Developers are LEAVING the PS3. People WANT to develop for Wii. The reason SE put DQ swords on Wii is the same as FFXIII on PS3. They wanted to. They needed the controller of the Wii to make the DQ swords game they wanted to and wanted the power of the PS3 to make the FFXIII they wanted to. You seem to have the mindset that everybody is going to want to work on the PS3, that is soooooo last gen.Originally Posted by Nightstriker
Oh and out of all those 3rd party launch titles (aside from the 1st party titles which will still be some of the best games anywhere) here are the ones with potential:
Red Steel (Rebuilt from the shitty E3 build)
Tony Hawk Downhill Jam
Madden
DQ Swords
Super Monkey Ball
Trauma Center
Elebits
Marvel: ultimate alliance
Blitz the League
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Oh wait, that's almost the ENTIRE LIST. And EVERY ONE OF THOSE has potential to be great.
As has been said before: Sony isn't merely shooting their foot, they're nuking their foot. Nintendo on the other hand is just doing everything, well, better than anyone.
As I said earlier in the thread, I really do not think huge 3rd party support matters all that much to Nintendo. If they get SE and Konami back - great! but I really do not think they are basing their business plan on that.
Nintendo is betting on
1) the price
2) first party support
3) the wiimote
To winning this battle. And to you all that say that will only win them the first year, this is my opinion. By the time they outsell the PS3 by a ton and almost catch Microsoft they will have 3rd party support and be primed to win this battle.
Developers aren't leaving PS3, my point is developers are giving there BEST titles to PS3. You dont see Devil May Cry, Timesplitters, GTA, Dynamis Warriors, FF, MGS, and etc going to Wii do you? No because developers are going to put them on a system where they know they will make a profit because they where so successful on PS2. They do have the potential to be good games but I personally doubt it because its a new system and it will be there first time programming for it. But that is my own personal belief, someone already said this but the best games dont come out till 1-2 years after system been out because it takes time to learn to program and use the system full potential.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus
As far as DQ swords goes if this game is good it might come to PS3 after exclusive title contract is up. Must like RE4 was exclusive for Gamecube then after like year or 2 its lost its exclusive title and developers now have the option of putting it on other systems.
Another thing is you can't make it sound like PS3 is not going to sell when it comes out, just cause you dont wanna buy it. I bet during its lauch it will sell out everywhere because alot of people will have prepared themselves to pay $600 by saving for a month before it comes out or kids will just have there rich mom and dads pay for it.
I wish sony wouldnt push PS3 as more of an entertainment system and less of a gaming console, but they do have a good point about one thing.
Its not that you're buying an expensive game console, you're buying a very reasonably priced Blu-Ray player with capabilities of doing alot of other things.
Wii is nice and all, it looks fun; but all in all its just a new Gamecube. The graphics are only slightly better, and any games that will be on both systems will be on orgasm level with the ps3.
Say madden is on both systems, i sure as fuck aint playing it on a wii. I'll play zelda on my wii, mario, that's about it.
Wii looks fun, and i'll get one sure, but i'm still more excited about my ps3. I just got a brand new very nice HDtv, and you can put money on me getting the higher priced ps3 so i can use my hdmi ports. I'll have my blu-ray movies playing too, turning my room into pretty much a theater. Then after, i'll throw in whatever game, and probably have a seizure. I'll keep the Wii in my basement next to my weight set since it will be better for excersize than playing games on.
I really dont care who outsells who. I dont care if Wii sells 50,000,000 units and ps3 only sells 1,000,000 - It doesnt change the fact that there will still be games made for the ps3, and that those games will still be good. I hear there is alot in store for the 360 too, it might get blown away by the other systems but MS will still produce games for it, some of which will be buyable.
Maxx, i really hope that nitendo does good, its been so long since they've been on top and when they were they were untouchable. I play my NES and SNES much more than PS1 games, and probably just as much as PS2 games. They are still fun to this day. But the games developed for both will probably be 10000x better on the ps3. Tony hawk, madden, with the capabilities of the ps3 and the current-gen capabilties of the wii - you can bet they'll be more fun with sony. You're just buying a gamecube with a better controller and downloadable software.
Not if it sells that many.Originally Posted by Boyiee
Uh, yes it will. Just because a system is owned in sales doesnt mean they dont make games for it anymore. Xbox still had games made for it, gamecube did lol. SegaCD had games for it.Originally Posted by Headspace
Yes but the biggest franchises like the ones you mentioned in your previous post will not be added. Why would Kojima put MGS on PS3 if only 10 million are gonna play whereas 50 million would play it on a Wii. Don't be naive.Originally Posted by Boyiee
Isn't it already going to be on the ps3? the franchises i mentioned will be there, they are already made for it. They obviously expect it to do well. And just because a game sells bad doesn't mean that game will never appear on that system again. There are alot of games that have shitty sales that the companies just throw in another copy or sequel to try and up sales.
