Pretty sure the grape vine is growing on the roof above his room, not the ceiling inside it.
In my personal experience, .22s work rather well. Shine a spotlight on them to blind them and while they're sitting there staring at you going wtf pop them in the head.

Edit: Guys, there's this bear in my closet all the time and I can't get my clothes because of him. Any suggestions on what to do?

COONS IN A BEDROOM!!!!!!
Somehow, I don't think Sam would like that movie.Originally Posted by rydiu

i wouldnt be in the least bit surprised if someone was in the situation where they had grapes growing in their room and racoons running around. why? because people do weird shit, if you havent been able to see this from browsing the internet than i dunno what to tell ya haha.
even if it is rediculous to take what he wrote literally, to me its just as silly to have grapes growing on your roof.. dont you usually have a structure in your backyard which allows the vines to cling and grow around it? just seems weird to have that on the roof.
if youre really having problems with the coons climbing the house to the roof then youll need to build something on the over hangs of the roof to prevent them from climbing up top. kinda the way if you have a bird feeder and put a large smooth metal base below the food portion to prevent squirells from getting to it.
the more you kill chances are more will come, if you dont want to do all that work than put in the backyard your scraps on a feeder. chances are the racoons will go for the easier food so long as there is enough. thats really all i can think of atm
If they are on your roof itd be difficult to trap them, sure its possible, but a more permanant solution would be to remove the food source they are going after. I reside in Alabama, and have trapped many a raccoon(never to eat). I recommend a double door box trap w/ large guage wire(trapped raccoons are mean bitches that can and will rip through a small guage trap). Use a bait that is highly fragrant to attract them, Honey and bread is a good choice, sardines are good too if the honey doesnt work. place traps either near the grapevine or around the area where they gain access to the roof. One might be trapped overnight, or it could take a few days. Once trapped you can call animal control or terminate the animal, releasing it could pose a danger to you.
From someone who's lived in the country almost my whole life, I concur.Originally Posted by Totien

If nothing else works, I agree. I'd call the city first and find out if you catch them in cages, if the city will get rid of them. Shooting the coons aside from being a bit..bloody, can end up with you paying huge ass fines OR standing before a judge explaining why you shouldn't go to jail for shooting them. And even though the coons can and will be huge pests, most people don't like to see you blow them away and you can't fault them for going after the grapes.Originally Posted by Plow
