On pld, I think I would go with homam for the def and style (no more turban please ). If you're damage dealing, difference between both is going to be so little it doesnt really matter. On HNM, utsu ni recast shouldnt be a problem depending if you reach the cap, so def would win.
if his pld, he might want the extra defense. homam has 26 def but walahra has 0. not that 26 defense helps alot. From homam to walahra, you lose out 1 sec in recast time for flash

Honestly though, i prefer Homam. I farm pld/rdm so i dont take any damage ever and alot of that depends on me lowering the average mobs attack with some decent defense. So def + acc > 2 haste in this case.
On HNM i use emnity build or Kaiser Head, swap in Homam for recast of utsu when neeeded.
On tp burn i use homam because as stated before, over time the haste and accuracy differences wont be noticed that much, if at all. Not to mention as pld/nin i try and flash and cover as much as possible to allow other more efficient melees more time to attack and less time spent recasting utsu. so i end up tanking a majority of the time in those parties.
All in all i would say Turban is excellent for several melee jobs, but for the ones that can wear Homam, go for the Homam.
fuck no lolOriginally Posted by Aodh
i'd rather be wearing the German SS hat any day over that fruity turban that makes you look like 90% of the population in FF
I was actually enjoying reading what people thought, but people like you just ruin a nice opinionated debate.Originally Posted by Freight
My opinion: the difference is so slim it doesn't matter. use what looks better and is already in your macro line. 2haste won't break the game and neither will 4hp/mp
It's as simple as this for me on THF. If I'm using sushi, Turban for the extra haste. If I'm using meat, Homam for the extra acc.
If I'm not using food I'll generally use Turban or O hat (for the eva when soloing).
If you're going to give up 2% haste for 4 acc, why not give up 3% more haste for 6 more acc and just go with an optical hat?Originally Posted by inafume
I'll pick up the zucchetto just to complete my set if no one else wants it, but I don't see any point in ever actually wearing it.
I think the points made have been:Originally Posted by FFXIFlux
1. Pld for def (farming or /nin)
2. Its free
3. Its a nice balance, Not giving up all the accuracy from Ohat, or loosing all the haste from Walara.
4. Style
5. Style
6. .....
Point 2 is moot, Turbo Turban is free also. (Complimentary free hat with 20k XP, only at participating ToAU locations.)Originally Posted by Neosutra
I'd probably still use walahra turban over homam head on drg. I'd rather spend my time keepin a KV ToD and gettin Aces Helm than lot Homam head on drg let a drk have it.
I'd rather have ace's helm than Homam. God ace's helm is fucking awesome...Originally Posted by Aramaic
For BLU, between all three (and OH), I use:
1) Homam for soloing, Dyna/Limbus and HNMs (and when a miss a little in EXP)
2) Walahra Turban for EXP
3) Optical Hat when/if I'm missing too damn much regarding 1) and 2)

I pretty much wear the homam head full time on my PLD. Compared to the other pieces of gear available, its probably the most rounded one that fits my playing style. You could min/max things all you want by swapping in koenig head or aegishjalmr when you spend that mp, but that only creates trouble for your healers when you re-render on their screen.
Mostly, I wear it because others don'tThat's how most gear is in this game. The real effects are so negligible that the pure randomness of the game will have a bigger effect.
