Yar, I figured it was because it looks like a non HNMls equiped PLD in AF and auction house crap with nothing else of note. (Probably does the job ok, but swords like that usually only the domain of AF2, keonig, shadow item equipped PLDs of legend.)

I've seen some pretty ridiculously equipped PLD/NINs in my time, even some PLD/WARs. No haste gear on PLD/NIN = lol win

To be fair to him, he came back to the game not too long ago (like a month?) and hasn't had a chance to get the optimal pld/nin gear. He's still one of our best tanks though IMO

Our Second DL First mantle went to a rdm75 and this one to a PLD 70 .

EDIT: The only Dead person on this DL run was the RDM who got the Mantle first .

That's not a PLD/NIN, that's a PLD/WAR with the wrong sub. Even a wal-mart PLD could pull off a better gearset for /NIN than that.

At least he has a decent set for voking and eating hits in the face.

He just recently came back to FFXI and joined Sd since his old LS Wargods broke up. That LS never used PLD/NIN, so it isn't surprising he isn't geared for /NIN tanking.

He'll get the Homam, AF2 etc sooner than later. He still does an amazing job and is one of my favorite PLDs in Sd to tank with. That's what really matters. We'll pimp him out soon enough.

Well, assuming he had enough enmity to keep the mob attacking him, enmity gears offer no benefit once you're at that point. So from there I suppose he could buff shield skill instead of HP. Cassie -> Buckler, Gigant -> Boxers, Parade -> Shield Torque (possibly macroed anyways) . Some of his gear choices are different than what I would make, but don't seem as bad as people are making it out to be..

Well, assuming he had enough enmity to keep the mob attacking him, enmity gears offer no benefit once you're at that point.

+18 isn't that point where it has no noticeable effect on your actions. Alternatively, even including the possibility that "ok I have enough hate", it's entirely possible to switch in cheap and affordable haste over some spots, your flash timer's not hitting 22 seconds in that setup. But what would I know, I'm not in your LS, right?

Obviously he had enough enmity to win the fight. Assuming he was holding solid enough hate with the amount of enmity he had to win the fight, I don't see the point in using more gear slots for enmity, when excess offers no benefit.

I mean you have to understand, I'm not saying "his gear isnt rare/ex or uber enough to warrant it". In reality it's a very solid PLD/WAR build. There's just more to /NIN than just switching your sub though. I mean my PLD/WAR setup is equally as sad, which is why I don't do it (unless I'm kiting >_>)
