Turban v. RDM Hat

Both Warlock's Chapeau, and Duelist's Tabard take 10% off of your casting bar, and 5% off of your /recast. And just to get it out of the way, Fast Cast1 is 10% Fast Cast, II is 5%, III is 5%, Loq Earring is 3%.

Full Fast Cast build on RDM is 43% Fast Cast with ~21% off of your /recast timers. Very very nice for Refresh/Haste/PhalanxII Cycles.

Only "advantage" with the turban over the AF hat is it makes your melee swings faster. So if you're in a situation where you want to get tp faster then go with the turban (I use it in that walls assault). But for everything else AF hat is better imo, (not including beret/af2).

Or do what I do and have a macro that swaps in AF hat for utsu recast, stoneskin, etc. and then back to turban after 2 seconds, 4 seconds, 8 seconds (depending on the spell).

I actually have a question. Now I am aware of the whole cure clogs blessed feet macro switch thing. If you have the warlocks chapeu on and while casting switch to the turban would that make a difference like the cure clogs? Like is the fast cast activated at the start of the cast?

The fast cast (casting time reduction) is checked when you begin casting. The recast reduction portion of it is checked when the spell casts.

for refresh and haste, there is no difference in recast between turban and AF hat. on utsu: ni, there is a 1 second longer recast while wearing turban than while wearing AF hat (38 and 37 seconds respectively).

using the af hat is a no brainer, but there's some hard numbers for you.

Also back on topic, Turban in xp? Melee in XP? Seems a little out there honestly, for solo, I'd use Turban over AF, even though I've never noticed HP+30 making a huge differnce :3

Even in solo, I wouldn't use the Turban, not even to macro. If you're fighting anything hard, you're going to be casting constantly. Pretty much every 3 swings by the mob just for utsi, plus all the constant buffs and debuffs. I feel like I'd be lucky to shave 10 seconds off a 20 minute fight at the cost of macro swapping every other swing.

unless you have duelist chapeau, no reason in the world not to use warlock's....but you can keep a haste+refresh cycle on 1 party np with duelist hat + dalma on....

Even if you have chapeau there's no reason to not use Warlock's for haste/refresh. The less time you take casting and recasting, the more mp you can get back from your chapeau.

I refresh with a AF1/AF2 switch macro. Used turban, recast was ~same, but AF1 Fast Cast really beats it.
Now i use turban only when converting/meleeing EP/DC stuff on RDM/NIN, when all buffs are on to kill the mob faster. AF1 wins when you're meleeing something higher lv. I would suggest not switching it at all in these fights, even if you got AF2. You shouldnt be meleeing something if 1 more mp/tic and -15 enfee is hurting you anyway (Except dagger en-kill).

i used to swap turban (when i first got it and still carried it around) for my convert macro. now i just settle for crimson mask, because 10hp/mp really doesn't matter much
