pool.

As for my other merits...I did 6 MP, a few lullaby recast (waiting on some Sheikh gauges to finish that area off), 3 into enmity- song, 1 into enmity song, and that's it. I've been a 75 BRD for a pretty long time so I try to avoid meriting whenever possible. The only time I exp is when my buffer gets real low.
