I got so lucky with my first PS2. I started working at EB the week it launched, and obviously sold out instantly. Some kids parents didn't communicate well and they each bought him one for his birthday. One of them got returned and I bought it before it went back on the shelf 8)

Nice, did you enjoy Fantavision, or wtfever it was called? That and the god-awful Street Fighter II 3D abomination are the only games I can remember coming out at launch.

As for PS3, I'll wait until MGS4 comes out, and then I might have to get one.

No it's not.

This is what's rediculous, bluray is shit, it's worthless and it's not needed. There are DVDs and there are dual layer DVDs that arnt even being fully used. In a movie situation; the biggest movie ive ever seen PLUS content is 6GB, same goes with games, they dont touch the full capacity of a dual layer DVD, and if they do it's because of the movie and audio files which can be compressed very easily.

Take a look at FFXI and PSU and WoW, those games are full blown out installs that a console game couldnt touch, FFXI is like 10gb (with patches) and the base install, pol and expansions can all fit on one DVD.

Bluray is not needed, its not needed for its size and its not needed for its claimed 'better sound and video quality'. If anything I would go for the new HDVD as that blows blueray out of the water in space (something like 10:1) and it boasts better quality.

Sony is BS, PS3 is BS, and what Xavier said, I dont trust Sony as far as i can throw them atm, for they have stated nothing but idioticy, arrogance and retarditism (new word for you kids).

I hope their system fails, hard and burns (quite literally). Maybe if theyre smart after release comes out, theyll see how much shity their little baby is and replace the bluray and cell chip with cheaper units and the PS3 can be sold for 250$. I dont care if MGS or GTA of even if/when FFXIII (Square, sell your soul back to Nintendo please) come out, I will not and a lot of others WILL NOT but a PS3 at 600$ a fucking pop for ONE game (which will cost 70~100$) PLUS controllers PLUS memory cards, as well as who knows what. It will be fucking 1000$ to play ONE game, ONE! And that is not acceptable.

Also as what Xavier and others say, the development for PS3 games is ridiculous, high cost, high maintenance, will take forever, long load times for games, etcetc. The list just goes on and on with complaints about the PS3, ive honestly not heard one positive thing the PS3 has going for it, oh! cheap bluray player! k, ill just go use my 50$ DVD player and buy the DVD for 10$ while you buy the PS3 and the 50$ bluray movie. I hope all your megapixels make you happy.


Nintendo has really made the best move the possibly ever could, aside from their monopoly of handhelds, theyre finally on the right track with main consoles.

As long as the Wii can do what it says it can do, it will win. Just to name the tope reasons: Backwards compatable with GC and can play every Nintendo game ever bad via d/l, the new controller and new gameplay and ideas that will spawn from it, and it's easy and less expensive to produce games for.

Nintendo knows, Sony knows and a lot of 3rd partys know that Nintendo has the chance to be #1 this generation, they do have the ability, its just up to them to make sure it happens. However Nintendo NEEDS 3rd party development, and I hope to God they will get them. I hope Square goes back to Nintendo to make real RPGs for them, not that superdeformed crap on the GC.

If Wii gets exclusive RPGs or hell, for both Wii and PS3, Wii will win out, if MGS comes to Wii, Wii will win (hello possibility of making new MGS for both systems, the SSBM thing makes me wonder that..). If you look at other posts, thats all PS3 has: RPGs, MGS and GTA. If Wii just gets one, it will fight hard, if Wii gets 2, it will be game over.

PS3 is shit, and I will not buy one, no matter what untill that price tag hits under 300$

MGS will probably finds its home on the Xbox360 more likely than Wii. I think Hideo has even been quoted saying a weaker version of the game could be played on the Xbox360, but I may have misread it.

Sony is like lucky. Their wins have never been because of them, its always been situational, and always in their favor. They first won the hearts of the 3rd party because PS > N64. PS2 pretty much is the same deal. Now it seems the tables have turned and for once the situation isn't in their hands. Nintendo, and even Xbox, has been through hell(Nintendo twice), while Playstation has never had to experience that. Personally, I think this will mark the end of Sony's gaming monopoly and really be a whole new age of gaming.

If you're a Zelda fan, you really, really should consider gritting your teeth and playing through the cartoony graphics. Storywise, this game is almost on par with Ocarina of Time, and mostly because of its close connections with OoT.

IMO, this game wraps up the entire Zelda timeline (everything about Ganondorf, Hyrule, the royal family, the reason why the Great Sea exists, and the Triforce) kinda nicely.

One of the most intruiging instances was the MGS-esque part of your first visit to forsaken forest where you have to sneak past the moblins.

The graphics honestly were not all that bad. The bright feel of the game was a nice contrast to the usually dark Zelda series, but of course, the game itself is still dark.

Storywise, I'm getting particulary interested in Twilight Princess. You got Ocarina of Time being the first game in the timeline, with the appearance of Ganondorf and his contact with the Triforce of Power, and the Imprisioning War, and then you got Wind Waker, which can be considered the final resolution for Hyrule and Ganondorf. You almost feel sorry for Ganondorf as he makes his speech about the wind before he is finally stripped of the Triforce of Power.

Hopefully Twilight Princess fills the gap in the middle, in the time just before the Great Sea was created, when the beginning cutscene in Wind Waker tells you that evil was spreading across the land, and tells us why the Hero of Time doesn't appear.

Suffice to say, Wii is gonna kick ass just on Zelda alone.
Metroid as a launch title is just gravy.
