Wow with how hot leveling in ToAU has become on Ragnarok I'm really suprised at how other servers are not worried about missing the bonus xp and stuff from having the AC. As I have been leveling my newest job I havent had a party from 50-69 that wasnt in a ToAU area. I seriously thought nobody even leveled that much outside of these new areas 50+, seeing as the XP bonus allows you to kill ToAU VT mobs for the XP of IT mobs in standard areas.
As far as I know of anyways Ragnarok has lost the AC once, which I think was intentional around the ToAU release just to see what happens, and maybe 2-3 max. that I wasnt around for. And Even if there where more people must have recovered it in a matter of hours.
Only thing that sounds neat is being able to do a BC fight that is only triggered by having the AC stolen, but farming keys...... no thanks, we have to do enough of that crap already.
Is that your opinion or mine? I dont recall saying that. Stop putting words in my mouth.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus

I never said you said anything. I was merely reminding you that its a lot more than just teleports to staging points. If I wanted to put words in your mouth I would have lolOriginally Posted by Lordwafik
"Reminding" implies that I forgot the Astral Cansendence has other benefits, which I have not, but I dont see those as anything special really. When the AC is gone I've gone to all my camps fine and gotten same or xp/hr in most cases due to being the only party there. Or even gone to xp in sea/non ToaU areas. Exp bonus is a nice touch, but nothing that I personally go gaga over.I was merely reminding you that its a lot more than just teleports to staging points.
The only thing the AC inside Al Zahbi means to me is a) the vendor will sell Sis Kebabi, and b) I can recap my buffer after dynamis by spamming protect on npcs in beseiged.
But yeah I guess the AC is awesome, I really love competing vs eleventy billion people at any place my party takes me.
Ok, I'm sorry if I offended you so greatly, it will surely happen again but, please, enjoy the time until that happens.
Apology accepted.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus

We've certainly lost it more than once. We actually lost it last week and I was in the PT that got it back for us.Originally Posted by Daveys

My title is Subduer of the Undead Swarm
Really, the guide at ffxiclopedia.org sums it up pretty well and contains mostly everything you need to know.
Your kill order needs to be Lamia No. 24 (BLM) > Lamia No. 18 (COR) > Lamia No. 11 (RNG) (Mega Boss). The mobs sleep pretty well. The Mega Boss uses Charmga, and when he's below 20% HP he uses it a fucking ton. Like as soon as you become uncharmed, he uses it again in 30 seconds or so. A few tips
- I'd suggest having at least one BLM, and when you wake up from charm immediately fire a Burst II on him every single time, Manafont if you have to. You need to get as much damage as possible into those short intervals where you're uncharmed. Of course none of this matters until you've already killed the previous 2 NMs.
- When everyone is charmed everyone should be mashing their arrow key to move away from their mob, so that as soon as they become uncharmed they'll begin running the hell away since the other 5 people will start whacking them.
- Fight near the entrance so that when mobs die you can safely reraise. Remember Tractor doesn't work.
- Save all damaging 2 hours for when the Mega Boss is below 15%.
The setup I won with was NIN, THF, SAM, BLM, WHM, XXX. Can't remember the last job.
Sounds like Making a Mockery ISNM wouldn't be bad training for doing the Swarm recovery run. The Colibri NM is just the same as far as getting Charmga'ed goes.Originally Posted by divisortheory
Haven't done that ISNM, but perhaps. The issue isn't really surviving because of all the charmgas, it just turns time into your enemy. You spend so much time charmed and when the mob is below 20% HP you only have time to knock off 2-3% each time you're uncharmed before he does it again. So tossing really strong nukes (ala Burst II) and damaging 2 hours in there really helps to maximize your damage potential. I think we got charmed about 6 or 7 times from Mega Boss 20-0%.Originally Posted by Kyreth
thanks to divisortheory, a group from Veritas and Manifestos took back the Astral Candy that very next day :D
If you aren't facing the Lamia boss when it charms, you won't be charmed.
I've done this BC in 1 shot from all 3 mobs 100% twice now.
nin, whm, rdm, blm x 3.
We beat it in 20 minutes last time.
That's actually really awesome to know. I'll try it next time. Grats to Karik and his group for the kill, it was one of the most fun fights I've done in a whileOriginally Posted by nsx