My statement was that even if Wii trumps PS3, the PS3 will still have games made for it.
Some of which will probably be good. Xbox sucked in sales compared to ps2, but there were still some good Xbox games. Oh and look, they even made a next gen system even after shitty sales, and that one has some decent games on it and comming out. 50million would choose ps2 over xbox, but xbox still has halo on it, ps2 doesnt. Xbox still gets games like madden, and need for speed. Even if sales are bad, games will be on it, oh, franchises too obviously. You got it backwards on who is being naive my friend.
You make some good points, but I think we need to dwell more on the cost of the PS3. I mean, shit, if I had the money, I'd buy a PS3 and Wii. But I don't. So I have to make a choice. Since $250 sounds a lot better than $600, and I'll get most of my favorite genres with that $250, I'm going to go with that. (I haven't been a fan of MGS since the original PSX one honestly and I don't recall ANY good 3D Castlevania games from Konami.)Originally Posted by Boyiee
I honestly don't think the world's ready for a $600 console, which is what the world's going to see the PS3 as. If I'm going to buy a PS3, it'll be for the games. Anything else that comes with it is just extra. I think the majority of gamers that want the PS3 are in the age group of about 14-24, AKA highschool/college students. And I got about -$67 in my bank account right now as a college student.
Xbox largely had no exclusive games for it. It had cross-platform games that were ported between the 3 consoles.Originally Posted by Boyiee
I REALLY don't get why people keep tossing around MGS4, FFXIII, etc, when those games won't be out for several years.
We don't even have FFXII yet, and it went into development roughly 5 years ago. The development cycle on the PS3 is gigantic. Yes, the PS3 will have some AAA titles, but don't expect them anywhere near launch.
I comepletely agree, the wii is everything you want, but its not really nextgen graphically.
I'll get a wii for sure, i think its going to be a great system and alot of fun. But even still, i look at the PS3 like it was meant to be looked at, as more than a mere gaming console. I want a blu-ray player, ps3 saves me alot of money. A real lot. Plus its going to be absolutely stunning, so i'll deal with its faults. PS1 was the only MGS i played through and really enjoyed, the others were meh to me... I dont really care much for the new one minus how cool it seems.
I have 18$ in my account, my card was declined for a haircut lol. But I'll still end up getting both, thats what having a girlfriend with alot of money is for. I just hope that the ps3 online features and Wii's are like XboxLive, i love xboxLive.
Ninja Gaiden was Xbox exclusive and better than any action game released this generation. Jade Empire was a pretty good game as well and was exclusive to Xbox. I preordered FFXII, I hope they made use of the long as hell development time. I don't even care about FFXIII until I play through FFXII first. I am kinda tired of the MGS franchise, they should just make fucking movies.
So buy the Wii... and save up $600 in the time it takes them to put the games out. Whether they put them out now or later, they are still being produced for each system respectfully.Originally Posted by Xavier
i cant afford that shit at launch anyway. Let the obsessed kids and kids that mooch off mommy and daddy get their wii's and ps3's first. Let them buy the 400k consoles and cause a demand for it and blahblah just like what happends everytime. I had to get my N64 shipped from my sister in Alabama cause i couldnt get one in the Tri-state area, im done with that phad.Originally Posted by Xavier
So what if that stuff is going to be delayed, it'll be worth the wait. And there will still be games in the meantime. Xbox didnt have much exclusive for it, but i still enjoy some of the games that were for it. Are they still considered exclusive if MS puts them on PC too? Cause thats just about every xbox game.
I lost all respect for you in that one sentence. All of it.Originally Posted by Boyiee
Anyway, I am going to be in agreement with Haelian and Xavier here. As a cheap college student, I want to be able to play games for a decent price. I'll be able to play what I want with a Wii, at launch, and in 10 years when FF13 is finally shipped to America, the PS3 pricetag might be somewhat reasonable to us college kids. I don't want a blu-ray player, I don't even want an HD DVD player. I just want to play some decent games, and I don't care how pretty they are as long as they're good.

It was a joke lol. I probably wont get either untill they come down in price, and i know for a fact even if i had the mony i wouldnt buy it within 6months of launch. And whats wrong with having a girlfriend?
You had respect for him?Originally Posted by Lbelle
I agree with the sentiment and would like to request that any female who appreciates the notion to buy me a wii.
